THRILLER AT THE GLEN!

Last night I did the Group C race on Watkins Glen and it delivered something truly special. I qualified first in the Sauber C9 but got swamped at the start and dropped to 5th by the first corner. After getting kicked by Takuma Sasaki on the exit of the Bus Stop, I dropped to 7th place. I battled my way back up to 3rd but Kylian Drumont wasn't making life easy for me, so it looked as though the leaders were a bridge too far. Then, on the start of lap 9, this happened:

Jose Serrano makes a critical error at turn 1, going too deep and losing the lead to Takuma Miyazono. Suddenly, the whole complexion of the race changes.

I get by Serrano going into the Bus Stop with Kylian Drumont close behind. He's also in the fight.

In a desperate attempt to stay ahead and potentially catch Miyazono, I cut the last 2 corners. The front tyres were worn a bit at this point so I was finding it hard to maintain my pace.

Serrano got back in front of me as the last lap commenced.

Drumont also passes me but...

I give him a bump and cut underneath at turn 1

Drumont gets back ahead going into the Bus Stop

I then re-take third spot leaving a whisker between me and the wall.

My exit out of the Bus Stop allowed me to pull another move on Serrano, jumping back up to second.

Serrano tries to make a lunge but has to back out. Then something else happened.

Miyazono ALSO outbrakes himself, going wide with only a few corners left!

I take the lead

Serrano also gets by Miyazono and bumps into me

Drumont makes his move shortly after Serrano. Miyazono has lost 3 positions in one corner. I lead the race with 2 corners left.

Last corner, last lap. Do I stay ahead or miss the shift and lose?
View attachment 1506104View attachment 1506105
I don't miss the shift and I win in a remarkable last lap turn of events!

Serrano gets second

Drumont edges out Miyazono for 4th. Unbelievable finish. I honestly didn't think such a thing could happen in a GT game.
Will you make it a TV Series? Group C - Full Speed? Endurance Legends - Drive to Survive?

Awesome recap! 🤟

Second endurance race done - with the 120% car! - with a pad and on stream, woohoo! :)
15/16 lap stints - final 4 laps done on softs. Miyazono's AI was 55 seconds behind when i've cross the line (he's done the final stint on hards), but on the final hour, the Mclaren is a absolute rocket. For some reason he pitted on lap 1, but without that, he would be 35/40 seconds behind.
De Bruin AI between the second and third hour is mega quick.
Impressive how the NSX is a snail on the straights, that's it's biggest handicap. Being consistent and saving the tyres is vital for the win.
3,9M Credits, lots of headhaches, but it's done!

P.S: Have to stop doing this races with the 120% car. With any of the other two, i would had a much easier win, haha

Oh interesting, I thought the cap was still 99.999.999 cr or was it ever ?
The cap on the 1.64 or 1.65 update spiked to 115M credits :)
Neither of those is correct.

The cap on "free" credits - those you are awarded from playing the game - is, and always has been, 100,000,000cr.

There is no cap on "paid" credits - those you acquire through buying them, as well as pre-order bonuses and the bonus 5m in the Power Pack - and never has been.

"Free" credits are spent before dipping into "paid" credits. If you click on this button...

... it will tell you how much you have of each type.

Genuinely didn't know that. I've seen mine spike during these updates and i thought: well, it has risen and didn't expand on the why it happened.
Learned something new today, thank you for the comment!

I'm over 7 hours into the 24 Hours of LeMans in the Sauber C9. Starting raining about 5 hours in. The racing is actually fun having to dip into the slipstream thanks to the long gearing.

Watch out for Gallo in the Jaguar. They develop a tank slapper when anyone is sat behind them on the Mulsanne, liable to take a bunch of people out.

In clean air, you're still able to build a gap to the field, the pace in the wet is a little closer.

Glad to have the suspend/resume feature as it's the only way I'd be able to run this race.

Are any of the power pack races good credit for grinding? Something to mix up Sardenga runs?
IIRC there's a 10min race that brings 180k, but you need to skip practice and quali so you lose time.

Even that is not even close to Sardegna, which is 727500 for about 25 mins. That's with the clean race bonus, but that's almost guaranteed there.

None of the PP races come close to being a decent grinding replacement unfortunately.

I am surprised there is not already a website listing all PP events, requirements and prizes.

I have tried repeatedly to complete the Spa and Suzuki endurance rounds and I can't get much further in than an hour or two. Not because it's hard, not because it's easy, not because I'm bored after doing 48 hours in the other two.

Engine Note. All the options available for both races are too buzzy, too whiny, and too shrill. All I want is a proper V8. It's why I went 1 Chili for both Le Mans and Nurbs. Both of them have pleasing (to my ear) engine notes and sounds. RIP the dream of completing the DLC :(
I can't stand the McLaren BMW V12 engine sound, so I know I will never complete the Spa 8h with them.

A few days ago the last race of my Powerpack DLC N24h is finished. After 7 hours, unfortunately the electricity connection gone in my local area and I was 1 lap beyond against 2nd. After that, game started with a kind of red flag situation like in real life and 2nd-3rd was only 0,4sec behind me and on the pole myself race started with rolling start mode. Anyways I finished all the races in first position and so enjoyed the DLC. But I think mission races in career mode much funnier than this.

P.S.: I used only Medium tyres, I had rainy weather but 5-6 laps only so no needed tyre change.

I have just over 9hrs left of the 24hr race at Le Mans. Using the 100% car was surprising hard at first as the CPU cars are much faster on the long straights but gradually got ahead and pulled out a 3 lap lead with careful using of fuel and tyre changes.
Stuck with mediums for the whole race and go between 1 & 3 for fuel, depending on the gap behind me.
It rained briefly during the first few hours and had to go onto inters.
So far, pretty easy race. Keep concentration is the hardest part of the long races.
Planning to finish this race before the 1.66 update is released later this week. After that I will face off with the final 24hrs at the "Ring".

I respect the effort you're putting in there, you're summary makes it sound compelling, but stretching that over 15hours sounds truly arduous. Gaming should be pleasurable, I hope that's the case for you.

Depending on how successful the power pack was I think it’s more likely they’ll sell us a second one in the future than them adding to the existing one.
Hypothetically, IF they go down that path, they’ll do a second one because otherwise if they add content to the first one, they might adjust its price which means the early buyers will benefit the most from it.

I did one of the rally events some days ago. Wasn’t that bad :) better than rally events in world circuits :D
But I did it with easiest car ;)
It's absolute torture to me. Especially because the Power Pack Rally cars don't have TC.

It's rally! Who says you want to be pointing in the right direction? I'm usually pointing about 90 degrees away from the direction I'm going.
That’s still vaguely the right direction. I found without CSA I was spinning out and facing 180 degrees the wrong way, or even doing a full 360. I’m simply pointing out that CSA strong will help with the rally races.
