Yes, the player names and images are there, but the emoji's are not. People have been asking about removing the emojis

Now, I don't know if I have triggered a bug, because I've had the emojis off for months, or if people are confusing the names and the emojis. In either case, I don't have emojis.

I don't think anyone has been asking about the emojis, I always interpreted it as people wanting to remove the players heads.

No, people were asking about the AI pictures floating above the cars..

Edit: sorry @Nebuc72, didn't see your response above.

I don’t want anything above the cars. Labels or heads or emojiis. I don’t think you can turn ON the emojis in the PP races.

MMX
I bailed on this race twice. I like Willow Springs, and usually do well there, especially against AI. Tried the 2 chili car first. The grip, and handling are great, but clearly slower. Qualified 3rd, but immediately fell to 5th on the start, which made me start over driving, and took a trip into the desert. No chance of salvaging that race, so jumped out, and grabbed the no chili, Mazda. The thing is an understeering mess, but faster. My Q time was 8 seconds faster, but the AI picked up 9 seconds, so I wound up starting 2nd.
Unfortunately this tells everything that needs to be told. If Sophy was actually a lifelike AI it would drive its own pace with the cars it's given, and we indeed could choose the difficulty by selecting cars faster or slower relative to it, but if it matches our pace it's nothing more than a bunch of rubberbanding again. Which completely takes away the aspect of improving until you can beat it because it'll just take one look at your pace and pull the rubberband tighter to ensure your better skills are useless as it can do whatever it needs to do to keep up.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack Includes Mid-Race Saves (Sort Of)

An unexpected and undocumented throwback feature has been discovered in the Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC, with players reporting that it’s actually possible to suspend and resume a race even if your PlayStation 5 powers off...
Why does PD have to make simple things so confusing. Just give us a save button 🙄🙄

and even then the difficulty for most of them aren't actually difficult. Take the Daytona Historic or whatever it was called for an example. I choose the slowest car, Ford GT40 66, because I love driving that car and the sound that it makes.

Turns out the AI can't actually handle the Bus Stop chicane there nor can it handle T1 very well either. Blast through those two areas like you would normally and you'll win, with the slowest/hardest car, by over 15 seconds. No need to abuse track limits, just drive them normally and you'll gap the AI every day all day long.

Le Mans that followed I won by 2 minutes in the slowest car just by checking the radar and starting on Inters. The AI also can't handle Indy into Arnage well at all. Nor is it quick through the Ford Chicane. Again drive those normally and you'll gap all day. For almost all the DLC races I've done so far and I'm sitting at 440 stars there's some portion of the circuit that humans can drive normally that the AI just cannot handle. Use those areas top gap the AI and you'll win by miles each time.
Yes I saw that in Daytona, Sophy being so slow through the Bus Stop. Also still breaking unnecessarily sometimes.

After what you say in Le Mans too, seems we are still far from a human-like AI, not good news for GT8... but let's hope in these +- 2 years it will improve.

In custom races, and arcade races iirc, you can choose between begginer, intermediate and professional.

I don't know if the car you choose affect the AI pace in the PP races, or if it's just your car that is slower.

I did the 3 lap NBG gr.3 race yesterday evening. Chose the 296 because I love Ferrari’s, and preceded to unfairly blow the doors off of Sophy. Nurburgring is a track I’ve done thousands of laps at, so I expected to win handily, but I didn’t expect my car to be that boosted over everyone else. It was almost like everyone else was BOP’d (and then some) and my car was uncorked. Even after several off track excursions from using my normal braking points, I was easily able to catch and blast back through the pack again. Going to do it in the Audi later today and see if that car is racing under a normal BOP or not. Should be easy to tell

You can see the stats before you go into the race, the Audi is like 200hp down on the 296.

Mind you I don't think they taught Sophy how to use the 296 as the AI in it kept driving off the track and crashing into the wall at the same spots every lap.

I thought it was supposed to be Sophy 3.0 not 0.3 😅

This pack begins to look like another half baked PD production : lot of good ideas, lot of things done well, but also a bunch of big drawbacks that sink the all package. Frustrating to see them fail so often with the gold they have in hands.

Another reason not to buy this DLC, even if it's an insignificant sum of money to you, is because it encourages it. We shouldn't encourage DLC from companies, in my opinion, and I can't ever recall spending a cent on any game beyond its initial purchase price.
I disagree.

I think games noawadays should concentrate on a core product. When things like seasons change (F1, Football) these can be DLCs which update and add new content.

Buying a new FIFA or F1 game every year is worse than every 5 years with paid DLCs.

Since I did not really see much comment about rain experience with Sophy 3.0, here I go:
1. Sophy 3.0 can't read weather map and relies on track wetness meter.
2. Sophy 3.0 would change tires, ignoring whether they can last competitively till the race-end.
3. Sophy 3.0 is faster than Alonso in rain.

I’m not super far into the Power Pack, but my synopsis so far for Sophy wet driving physics (and our’s for that matter when it comes to the power pack), is that PD is just utilizing the wetness meter as a background “degregation percentage” to somewhat mimic wet physics in the background. As in, if the wetness bar is past the first tick, the tires will perform as if they were 50% worn (or something like that). I think they were able to teach Sophy how to drive on worn tires, and not necessarily rainy conditions, because OUR grip on RH tires in intermediate conditions is much better than it should be as well.

Not to mention if Sophy actually knew how to drive in the rain, then I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t allow us wet dynamic weather options in normal custom races - unless they’re holding back content for future updates of course. But logic is telling me that PD just implemented a wet weather Sophy “workaround” for the power pack.

Can someone confirm if water pools in places on the track, or if kerbs become deadly in powe pack races that have harder rain? I have yet to see that happen in the early wet races of the power pack. It’s almost like PD disabled that part of the track/rain physics model for the power pack

That is maybe true for you...but for me an average player the best result I can make at Daytona in the Ford is a 6th place, the top 5 are lapping at least 2 seconds faster every lap(the two top cars almost 4 seconds quicker there) and with my skills at the moment there is no way to get those 2 seconds, unless I spent an hour or more there with timetrailing...

You are obviously a very fast driver(A+ and all TTs and circiut exp's/missions on gold I guess...), but with that you are part of i tiny minority that play GT7...but when they develop new things for GT7, their focus group is not the very top shelf of the best GT players...
Nah mate I'm B/S for Sport ratings, no golds, almost none of the circuit missions/experiences either. I can't even make A stick for more than a few days before I am bumped back down to B.
I'm on controller and drive them all in automatic transmission. I use bumper cam, that helps me to see the track limits best. I've found I'm fastest with the bumper cam.

I think the seconds are there for you and I will say this with the utmost kindness: I believe you can be faster through the bus stop than you currently are. I determine my brake point for that by watching the marker boards on the right hand side of the track, hitting the 2 board and saying "one" outloud. Then I brake down to between 90-95 mph, coast that speed all the way through, and hammer the throttle on exit.
The car actually has great traction and won't break loose on you there. Trust the car, trust yourself. I believe in you!

Ooh! I have run the Spa 1-hr race 50+ times, and the usual puddles were indeed absent in the power pack race. Never once I got the distinct Dualsense haptics that I get when going over puddles. Kerbs were not too slippery either, even with the wet meter above 2/3 for two laps. It did look like Sophy drove like there was no rain.

But the weather speed was too fast so I am not confident on my observation.

There is DLC from plenty of companies that are money grabs and I tend to agree with your sentiment as it pertains to preordering games....

However, I must disagree with you in regard to the Power Pack. Check my post history, I'm no PD apologist by any stretch of the imagination, they do a lot of boneheaded things that agitate me. But to their credit, they've provided years worth of free content and have delivered a unique experience that takes tens of hours to complete.

Does anyone has a tip for the 1000hp-Race @ Deep Forest? I can't get the race win. All the other races in this category weren't a problem. So, I don't know. I'm always 1.5s slower than the first, doesn't matter which car.

And I also don't know, why the "hardest" difficulty car has much more hp than the easy one?

Sometimes it is about handling. In many cases easier car is with 4WD etc.

I am a controller/auto guy myself, and I could get faster if I spent that additional 30-60min for more practise...but not on demand, and probably not constantly over 12laps...

But on my first walktrough anyway, and I just wanna finish every race once with a 1 or 2 pepper car, and then come back to those races I really enjoyed and see if and how I can win them...

I am not there yet, but maybe because it has also much more kilograms or the handling is bad/difficult ?

I also tried using the Gallardo for the Deep Forest race, and the two Skylines just RAN from me. Finished 3rd with 15 seconds behind the 400R. I have a feeling that the Gallardo and R32 are switched.

In the first American branch race at Laguna Seca I had a comfortable gap to P2 right until the penultimate lap when he suddenly gained like two seconds and passed me through the harpin heading on to the final lap. I feel like the regular Sophy AI is better and more fun to race against than this.

Between the AI shenaningans and unability to turn off those car labels I’m not really enjoying it. At the moment my goal is to unlock the bonus cars.

yeah, but the R32 (hardest) is also 4WD as the Gallardo (easy). And for my feeling, the Gallardo is something different than in the other 1000hp-Race.

The Gallardo is also the most underpowered selection compared to the Porsche and R32 at only 800+

Step 5 - Choose Car Name Display and turn it "OFF"
IMG-20251208-WA0002.webp

Now, the Sophy Emojis will not appear above the cars in a race.
I completely turn off any display over the cars. I don't see little names floating over the cars in a real race (Le Mans, 24hr Nurburgring, Daytona) so I just turn it off, adds to realism. And if you want more just have the car info in your HUD, no looking at a list to see where you are in race, just race your arse off and keep track of your position and laps in your head like real racing....

But you cant turn the names off? It is greyed out. Even in the replay you see the names and pictures above the cars. This must be a bug.

I searched and scrolled up and down this thread and cannot find a simple decent answer to a basic question...
Is there a specific path to start on? Or better yet, which is the better way to start these races?

I, too, used the Gallardo because boosted Lambos are cool. The R400 Skyline (not selectable by us) was so much faster on the straights. From the left leading to the back straight to T1 I would lose ~1.5-2.0s worth of advantage. Thankfully I'd make it back up on the infield. THat was my closest race thus far, but seemed very rubber-band esq.
