Well, considering Project Motor Racing is releasing soon, changes things a bit. Where do I spend my money? On some races and supposedly better AI? Or just try a new racing game entirely? I don’t think it’s absurd. One could argue it was absurd to buy GT7 and find out it has some music rally mode in it and yes I agreed the missions weren’t really anything that interested me. Maybe I should go back and have another go at them. The most absurd thing is the lack of tune sharing. Some of this stuff, they don’t mention it and you have to assume it would be in game. Had they said from day one somewhere, clearly, you can share tunes, you can’t gift cars, there will be no AI populating in multiplayer custom lobbies, we don’t have lotus, here’s all the tracks and there are no plans of these tracks coming to the game in the future etc… may change your mind about buying the game. Instead you buy it, have fun with the portions of the game you can and the rest try not to complain about it too much. Clarity helps a lot. Just like the power pack, they’ve announced what it is and what it includes but is that it? People are still speculating on the price, if anything else will be including. Why drip feed so much information all the time. Lay it out for people. It reduces the chances of people feeling duped. In terms of the power pack content specifically, I think it's what Missions were supposed to be. I’ve never bothered with the mode much since I find it boring. Is there any fan of the mode out there? Idk, I’d bet Missions are not coming back for GT8 😅
Should have the power pack been in the game on launch instead of Missions? Ideally, yeah. But expecting it now for free is absurd.
I know some don’t like that idea, but multiclass racing would be great with AI. I’d love that feature either to have them competitive or just slower race cars that become moving obstacles. It’s a feature in Project Motor Racing, tough to spend the mystery amount a power pack DLC with such little information on it or buy an entirely new game which will have AI in lobbies and a whole bunch of “new races”. If the DLC price is too close to a new game or even half the price, why put the money towards that versus a new game? I think for me, AI off the bat in GT7 was disappointing so paying for better AI seems a bit off. That’s just my opinion though, others are gladly welcoming it.I really hope that we can create online lobbies and fill out the grid with Sophy AI bots. That would be absolutely stellar! Especially with what I hope Sophy 3.0 will offer. That paired with an updated VR UI.... Timing boards, Tire temps/deg (for pancake and VR).
I'm not going to get my overly excited about the idea but I can't help but have an inkling of hope.
Well there are things you expect are part of the game because they were always there or a new feature added that were present in the last two releases only to be removed from the latest. Somebody mentioned heated seats and bmw. Imagine every two years you bought a specific model of truck and it came with heated seats. This went on for years, almost to where you habitually just buy knowing your last three or four had heated seats in that model, then you find out, nope same price but they removed heated seats and didn’t announce “just so you know, we’re removing heated seats from this particular truck model”. You’d be upset and feel duped. Would you not? Don’t argue read the fine print or do your research because maybe the fine print wasn’t even there in the first place and based on previous purchases there was no reason to believe it was a feature that would ever be removed. That doesn't explain why it's upsetting that the dlc is not free.
A problem with that kind of reasoning is that from a customer's perspective anything should have been included in the first place. Course maker, hillclimb, B-spec, moon missions, Nascar, WRC, etc. etc. The fact you think those features should have been in the game from the beginning doesn't mean that PD owes you those features free of charge.
Fair enough in how you get enjoyment out of a game. There is no concept of “in the first place” there just things that weren’t included.
This is not the same as locking a feature(s) already in the game and making you pay for the heated seats unlock (BMW cough!)
Expectation, is not analogous with “it should be” it’s “I think this is how it should have been”
But here is the big rub, that’s how YOU play the game, went through the game and what YOU want from the game.
I completed the game, have all the cars, the platinum trophy etc and only play sport mode now. Is my way better? Is it worse?
It’s just how I get my enjoyment.
Not specifically at you but there seems to be a slight disconnect from reality, the game was sold as a live service game and to be fair they have largely delivered on that.
For me I did expect certain things to be there from day one since it was many years since the last and processing power got better on the next gen console. I really did think we’d have AI in lobbies for GT7 and I really didn’t expect them to remove tune sharing. I also expected the AI to be much much better. They’re doing it with Sophy but that’s after the fact. A lot of people were probably finished most of the racing portions when Sophy got introduced. Hey we know you raced all the races but do it again with the better AI? Seems odd to me. Like ummm that would have been nice to be my first experience.
*and thanks to whoever compiled these replies for me, I’ve yet to figure out how to do that, could be my phone holding me back on that.
