For me, your analogy with McDonald’s doesn’t hold up — it’s far too narrow a view. To continue with your analogy, I’d say that if we’re such a large and loyal community, it’s because we truly enjoyed the previous installments, with GT5 and GT6 offering a ton of content for their price. We could compare that to a Big Mac menu with fries and a Coke.
On the other hand, GT Sport felt more like a menu with just fries and a Coke — no burger. We’ve all been waiting for GT7 to bring back our usual Big Mac menu, and for the more ambitious among us, we were even expecting a “Menu 280” given the price increase of PS5 games.
But instead, Polyphony has given us, for a higher price, a McFirst menu disguised as GT7 — and now a paid DLC to make up for the rather poor menu: less content and higher cost. That’s the reality — there’s no other way to put it.
It’s perfectly normal to see some fans unhappy, though there will always be people willing to accept it. Personally, if GT7 had been a Big Mac menu at launch and today they were offering a paid DLC to add a brownie, an ice cream, and some extra whipped cream, then yes — I’d gladly pay for that.
We’re not ungrateful — just realistic. That said, since the situation is what it is, I’ll still buy the DLC, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less disappointed.
