What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

In terms of the power pack content specifically, I think it's what Missions were supposed to be. I’ve never bothered with the mode much since I find it boring. Is there any fan of the mode out there? Idk, I’d bet Missions are not coming back for GT8 😅

Should have the power pack been in the game on launch instead of Missions? Ideally, yeah. But expecting it now for free is absurd.
Well, considering Project Motor Racing is releasing soon, changes things a bit. Where do I spend my money? On some races and supposedly better AI? Or just try a new racing game entirely? I don’t think it’s absurd. One could argue it was absurd to buy GT7 and find out it has some music rally mode in it and yes I agreed the missions weren’t really anything that interested me. Maybe I should go back and have another go at them. The most absurd thing is the lack of tune sharing. Some of this stuff, they don’t mention it and you have to assume it would be in game. Had they said from day one somewhere, clearly, you can share tunes, you can’t gift cars, there will be no AI populating in multiplayer custom lobbies, we don’t have lotus, here’s all the tracks and there are no plans of these tracks coming to the game in the future etc… may change your mind about buying the game. Instead you buy it, have fun with the portions of the game you can and the rest try not to complain about it too much. Clarity helps a lot. Just like the power pack, they’ve announced what it is and what it includes but is that it? People are still speculating on the price, if anything else will be including. Why drip feed so much information all the time. Lay it out for people. It reduces the chances of people feeling duped.
I really hope that we can create online lobbies and fill out the grid with Sophy AI bots. That would be absolutely stellar! Especially with what I hope Sophy 3.0 will offer. That paired with an updated VR UI.... Timing boards, Tire temps/deg (for pancake and VR).

I'm not going to get my overly excited about the idea but I can't help but have an inkling of hope.
I know some don’t like that idea, but multiclass racing would be great with AI. I’d love that feature either to have them competitive or just slower race cars that become moving obstacles. It’s a feature in Project Motor Racing, tough to spend the mystery amount a power pack DLC with such little information on it or buy an entirely new game which will have AI in lobbies and a whole bunch of “new races”. If the DLC price is too close to a new game or even half the price, why put the money towards that versus a new game? I think for me, AI off the bat in GT7 was disappointing so paying for better AI seems a bit off. That’s just my opinion though, others are gladly welcoming it.

That doesn't explain why it's upsetting that the dlc is not free.

A problem with that kind of reasoning is that from a customer's perspective anything should have been included in the first place. Course maker, hillclimb, B-spec, moon missions, Nascar, WRC, etc. etc. The fact you think those features should have been in the game from the beginning doesn't mean that PD owes you those features free of charge.
Well there are things you expect are part of the game because they were always there or a new feature added that were present in the last two releases only to be removed from the latest. Somebody mentioned heated seats and bmw. Imagine every two years you bought a specific model of truck and it came with heated seats. This went on for years, almost to where you habitually just buy knowing your last three or four had heated seats in that model, then you find out, nope same price but they removed heated seats and didn’t announce “just so you know, we’re removing heated seats from this particular truck model”. You’d be upset and feel duped. Would you not? Don’t argue read the fine print or do your research because maybe the fine print wasn’t even there in the first place and based on previous purchases there was no reason to believe it was a feature that would ever be removed.
There is no concept of “in the first place” there just things that weren’t included.

This is not the same as locking a feature(s) already in the game and making you pay for the heated seats unlock (BMW cough!)

Expectation, is not analogous with “it should be” it’s “I think this is how it should have been”

But here is the big rub, that’s how YOU play the game, went through the game and what YOU want from the game.

I completed the game, have all the cars, the platinum trophy etc and only play sport mode now. Is my way better? Is it worse?

It’s just how I get my enjoyment.

Not specifically at you but there seems to be a slight disconnect from reality, the game was sold as a live service game and to be fair they have largely delivered on that.
Fair enough in how you get enjoyment out of a game.

For me I did expect certain things to be there from day one since it was many years since the last and processing power got better on the next gen console. I really did think we’d have AI in lobbies for GT7 and I really didn’t expect them to remove tune sharing. I also expected the AI to be much much better. They’re doing it with Sophy but that’s after the fact. A lot of people were probably finished most of the racing portions when Sophy got introduced. Hey we know you raced all the races but do it again with the better AI? Seems odd to me. Like ummm that would have been nice to be my first experience.

*and thanks to whoever compiled these replies for me, I’ve yet to figure out how to do that, could be my phone holding me back on that.

Honestly, behind all this debate, I still don't understand the problem with buying a PS5. If you play games, it sounds like a good investment, spending $500/€500 once every 5-6 years "And enjoy the best versions of the game "Without taking into PC".
I'm sure you spend much larger amounts on impulse purchases during this time.
Yes, there were problems at the start, but I pre-ordered it, waited a month, and a courier delivered it to me. Back when Sony was still officially operating in my country.
Then the PS5 PRO came out. My country was hit with a ton of sanctions, and Sony left. I bought the PRO for 62,985 Russian rubles, or $777.40. But I also sold the regular PS5digital. In the end, the PRO cost me about $240 "The exchange rate changed and I sold my PS5 for more than I bought it for".
I can still understand the complaints of Brazilians or RCA about prices with their salaries "Maybe I don't have much more" But to hear something like this from residents of European countries, and even from some US citizens, is strange to me.

I'm really looking forward to playing 1,500 hours of GT7. I hope it'll be around $20-25.
Honestly...I have a PS5 personally. I just hate the PS5 controller since it feels big in my hand, so it's why I prefer to play PS4 only games.
So for me it's just super annoying that I can't support and get this DLC for the PS4 version and am being forced to use the PS5 version.

Also, if I can complain more, the PS5 not allowing you to back up saves on a USB like in PS4 is also another reason why i don't like playing PS5 games.

Ya, I agree. The possibility is there, but at the moment the AI doesn't fight for every position, so you can make your way through the latter half of the field fairly easily much of the time. Also, there's no special classification.

I put one together for the custom races(Group C and LMGT) and it's fun/competitive for the Group C cars. For the second class, it's ok, but not as competitive. The few times where I am fighting for position and the blue flags come out, it's cool. There isn't enough of this.

GT7 doesn't allow you to save games locally on the console, whether on PS4 or PS5, let alone transfer them to a USB pendrive. The save files are stored on the online server, precisely because in previous games, save files could be exported via USB, decrypted, and modified on a computer to gain access to money, duplicate items, access unpaid DLC content, etc.

We are reaching a level of discussion where I soon wouldn't be surprised to read about people who own both a PS4 and PS5, and copies of the game for both systems, yet still see it as an outrage that the DLC isn't coming out on PS4, given that they prefer playing on that console instead of the PS5 because, in Spanish, 'PS5' has an ill-sounding rhyme. 🤷‍♂️

I’m going to be purchasing the DLC regardless of price - but I think anything over $40 usd is a money grab. Obviously the cheaper the better, but 20-40 bucks sounds fair. That’s less than a dollar per race, with a much better value for the 24 hour races (my guess is 24 hour events for Daytona, Nurburgring, Spa, Le Mans, and Road Atlanta….with a couple other endurance events at Bathurst and maybe Suzuka or Fuji).

The only thing that would give me sour grapes if the DLC is at the >$40 mark, is if the events are one and done mission-type races, which I don’t think they will be

Nothing in the trailer or articles suggests there's any reward beyond the set 'gifts' in the first place, and I don't expect you to be able to repeatedly get those if they're counted.
I would love to be wrong but I'm not optimistic they're not going to have stamped the Polyphony wasted opportunity mark all over this again.

I hope they aren't one and done races either. That honestly killed the entire mission area for me. They were mostly great challenges, but not being able to get credits for rerunning them was an absolute waste of some great and creative events.

Maybe sit this one out then. I didn't "reference" gt8, I asked a very clear question on what you expected to be included in it, and you whiffed on an answer. You're just spinning up words to make an argument.

This is an $80 game, nothing included in it is "free".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you expected GT7 to have some of the features of the Power Pack and were disappointed that it didn't. I would expect the gifts to be one and done, with the IG race credits being repeatable - much like weekly challenges are now. Hopefully they learned their lesson with the missions - which were bad game design by very fun races with little replay value from a monetary standpoint, once the reward was collected.

Short of spec 2/spec 3 and updates and MFGT AND the DLC

I’m just glad that thy didn’t package all that stuff in to a “GT Concept HD Prologue” stand lone game…..

I get what you're saying, & i hasten to add i know little about programming, but im scratching my head here, as you`ll know, at the end of each race you are given a race result showing finishing order, plus at the bottom of some races, the fastest lap. with this info in the system would it take much more programming to extend this info into a leader board per race ?

That concept is not difficult at all… execution is a whole other thing.

They do have this feature in Championships so it’s not like it doesn’t exist already in their code. The issue is when “customers” try to build their own rules (like fastest lap points) or wanting to use their own point schemes (I’m looking at you reverse points), the number of rounds will matter, what to do in the event of a tie etc etc

If Sony was smart, they’d have PD curate an “Endurance Championship” with high payouts and gifts. Have a couple of the events under the Spec 3.0 update umbrella that can be played against either Sophy or standard AI…. so they can have the relative illusion of “console parity”, then paywall the majority of them behind the DLC.

…Then offer a promotional and redeemable DLC code for any new PS5/Pro activated between now and the end of February.

To be fair that’s fairly trivial ii you are a company writing its own close to the metal shaders and raytracing pipelines in a game with very sophisticated calculus/geometry for rendered cameras including VR.

I think the reality is more investment over player value, going Occam’s razor on this.

Just playing devils advocate here

Well, that would be a bit dramatic.
Apparently, it's impossible too.
I will just change my attitude and quit the drama. I will be waiting for an opportunity to fetch a PS5, meanwhile I will enjoy the game on PS4.

My disappointment got in the way of my reason, I do have some psychological issues which prevent me sometimes to cope with unexpected and mostly unpleasant news.

People experience this as childish and entitlement but actually it's much more serious than that. It's really the incapacity of processing unforeseen matters like any other person and part of the larger condition I have.

Mental health is a serious thing, glad you recognise it and understand it.

You frustration is valid but honestly it really shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that PS4 which hasn’t had Sophy or Raytracing is being less and less supported especially when you have Mark Cerny starting the PS6 tech roadshows and PR, the writing is on the wall when it comes to a lot of AAA and AAA+ games supporting 3 generations.

Just remember we all have opinions and feelings reality and facts can counterdict them. That’s how we learn.

I will look into "expectation management" as you suggested earlier and also try to get in front of the news concerning PS5 and the evolution of gaming.

I appreciate the patience and understanding. This here, this really is just me, I am actually a real nice person but yesterday was the different me. Don't ask me how I managed to raise a family with 2 kids cause I just don't understand it myself sometimes. I do get professional help since 7 years though.

Well, being overly informative yet again, I must stop myself right now. Good evening.

I honestly think they would have done this if it were 2007. It kind of has that same "next game is a couple of years out still, we need a bridge to it" feel like GT5 Prologue had.

Nowadays the need to not split online playerbase means Prologues are unviable though, yeah.

The Power Pack is all about Sophy 3.0, isn't it? That's how I interpreted it, anyway. It's not really about the 50 events that they've used to showcase 3.0, it's about the next step in Sophy and showing what it can do
This is my line of thinking (hoping for the RETURN of B-SPEC BOB :D).

Though I do have this bad feeling that, based on the screenshot with the NSX GT500 being "borrowed," the events will restrict you to using their offerings instead of using your own cars. I think this is the way because, as an example, the JGTC Special Event (and Daily Race) only lets you borrow cars. Same with the recent Group C event.

I also think this is the only way PD can limit the player into using a car that is meant for an event and prevent them from using something clearly not in line with what they're shooting for. As another example, they probably don't want some modern car running a JGTC* event, but they don't want an engine-swapped and overpowered EG Civic running either.

*As a note, I'm using 90s JGTC fields to reference their wild variety, given that there probably isn't a way for PD to restrict garage car requirements without cutting off something that would fit in for the period.
Kaz once said the best way to play GT7 is on PS5, PSVR2 and a wheel. The game was developed that way. Sure, casual gamers may not know this. Many may not care. Any one gamer’s situation will vary financially and gaming libraries can reflect that.
Absolutely. Although I don't regret one cent of purchasing every item to get the full, "Kaz Experience," it is a tall order asking gamers to drop over a grand to get all the items involved (especially when it feels like the PSVR2 is being neglected by PD considering we still don't have splits :grumpy:)

Does anybody know the exact date when we see what’s all included in the power pack? Until then there’s almost no point in discussing it unless PD is watching these posts trying to figure out how to price it. If that’s the case, they should just release it free.

The reason I ask is some updates have had things fixed or changed and it’s only in the notes after the fact. Like somebody asked if AI would be in multiplayer lobbies. That could be the case but we won’t know until it’s released right? Would they purposely hold back info on what’s all included? If they aren’t, it’s a weak paid for dlc imo.

Outside of PD? Nope.

I'd guess "when we least expect it". Also, I'm busy tomorrow so, under Famine's Law of Inconvenience...
Good to know. And funny how speculation works. I’m having trouble keeping the facts straight in my mind of what they announced and what I’ve read in here. I’ll have to review the announcement. Again. Haha

The more it's discussed. I think it's going to end up being around $12-15. Not real new content is being sold. It's just the ability to use a different part of the game, and the addition to Sophy 3.0.

Remember, Kaz doesn’t want players to keep repeating races. So, there’s that bit of a nugget.

Get your prize cars and get to steppin’. Enjoy the prize cars in the next Weekly Challenges, Scapes and Custom races with GT SOPHY. I guess players that go do Lobby and Paddock meet ups will be able to show off cars PS4 players won’t have.

idk if this has been covered or mentioned here? But I watched this video and at the start the guy mentioned the Legend Dealer icon is missing, has the Hagerty deal ended?

It's been mentioned but it's not particularly meaningful.

The building (and blue Hagerty flags) is still there, so it's not part of a map update and since the map has been updated to add the ship you'd have thought they'd delete it at the same time if that was the intent.

In any case, even if Hagerty was no longer associated with it, the Legends Cars dealer could continue without the branding. It was Brighton Antiques before launch*.

All that's missing is the icon - which isn't Hagerty-branded in any case - and that's a dynamic object (it's not permanently there; you unlock it as you progress for instance).

They probably just forgot to toggle it on in the dev build.

Also we already saw it in the Spec III demo.

Anyone else think it's inspired by the Royal Ordnance Depot at Weedon Bec?

Nobody really knows yet. It could well be one of several plausible explanations for its omission there.

Yeah, I also never bought credits and I never would. Same for most ppl on this forum I guess.

But the truth is that we're probably just a minority. We have no idea how many people are there who are willing to spend money on credits. PD knows.
So I guess all we can do is wait until they announce the price.
To quote a famous Jedi: "I have a bad feeling about this" But I hope I'm wrong😉

I've probably spent about £400 on the game in the three years, often buying 2,000,000cr on pay day, but livery creation/car modding is my thing so it cuts out the middle man of racing, which I don't always want to do. As I take a lot of photomode content, I don't get credits for the track time I do (time trial) so it's a means to an end for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you expected GT7 to have some of the features of the Power Pack and were disappointed that it didn't. And now you're upset because while they are finally adding those features, you don't want to pay for them because you feel like you already bought them when you paid for the game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you should expect that a game that names itself as "The Real Driving Simulator" to have qualifying sessions for the races in it's base version, right?

I love GT since the first game (I'm almost 40 now and the series had a huge part in my life and in my gearhead personality), but a simple qualify is a core feature in any race category and should never be part of a DLC only. And to make it worse, as it seems, the qualifying sessions will be ONLY in the new "Power Pack races" that will be added, not on the already existing ones.

The 24 hour races were always suggested to be in the game since its trailers, (as the multi-category races, one of the early trailers showed GT3 and GT4 cars running at Le Mans) and now, it's a DLC feature, almost 4 years after the game's release.

Sophy 3.0 should be the main focus of this DLC and its pricing. Selling core features of a racing game (QUALIFY), don't. The 5m credits makes it even worse, as a lot of people might not want it right now and would debate to remove the credits and charge less for the DLC.

They are trying to make up for the great things that they give as DLC for free and should cost something (as the tracks and cars), and charging us for features that should be in the game since its launch. But we all know that PD's logic is something messy.

But in the end, I really hope that all of these features are being tested now in GT7 to be present in the "base" GT8 release.
