Nations race i wasnt expecting much, i really struggle on the Redbull Junior car. It's too unpredictable. Race was fun tho.

Manufactures was incredible. Had a terrible qualifying, was running high 36s on qualy simulations but chocked when it mattered. Still managed 5th. Got some really terrible penalties here that i feel i didnt deserve any of it. It cost me deeply in the end. Very happy with the comeback and the intense battles in the end.

I would like to thank the top folks who I competed against that gave me props in the post race comments. That really raised my morale. I might not be competitive in every car/track combo but it’ll give it my best when the situations are in my favor.

... I guess I got off easy...

Pole & Win after a disasterous first race for me last Saturday. Been having issues for the past few days so getting the win was a much needed breath of fresh air.

Race start @ 32:10
That was excelllent pace. Actually, I think that was a quite a fast room compared to the other ones.

I was never able to consistently slice through the 2nd chicane without the curbing launching me off course so I ran a conservative line. Ascari, everyone was faster than me there. Every time I tried carrying that speed in, the rear kept stepping out and I couldn't hang onto it. The only thing I had going for me was being really good with the tires... which did absolutely squat.
Hey, I was in that race. It looks like you forgot to prove me wrong! ;) Your recent stats seem to contradict what you said earlier. Here's a reminder:

the 2018 FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships are underway and live
Only because I've had tons of luck picking the right time slot. I would've started 15th in the alien room at DTG today and my Q lap was the best I could've managed! What I can credit myself for is using every tactic I have available to get the most amount of points I can get despite my lack of raw speed.

@Matty28 Thanks for making my day today, it brings me so much joy and comfort to my heart knowing we have such great talent in gt sport community.

@PD for everyone's sake, ditch the penalty system for contacts, this is not even funny anymore.

It really looks like a dive bomb from your view point and I'm not sure how you could've avoided contact.

There just isn't the visibility in game. The red rings that pop up mean a car is alongside but not how far along or how quickly they're coming through. In this case they don't appear until you practically driving into the car thats dived through. Its not used here but the radar is not much better as the icons are not representative of the vehicle boundaries. Except, radar might've helped a bit when they entered your blind spot. Now, are we supposed to be watching the radar or the track?

That all being the case, I also don't see why this contact was sufficient for a penalty. Apart from being penalised neither player was effected too much.

I'm really happy that the Gran Turismo FiA championship works so well indeed!
/sarcasm

Error message at 1:10.
BTW: My connection is optic fibre 100mbps, with ping around 10ms at German servers and it is very stable. Great work PD...

I just love these informative error messages. State the obvious then let the user guess and/or rage about what went wrong.

I just finished the Monza race with the X2014. No contact. No penalties.

I'm going to assume you qualified in 20th (deliberately perhaps) and just followed the other cars around for 13 laps.

Anything else is just far too unbelievable.

I called the Jaguar a pig at Dragon Trail Gardens. Still is and I almost had the worst qualifying session I've ever had. Then I do the unthinkable and matched my practice lobby time for a 3rd place starting spot. A good driver in the Viper was on my tail the entire race and I needed all my concentration just to keep him roughly half a second back. The top 2 guys battled during the second stint and both got penalties. Wasn't enough to jump both but I did steal 2nd with a clean drive. Completely unexpected but welcome result. 👍
That was me in the Viper. I wasn't fast enough to pass you so I just tried to keep pressure on you. It was a great result for me. 3rd place and my first time ever scoring 2000 points.

Can't you just admit you're fast and deserve your DR points? Come on, it's a win win situation. You're fast and I'm right.

I have read and followed this guideline rules since long long time ago and I am also proud to say that I was one of the contributors to them, as they originally came from gtsurgeons and my dear friend. I suggest everyone read them and remind themselves on how to race properly:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gtp-code-of-conduct-guide-for-online-racing.102773/
Edit: In fact I am going to copy-paste them to make this more visible: (apologies for the long post)

Online Racing Rules

  1. The position of other drivers must always be respected
  2. Aggressive driving is strictly prohibited
  3. Contacts and collisions must be avoided at all costs
  4. Pushing other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is strictly prohibited
  5. Leaning on other cars is strictly prohibited in any situation
  6. In case of too-late-braking before a turn, drivers should seek any alternative to a collision with cars infront - including going off the track due to his own error
  7. When defending your position, driving line can be changed only once per duel (going off line and returning to previous line)
  8. If you gain a position as a result of an accidental impact or shortcut etc., you must allow the other driver to re-pass you when in position to do so. If you cause the car you've hit to spin out of track or got stuck in sand/grass, you have to wait for him to get out, overtake you and then continue the race.
  9. It is prohibited to commence returning to the track after going-off before you're certain that you'll be no danger for other cars on that section of the track
  10. When exiting the pit-lane you have to obey the safety pit-exit-line
  11. Cutting the chicanes or "shorting" the track at any point is strictly prohibited on all parts of the track, including the asphalt-areas in behind out-of track-lines
  12. Drivers are obliged to follow the race so he can let lapping cars pass when it's needed. Deliberate slowing-down of lapping cars is strictly prohibited
  13. Drivers behind a car allowing lapping cars to pass must refrain from overtaking him until all faster cars have passed
  14. When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions
  15. It is strictly prohibited to look for a pass on places where configuration of the track does not allow for many cars to drive in parallel, or on spots where it could endanger other drivers on track
  16. Drivers who are using PS2/PS3 controller MUST make additional effort in driving due to the fact they can't use side-view, and their perception of the other cars is thereby limited - extreme caution while maneuvering is required
  17. If a driver wants to retire from a race, he must not exit the race. He must find a position on the track where he will not endanger other drivers, "park" his car and wait for the race to end

Time-Trials Rules

Achieved time is valid if the following rules are applied during time-trial:

  1. Car's specs must be in values demanded by particular Time Trial
  2. At least two wheels must be on the track at any time
  3. Car must not have any collision with objects on or around the track during whole Time Trial

Thanks to the top guys in this forum that always share their knowledge, I learn a lot with you. In particular Tidgney, Kie and the TLR boys, I improved my lap 5 seconds! just watching their laps.

I'm just a D driver, many top racers avoided Monza because is a Russian roulette in their level, I don't have anything to loose... and I finished 2nd! :p
I understand why to avoid it, though. I expended the week preparing this race and it paid off, I got the fastest time of the lobby but I couldn't get the pole because people were spinning everywhere during quali.

Clean racing, I stayed 4th until pit, and got positions because other people's errors.
What I found more challenging is to control your own impulses, I mean you have to be really cold to stay calm while surrounded by cars at 170 mph. The mental work is exhausting. Is the first time I finish a race absolutely tired.

Of course, immediately I entered into Nations (rookie error) and I raced while being tired. It was a disaster, I made mistakes and also responded to contact with more contact (not proud of it, but when you have an idiot hitting you from behind for 3 turns... you know what I mean). Anyways, I learnt a lot, and my commitment to continue racing in GT has reaffirmed. I just need to find the time to practice, while maintaining wife, 2 kids, a house, 14 hours job 5 days a week, an ongoing university degree, the 100 years old football club that I chair and the monthly magazine that I edit almost solo. Easy cake.

I give up explaining the rules of fair play racing, made my point. Obviously, the future is bright with this up coming talent, so disappointed.
Man, give up, that door was opened when you left room for TX3_Dayrone, who was ahead, you gave him space obviously, and @Matty28 used that door. Is not about quality, is about speed, you were slow, they were faster. Racing is natural selection on wheels, the fastest will always get the position.

I just finished the Monza race with the X2014. No contact. No penalties.

@OutlawQuadrnt I know! It happened the same to me, and I couldn't believe it!:p

Started 4th and finished 5th in the top split room. Sounds unfathomable but I'll have video evidence once it's uploaded.
Can't you just admit you're fast and deserve your DR points? Come on, it's a win win situation. You're fast and I'm right.
Fast is a relative term. Compared to the average, I'm definitely fast. When I go against the top drivers in this region, I'm James May. It's incredible how just being half a second off in qualifying can be the difference between 3rd and 13th.

The upside for me is that DR is based on where you finish and that's the one strength I do have.

If I can put my 2 pence in on the whole Matty and Zoky debate, I'd like to say it was a racing incident purely down the fact that the game has no peripheral vision. In real life Zoky would have seen Matty there and would've had to give room.

In game at that kind of angle its a pretty blind spot, I wouldn't be too pent up about it, make up and move on, it wasn't race ending :)

When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions

This is a pretty massive contradiction then...?

Matty was on the inside of that left hand 90 within plenty of time, therefore by your own rules that you just posted you should "refrain from endangering him"?

I know those final 2 corners on Gardens sort of blend into 1 corner, but they are infact 2 seperate corners and 2 seperate apexs and should be treated as such.

I noticed one thing in my manufacturers race , i was number 20 door -> started 18th ( yes i hate qualifying traffic again ) -> finished 12th ( 8th on the track but stupid 3 sec penalty just because Subaru understeers MASSIVELY with tire wear on last turn i couldn’t turn i hit the wall and SURPRISE 3Sec PENALTY 🤬 )
But SURPRISE 2 -> i Lost some DR points !??? What ?? how is it possible to lose DR points :odd: I give up with this system :(

10 of the top 24 in the Nations Cup are British, yet only 10 can qualify. I think this needs to be changed. I know it's the 'Nations Cup' and PD want to have fans watching from different countries, but nationality shouldn't restrict talent on a video game so much. Just let everyone race regardless of where they come from until it reaches the final. Then, start having nationality restrictions

3 can qualify actually :nervous:

Its ten in the likes of Japan etc, where there are less countries in the regions. EMEA covers most of the countries covered, therefor less spots. If there is enough talent, then they have the manufacturers cup (which is a whole other set of restrictions. Also PD really likes variety.

Kinda ****ed myself with a bad qualifying in the Nations last night. Starting 12th on Monza is never a good idea, and so it turned out. People seem to think that diving into a corner from a few car lengths back is the way to go. Was a bit of shame as my pace when I was in clean air was only a tenth of the fastest lap of the race.

Main problem was the drop in SR, as dropped way down and couldn't get it back before I wanted to do the manufacturers. Ended in a race with half the field being A+ and A, and half being D. Meant the points were poor (even though I had another mediocre race).

Does anyone know if the Maggiore and Interlagos tracks will have the corner cutting barrels or not? Makes a big difference on Maggiore.

@mclarenLB What do you think of the Gr4 Corvette? I absolutely love the Gr3 car but I am not so sure about the Gr4 car yet. Dragon Trail Gardens might not be an ideal track for that car, but I struggled there massively yesterday. Even fuel wasn’t that good. I shifted at about 60% of the meter and barely saved more than the competion. Where do you shift that car?

Thanks in advance.

Everything about the car is average, shift at 80%-100%ish if hotlapping, but can easily shift out of 40% ish if fuel saving without losing massive pace.

Average Pace, Average Fuel, Average Tyres, Average Car.

Thanks, that’s what I thought.

Thanks, that’s what I thought.

Worth mentioning though, its strength is top end, so yes, I had a particularly miserable time at Gardens yesterday, hopped in the Megane Trophy afterwards for Daily Race C and my 3rd lap was a 1:36.2, 6 tenths faster than what I had in the Vette, granted that Megane is absolutely busted though and has 2-3 tenths on EVERYTHING right now.

Great decision by me to skip Tokyo then:lol:

I was at 37.4 in free practice but couldn’t get under 38 in the race. Front tyre wear was also an issue. I noticed that I was reasonably competitive at the start of each stint, but lost out in laps 5-7. I think mainly because I had to lift all the time through the quad apex corner.

They do not. Interlagos has stricter track limits than it used to have. Maggiore is as it’s always been. Corner cutting galore.

14. When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his action
So rule 14 is literally what everyone has been saying to you and you broke rules 1-7 yourself during the race

It really looks like a dive bomb from your view point and I'm not sure how you could've avoided contact.
The same way I did when he pulled the same move on me on the last lap - when you go wide you should look to see if the guy behind is taking advantage and if so you give a cars width at the apex.

Considering the last corner on the track to actually be 2 separate corners just proofs that all hope is lost for some of you.

They are, every apex is a new corner (not that it matters). Why did you do the same move on the last lap then? If I drove exactly like you you'd be still be here calling me various insults.

I'm not sure what gives you the right to act above everyone elses opinion on clean racing like you are some sort of racecraft god teaching the uneducated masses, especially after the 2 Manufacturer races you ran last night which were both pretty disgraceful from a driving etiquette point of view.

Its straight up not the attitude to have. The contradiction against your own rules and failure to provide anything more to further your point of view on that corner than the statement above aren't exactly helping your case right now.
