What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Maybe, just maybe this DLC is the fruit of the always-online condition of GT7.

The content is probably mostly stuff that would have been effectively impossible to implement without these 3 years of observation and data collection.

Just a thought.
I think it's also PD still trying to figure out how they can actually turn GT into a service and monetize it.

They talked about it a bunch around launch (did they even mention seasons at some point?), but nothing came out of it.
The only thing they monetize so far is credits and those are easily avoidable by just playing the game.

Content (Tracks and cars) - free
Cosmetics (liveries) - free
Weeklies - free
Online challenges - free

OK, But it's not our Fault when PD has delivered a Haf-Baked Game at Release!
We paid the Full Price but didn't get a Full Game...
So please stop always saying that we should be thankful for the FREE UPDATES...
The single player "career" was underwhelming, that is definitely true. However, I honestly don't feel that is enough to call GT7 a half-baked game when it released. It still launched with a very substantial roster or cars and circuits, and while the format of the single player was not what most wanted, it did have a lot of events. All in all, as a game, GT7 released as a comprehensive package that has provided many players with countless hours of content.

So yeah, I definitely feel like you're doing PD a disservice here and you could be more appreciative of all the free content we've received during its lifespan.

I see numbers 17, 18, and 19 on the track. More cars? :)

I've now looked into the whole thing in my own language.

And as I understand it, all the improvements are only available in Power Pack mode (the large ship).

That means outside of that mode, there's neither Sophie 3.0 nor the race weekends with qualifying mode.

I get that, very true what you are saying.
I just feel endurance races should have been there from the launch of GT7. Now it feels a bit sour to have to pay for it + how many races will actually be 24hr?

As i'm saying it now for the third time: i have no problem paying for the DLC. I just feel some things we had for free back in the old days.
If you want endurance races in GT7 in the launch version, you don't need any DLC or even an update. Go to custom race and set up a race of up to 24 hours, or even longer on some tracks because you can select 200 laps, which at the Nürburgring means 28 or 30 hours.

It's not fair to those of us that do not have ps5 (and there are many), why do we get excluded? It's not fair
Well, what should they do...end all further devolpment for GT7 because the PS4 can't take any more ?

I am on a PS4 as well, but certain loading processes are already taking to long, not to mention the constant break downs in the photo mode and the fact that Spohy is not compatible für the PS4...

That is not a question of fairness, it is a question of computing power...

That's the worst argument you could have chosen.

For three years we were told to stop complaining because we could already generate endurance races in "Custom Race" mode. And now we're supposed to pay for something that you say is already in the game ?

This update gets more and more insane. But has me curious. I haven't kept up with everything as much as I probably should, so forgive me if some of this is highlighted.

But it makes me wonder if every race in the power pack has you restricted to use the car they want you to use.
If Sophy 3.0 is exclusively for the power pack or if there will be moderate changes to Sophy 2.0 for this update.
Will these events be replayable for the same credit rewards?

Idk, there are so many questions I'm curious about with this entire update and DLC (which I plan on buying) I'm just wildly excited about it all.

I feel confused... why release paid DLC three years later and not during the first year? Also why limit to Sophy AI/PS5 and prevent one third of GT7 install base from buying it?
Because the one third on the PS4(I am one of them...) won't be able to use that content on the PS4...

I'm not assuming you should pay for anything; buy the DLC if you find its content compelling, or don't buy it if you don't. It’s the exact same choice as buying the main game. However, complaining 3 years later that the main GT7 game was "half a game" because it lacked endurance races doesn't make much sense. This is because you can already create very long-duration races if you wish, and also because a dedicated endurance race series was never a prominently advertised feature during all of GT7's pre-launch information and promotion.

The idea that GT7, with all its content, is only "half a game" and that the "other half" would be a specific endurance racing section seems fallacious. Ultimately, such a section would merely boil down to an event banner, a race preset (which you can already create freely in the game), and an adjustment to the credit payout (say, 2 million), which doesn't justify calling the base game incomplete.

It's like trying to run current phone apps on a iPhone 5c/s, or expecting a PC with Windows 8 to still run current software. That's how old the PS4 is.

My only tiny gripe with this DLC would be that it's a shame that Sophy 3.0 is locked behind paywall.

I thought that AI at least should have been a part of base Spec III update.
I really don't see how it would even be possible for Sony to maintain 2 different versions of Sophy. I'm pretty sure Sophy 3.0 will also be in the Spec III update, but probably just replicating what Sophy 2.0 is currently doing (in terms of available tracks, etc). The DLC will get the full featured Sophy 3.0.

I think there are enough offline and online races so far in the game where you can use garage cars!
I don't understand this view at all?

The entire point of GT is the car collection you slowly build up over the course of the game, which lets you compete in different events. For this DLC to feature actual race days with proper AI, and then lock you to what the game wants you to drive instead of your own car that fits the regulations, is one of the most bone-headed decisions I can possibly imagine PD making.

In essence it just becomes another railroaded campaign instead of an all-new experience. And this time it doesn't even seem like you get paid for the events.

I don't think that Honda event is a single race event. The 16 stars interests me - my guess is it means there is more than one race in that event, 16 is an odd number as it doesn't divide by 3 or 5 (15 would be more straightforward).

My guesses are:
1. 4 races of 4 stars each (which might include the 3 tracks we had in Weekly Challenges plus one new one). (1 star for completing. 1 for bronze, 2 for silver, 3 for gold?)
2. 3 races of 5 stars each (1 for bronze, 3 for silver, 5 for gold), plus 1 extra star for winning the championship.
3. 5 races of 3 stars each (1 for bronze, 2 for silver, 3 for gold), plus 1 extra star for winning championship.

Personally, I think option 2 sounds the most likely.
Not writing that all out again , but here are my thoughts about the event structure and in particular, what the 16 stars could mean.

I think you're probably right.

What I will say though, is that if the next instalment turns out to be "Gran Turismo Live" (cringe), then PD will have to absolutely nail it from Day 1. Let's see if the PP delivers!

The live service strategy was former Sony CEO Jim Ryan's idea. It was not successful and is not a priority anymore. It could still be true that Sony and PD would like to turn a successful franchise like Gran Turismo into a subscription model but just wanted to point this out in case it was the reason for the live service suspicions.

snc
I wonder at what price community response will be negative, 40$+ ?
Anything above $20 will be outrageous. I don't care how much the credit MTX cost. Those are ridiculously overpriced anyway, so using them as a barometer is not the gotcha people think it is. I keep bouncing off the 100 mil limit, I don't care about an extra 5 mil. I just want the races.
