What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

I think the idea is since the DLC is trying to capture real racing feels its trying to get you invested in the drivers you race against and feel something when going against specific drivers.

Problem is, is that its just text associated with a vehicles and one might allocated as faster than the others but they driver the same in the end of the day. This isnt GRID where each CPU driver has their own minor quirks to makes you think how the driver behaves, nor is there a story mode to get an personal investment from that. The only thing that stands out with the drivers is what car they use but then I'm just focusing on the car I'm racing against, not the driver.

I feel more personally invested against the CPU drivers in my custom races as I often give the same names I used repeatedly the same livery design to give some identification factor and I can headcanon my own story/lore XD
I agree with you, and thinking about it rationally, from an engagement standpoint, i can't shake the feeling that this DLC, as it was delivered, is raw and bland, adding practically nothing to the game..

I have no desire to try other races, since they offer almost no more immersion than other game modes already provide.

Now comes the long part.😅

Along the same lines as comments in this thread so far, I jumped in the PP hoping for a fair challenge, I easily won my first race with the normal car then went straight to the 2 peppers options in Japanese races.
I find that top 4 AI cars are ridiculously and unrealistically fast. On the straight there is no chances.

The only thing that might be hard for some is the rally if you either don't know the rally controls or don't like it. If you have some understanding of how it works
Rally controls?
How it works?
Is it different from the other basic dirt tracks? And how?

Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC: Hands-On First Impressions

After a surprise announcement and a swirl of speculation regarding its contents, the first-ever paid DLC expansion for Gran Turismo 7, the Power Pack, is finally upon us. Priced at $29.99/€29.99/£24.99, this PlayStation 5 exclusive expansion is a significant departure from the free monthly updates Polyphony Digital has provided since launch.
I bought the power pack and earned 28 stars and it says 20 stars to unlock prizes but when I click on the prizes nothing happens. What's the deal?

Does it mean that you have to earn 20 stars from one race? Because my 28 stars is from two different races.

No, you can get the stars however you wish.

The only 20⭐ reward is a Four-Star Roulette ticket, which will be sent to your Garage's Gift's section. You need to progress through the first two races on the Purple path first (FF Tuning Battle 1, FF Tuning Battle 2) to unlock access to it.

Like each race, you need to complete the race before it on the tree.

You can't just go to all the parts that say 20 stars to open.

I think 3.0 is wayyyyyyy too dive bomb-y.
Keeps crashing into me.
It also still relies on rubberbanding too much.
Came here to post this.

At every attempt they get, they will full-send divebomb on the inside of any turn just to get ahead, and a lot of times, this can be exploited to trick the AI into screwing up, causing them to go far wide off the track and sending them back down the pack. Not like that matters anyway, since The Rabbit™️ absolutely has to maintain its position at all times, always close to the player and dusting everyone else.

Not sure why only one or two of the AI opponents are actually competitive while everyone else just lets them pull ahead. Sarthe should have been a tightly-knit top-end battle down the straights, but like typical GT fashion, the rest of the field slows down and lets the top one or two AI opponents always keep close to the player.

To me, this isn't even close to Sophy, but just a fine-tuning of the AI that's already in the game. They can be exploited, they have weird lines through some corners, there's only one or two opponents who are actually competitive, and somehow, no matter the car or Traction Control, they will always beat you from a standing start off the grid.

That's me winning in Sport Mode last week. This was lap 2 BTW. Those cars in the distance were A and A+ drivers. I post this for perspective regarding the racing. Some say the DLC is not realistic, while at the same time I have never once seen their name in a Sport Mode race or even in the Sport Mode thread. What "realism" are we comparing to? I'm genuinely curious.

As far as I can see, the DLC is crafted to emulate GTWS. Does anyone here think they can beat the GTWS players? Is that the realism you're looking for? Being humiliated by AI that emulates the best in the world? I sure am not, and I beat real people weekly (almost).
The AI is good enough to keep me on my toes. Do I love it? No. Is it pretty good? Yes. Is it fun? Yes.

People complain that it's too easy, while others complain it's hard. I've got 2 second place finishes so far, because sometimes, the races don't go as planned. They're not all equal in terms of difficulty, and I've completed 2 branches so far. Sometimes it's a cake walk, and sometimes it's not. Why is there a burning desire to have a game that punishes you mercilessly? Keeping in mind this DLC IS punishing some players who aren't as dedicated as others.

This pack is giving people exactly what fans have asked for, and all I read are complaints. There was complaining about the save, then a save was revealed, and then people didn't like how it was saved. The I want a save for convenience people, who thought no save was too hardcore, became I want to save in the pit lane because a very convenient save on the track was not hardcore enough.

"It costs too much" some say, but they give you your money's worth in game credits, AND THEN SOME!! Because there's millions of credits up for grabs in the races + prizes. I counted an extra 5 million prizes, and a bunch of 750k and 250k prizes, not to mention that I've won a few million on the tickets so far. Someone will chime in and say credits are not money, but they sure charge money for them and people buy them. So you get your money's worth in credits, and content.

Then there's an entire thread dedicated to people who can't read the extremely obvious 5,000,000 credit entry in the PS Store, and somehow Sony is at fault.

Oh, and I've been called names because I'm satisfied that PD delivered what they promised, and I have some interesting content to play for the next few months.

I don't get it.

Generally, how long does it take to show up on the cars? Do the cars get dirtier quicker if it's raining? Presuming this is happening in Sport mode and not just 1P?

ETA - I remember when Lake Louise dropped, cars would show snow on the body panels. But that was pretty much the extent to dirty cars; not even rally cars were getting dirty at the time.
I just did 2 hours with rain at Fuji. Here are the results

We've gone back and forth for a while now, especially regarding our Sophy findings in the custom race thread.

Do you genuinely believe this Sophy update drivers better than 2.1?

I'm not one to complain much, but this power pack is not delivering what was advertised. "Sophy 3.0, the evolution of the best AI? I'm not having "tail to nose battles" so far. Qualifying sounds great.. except I always qualify 2 or 3 seconds faster. What's the point?

I feel like our tweaks to 2.1 deliver better and more balanced races in custom mode. I couldn't agree more with the above comment - this Sophy feels like the regular AI tweaked a bit.

We are able to make great races in the custom race 2.1, and those are yet to be found in the power pack. Our tunes (or detunes) from custom mode work much better than this.

You said this simulate GTWS? I've never seen a world series race (regardless of driver level) that had a 10-15s field spread in qualifying. What's the point? I get that this fits the average player well.. but if you're a bit faster, it plays just like the regular AI.

Thanks for this comment, Good food for thought!
The 2 peppers races are hard, I need to shave 2 seconds to be able to start pole position on some of them. In GTWS and Daily races, to beat the time of the top players in the world it is often 2 secs or more. In this perspective, this is what I asked for. Now let's watch the replays and try to improve.

Regarding difficulty...

It's clear that the strength of the AI in the PP races differ from event to event. My first taste of the DLC for example, was the Civic race at Tokyo. I found the 1 chili and 2 chili settings were quite challenging and nothing from the first "stage" of the tree has come close to that yet.

I'm more than prepared to be beaten hard by some of the Sophy drivers, especially on more unfamiliar circuits. Likewise, I'm certain a lot more of the races ahead of me will be just as easy as those I've tried so far. From what I've read here, the main issue is that it doesn't seem like a linear progression.

Just did the first Gran Turismo 500 race at Fuji. Qualifed P1 pretty easily, but then my TC1 start ended up in me being P8 by the first turn. Got into P2 after a few laps, but by then the lead Supra had pulled away and I could never catch them. Would come onto the front stretch 3.2 seconds behind, and by the time we got to T1 I was 5+ seconds behind. They are stupid fast on the straightaways, which is frustrating. Was running 1:40.8xx-1:41.1xx laps to no avail.

Edit: Got it on the 2nd try. NSX is still crap off the line without TC, got swamped again. But sent it in the first turn and came out P5. Didn't take long to get to 2nd spot and I was able to hang with the leader but that speed down the straight is just ridiculous. Did a half dive in the last sector and almost spun him out (this is super easy to do BTW if you want to be dirty lol) but he recovered and was usually 2-3 seconds back. Glad that one is over. This race would be great if the straightaway speed wasn't ludicrous and it was longer.

I had some time to play the tree this weekend. It's okay. I'm struggling against the fastest AI guys because I'm using a controller - and that's a bit of realism PD nailed...being behind feels like I'm trying to keep up with human players who are using a wheel while I'm on a controller, lmao.

Of course, it's easy to win once you realize that once you're ahead you can just park on the apex every time and they back off. God help you if you miss the apex though...because the AI divebombs are very human-like, lol. I can just hear Mr. James Broadbent watching and saying 'What's that angle, mate? You're not making that corner!'

Alot of posters are forgetting that GT7 is meant to be assessible too. Not many people want Dark Souls level of difficulty in the games they play.

I personally find it strange when people want games to be punishing when real life for a lot of folks is punishing enough.

That being said, I hope PD expands on Power Pack with future updates if they can. There's still a lot they can do, and Sophy can only be improved upon moving forward.

I think PD has been like this type in older games, like how hard the Licenses and Missions are. With AI now being under work, they're extending that to it as well. But this seems to be a career where you don't need to win all races.

Is it just me, or is it really tricky to see how wet the track is before you begin a race?

The UI and Menus make it tricky to see the track, and the weather checker only doesn't really help.

Managed to make the right call by luck at the Historic event at Le Mans in the Porsche 917K. Started on Inters when everyone else started on Hards. It continued to rain and they all pitted at the end of lap 1.

Really odd choice to have Sarah say 'It's begun to rain' when the moisture o meter is half way through...

How about you give me a forecast of the weather before I commit to a race I can't restart, or see what the weather is likely to do? Or tell me what tyres the rest of the field are starting on? Or anything that's even remotely useful please?

I'm mostly enjoying my time, but there are some awful game design decisions made here...

She also informs you late about overtakes and your position in the race, and as i mentioned before, the game doesn't even tell you the prize money before each race..

There is not even a penalty for crashes or cutting the track; so, planning a race strategy? They didn't even think about that.

How about the option to choose different colors or graphics for the cars, linking them to fictional racing teams? No, not even close.

I've come to the conclusion that this is clearly a DLC rushed out to collect money from fans with the extra cash they're willing to spend at the end of the year.

Well i did the Civic tree and that was quite fun!, then went over to the FF challenges, first was kind of easy, but what in the name is going on with the one at Big Willow?? , that number one is descently fast?!
I tried this morning but still haven't won
