We do have a way. tonight at 6 G4TV has a live demo and interview with GT5. They have a live tweet going on so if we all tweet them to ask the questions maybe they will.

6 eastern, or 6 pacific?

Bekimche
everybody that tunes in should twitter the exact same thing. The same question worded exactly the same, I'm sure if there's 100 tweets with the same question, it will be asked!

Andrew house " I've seen it and it's great ".

Yes exactly^ last night they asked 3 or 4 questions that people tweeted in so I think we might have a chance.

I won't be here to help cause I'll be sleeping (timezone difference) so I hope everyone here at GTP fires up. The question should be "Will EVERY car have a cockpit view regardless of whether they are premium or standard models?"

We can DO IT! Should go on the front news page!

The GT4 cars were modeled nicely too. The photo-mode models look pretty much the same as in-game models in GT5 and they probably have the models captured in higher resolutions too. But they have no interior. Will we have black windows in GT5? I highly doubt PD modeled the interiors of the GT4 models and didn't then use them. I highly doubt it. But damn, I wish they did.

I know this is GTPlanet, and it wouldnt be the same without a bit of specualtion bla bla... but the writer said the word porsche! AND, the interview was spoken in Japanese. There is one obvious mistake right there, and lots of room for miss communication and interpretation too. No one knows for sure about these details, and I'm actually quite shocked people are still unsatisfied with GT5. Literally astounded!!

In my opinion the 'interior' (pending confirmation of correct interpretation/translation) pertains to some kind of interior photo mode, or possibly to the detail of an engine bay or something like that. I've said it before but there is no way PD would include a cockpit view at all if you couldnt use it throughout all of the cars available. I wouldnt be happy with that, so do you think Kaz would!? Exactly.

Anyway, the thing i came in here to ask was... Did eurogamer have exclusive access to this interview or are we waiting on other write ups to surface? I'd like to know where i should be placing my attention ;) Thanks for any info 👍

No, from what I gathered from the article, it was a group of people.

Regardless of what this "interior" actually means, personally I believe that all cars will have cockpit views. The difference I think is the kind of view you would get in the replay. The full interior view of premium cars would come with mutiple-angle views. Just like these few videos from mimaximax:

It makes sense that it would have taken a lot more time and effort to recreate all the details in the car as well as the animation. Cockpit views on the other hand is not as demanding. There were already more or less 60 cars in GT5P that have cockpit views. It's inconceivable that only 140 or so car are added on top of that.

The models in GT4 are not even close the models in GT5, even excluding the interior in the GT5 models. Not even close to being close.

The models in GT4's photomode are exactly the same as when you play the game, except the wheels are more detailed in photomode.

And I have a idea about standard and premium cars. See in GT5P(have a lot of standard models) on Elise, Dodge Viper, Citroen or Daihatsu etc. For me that would be look standard cars in full version GT5, representing some of this level. For me these cars will be not premium for full version of GT5, soo don't panic.

Premium cars = standard cars + much more polygons (particularly inside of body car) + more damage.

👍

I hope you're right.

It would have taken years, probably, to capture thousands of cars with that much detail.

Hopefully, the "standard" cars will still have a cockpit, just not as super super detailed as what we see in those videos, which is almost beyond impressive.

I do hope however, that we get that level of detail in a few cars outside of strictly race cars. I would love to see, and use, an American Muscle car with that level of attention. :)

And one more idea. Look, Premium cars is 200. So minus WRC Cars, and minus GT Cars, and minus Nascar cars we have near 100 premium Stock Cars. Do you think the Elise, Viper, Daihatsu, Lancia, Suzuki or more like this cars to be premium, no, and these cars in GT5P have a cockpit view, and looks OK.

SO once again Premium cars = standard cars + much more polygons (particularly inside of body car) + more damage. That is my theory. :)

We have lot of car's from GT4 in GT5P and they all have cockpit view!!! As example Nisan Skyline GT-R R34 SpecII Nur, Honda NSX, Mazda RX7, Ford GT, Dodge Viper GTS, Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG... So am 100% sure that ALL car's will have cockpit view!!!

I still don't get it. Why would they do this?? Why not concentrating on fewer cars then, and spend the time they did on upscaling the 800 standard models, on giving us maybe 300 or 400 fully detailed ones instead?

Face it, 1000 cars is a pretty silly number, especially since only 20% of 'em will be true GT5 cars. 300 would be more than enough in my book, and I bet they would have plenty of time making 300 (if not more) premium cars if they didn't care to include the 800 standard models in the first place.

I will have to agree. I rather have 400 cars with nice interiors than an 800 - 200 split. It fragments the whole game. I honestly can't see PD doing this.

They set the bar to high probably. If kaz had his 5/6 years again he would probably approach it different.

Abit like the veyron going for over 1000 bhp to say they done it.

Well, to be fair, we don't know how much time it took to "upscale" the "standard" cars. It could have taken months, years, or weeks.

We don't even know if that process took resources away from whoever was creating the "premium" cars.

Maybe 200 "premium" cars was all we were going to get, whether they included "standard" cars or not.

But, this is all a little premature, as we still don't have a clear definition of what a "premium" or "standard" car is exactly.

I don't know about you, but I can read, and it's not the first time I have read in an interview that the standard cars will have no interior.

And to you guys who say the interior could mean engine bay or trunk, I say wake up. Engine bay is engine bay, trunk is trunk and interior is interior, as in seats, dashboard and steering wheel.

Is it just me, or are the gear change animations out of sync with the engine note sounds, by quite a margin?
Yes, that's also a thing which has been talked about a lot. The shifting animations are two slow, and with paddle shifts looks unnatural.

Exactly, it could've taken very little time to upscale the cars from previous games, depending on what data they already had on them. What if the time involved could've given us 5 more premium cars, max? I know I would much rather have 800 cars we wouldn't get otherwise than a handful, if any, more premium cars.

I agree with this guy.. I do not think interior was mis-translated. That interview and the fact we have not seen too many in cockpit view videos come out recently leads me to believe something similar.

worst news ever for me.

they said that 800 cars are upscaled form gt4/gtpsp and be compared to the level of forza and project.. are they ****ing kidding me!!? it's like having 2 different games running togheter

and only 200 cars out 1000 with cockpit?! with 30 of them being identical nascar, 20 identical skylines and 5 crap cars like capuccino, cercvo etc... in 6 years, no way!

800 out of 1000! they would be destroyed if they release a game that for more than the half of the cars it's a gt4 hd after 6 year.

Kaz said in a previous interview that there is not one single bit of reused code or anything else in GT5. They threw everything away and started GT5 from scratch. Nothing will be upscaled. 👍

lol except for the part of the interview where they specifically say the cars are unscaled from GTP.

Haha, if it took very little time to upscale them, it means they are basicly the same models as in GT4, and you'd want that? Fine...

GT5P... yes. So it's from scratch, still.

Article seems pretty clear to me. Premium cars have detailed interiors and Standard cars do not. From all the info we have at hand I think its also pretty clear the 'Premium' tag has little or nothing to do with the pedigree of a car or manufacturer and just means a far greater detailed model and the 'Standard' cars are revamped models from the previous games. Detail wont be quite as high but if I remember correctly the model data from GT4(garage models) were already pushing 200K+ polys.

They could've easily had more detailed data on the cars than what you can see in GT4, so you can't just assume that it took a long time to upscale or the cars are unchanged from GT4.

I also agree with you, how could someone say there's no interior for 800 cars and mean something completely different, interior isn't something you get confused about, when someone says interior of a car, you think in your head, seats, dash, wheel, gearknob, glovebox etc, not engine bay

Horrible news about 800 cockpits missing.

Can't they just do either of these?

I'd take the last one with a dashboard and wheel with everything else blacked out.
