I've been having trouble at the 2 pepper Civic Suzuka race. I've been able to start 2nd, one-tenth off the pole time, but at the start, I always lose two or three places to the more powerful Civics. The best I can do is keep up with the leaders, no chance of overtaking. My best result is a third place. Any tips to win this 2 pepper race?
I tried the no-pepper race just to get the full 20 stars and didn't bother with qualifying. I won that race by 10 seconds.
Me too. I've completed about 70% of races with two-chilis, winning most with one attempt and having to redo a couple events due to mistakes. That Civic race is the only one that's given me this much trouble. The two-chili car is down on straight line power quite a bit which gives the AI a huge advantage at long-legged Suzuka, and the AI cars keep a strong pace through the corners too, so there isn't a lot of room to put some air between us and them.
I qualified first, but they get a much stronger start putting me on the back-foot right out of the gate, and I was never able to make it back around 1st and make it stick. Stuck in 2nd.
The Civic itself isnt rewarding to drive either. I'm a fan of FF cars but this thing is set-up with so much understeer and almost zero oversteer off-throttle. Very underwhelming drive.
I'll update when I get back to it. Only one attempt so far, but I'm not super excited to get back in there.
So I had taken a huge layoff from GT7. I'm A+ rank online but I've not done an online race in probably 18 months or longer.
Recently began playing more regularly. Starting with completing all the new circuit experiences etc etc. Decided to buy the powerpack and man am I struggling.
The muscle car race at Seca I managed to come first in the 2 chili car after about 7 attempts. The GTI race in the Abarth I found quite a bit harder but managed in about 8-10 attempts.
Now the Civic race on Tokyo Express is just plain frustrating. Best I could do was qualify 5th and finish 4th when Sophy made a slight mistake. Doesn't help that I hate all the Tokyo tracks because there are no real landmarks to use as braking points.
Am I just well out of practice or is it just brutal? Are these first 3 races considered easy Vs the rest of what the powerpack has to offer? If so this is going to be more frustrating than fun. I put it on par with an A+ race online, if not harder because the AI makes less mistakes than human drivers do. Really you have to quali in the top 3 or a 1st place finish seems impossible in only 3 laps.
I'd say a little bit of both. I'm A/S and have been able to win the two-chili events in one attempt 90% of the time, 100% with two attempts.
I practice until I have a second or two up on second place. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes, sometimes I use up a good bit of the hour. I like the pressure of the AI cars being so quick.
Racing against them really rewards aggressive defense and tight lines to prevent them from diving inside. They will hunt for an opening at all times, so play defensively any time they're right on you.
I used to loathe the Tokyo layouts, but have grown to love them all. It's very satisfying to learn them and find those fast sweeping lines. There are a lot of corners where the AI cars aren't very proficient, and those are the ones you'll need to excel at.
I find it odd that so many people have stuggled with the American cars at Laguna because the Mach-40 is just so strong. I think I put 10+ seconds on the 2nd place Challenger in that one with little effort.
Regardless, here's my run at Tokyo. Hope it helps to clear up some of what you're struggling with. Being A+ you have definitely got the skill set to get the win!
