What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Not gonna touch the paid DLC, but the two cars in the photo intrigue me. A tease for further GT Auto mods? Race Modifications?

Never seen a jacked up Beetle like that in the game with fog lights.

Somehow I don't think this will be priced at $20 if they also give a 5 million credit bonus lol

I hope I'm wrong though, I'm interested in the DLC.
I mean at a glance you’d be right, BUT consider a hypothetical scenario.

Let’s say hypothetically it is $20, that 5 million bonus will be a one off compared to the repeatable credit packs we already have, but in addition to the extra dlc, that 5 million bonus gives folks that extra incentive to get the dlc vs just buying credits.

Sure in this hypothetical scenario they could sell it for more than $20 just on the credit value alone, but you might potentially scare off potential buyers.

Whereas at $20, the player gets a good deal, Sony gets more potential buyers and profit vs a higher price, but less incentive for folks to buy and potential less buyers and profit IMO.

The Article

More importantly, it also appears to soft-announce the launch date for Spec III. The Power Pack itself will be available on December 4, but it requires Spec III/1.64 and the promo trailer includes the new Ferrari 296 GT3 that will arrive in Spec III. That very much hints that December 4th is the day it all lands.

I believe Kaz himself has confirmed in the SoP video that the PP will be available "at the same time" as Spec III.

I will say, my Japanese isn't that good, so if anyone can help confirm or deny this, I'm all ears.

Looks like Sophy 3.0 might be exclusive to the Power Pack. From the page on the GT website.

I really hope it's not $60, but I'll still buy it if it is (don't tell Kaz!). This (plus the Spec III of course) is the shot in the arm this game needed.

Currently I really only play the game for the league races I am in. Saturday is the finals for the current league with the next one not slated to start until mid-January (due to people being busy with the holidays). So having these drop will definitely keep me playing between the leagues, especially with the time off work for Christmas/New Years, etc.

YMMV

I'm grateful for the free updates program on GT7 and I willingly pay for a meaty DLC.

But I've never been interested in credits packs. I understand the price is still to be confirmed, but I won't spend 50 bucks just because the 5 million credit pack itself is expensive.

In the "English" version (Kaz still speaking Japanese), if you turn on the closed captioning you can read what he's saying. He says, "...at the end of the year." so still a bit ambiguous. But I don't see how they can do the PP without Spec III, especially since that TT has to be done in time for the final event in Japan.

It’s crazy to me that themed, tightly restricted entry requirement, well thought out campaign races are only now being added, after 3 and a half years, and only behind a paywall. Thats really frustrating for me, given the biggest holdbacks this game has had has been its poor single player races - both in campaign structure, neutered AI, and generic open entry requirements (please, just five more Sunday Cups please). It’s also so weird to see them spend so much resources bringing back the time and weather simulation for this title only to wait these said 3.5 years to bring in content that actually fully uses them.

These have always seemed like the easiest aspects to implement into the game, PD somehow nailed all the hard stuff and left the structure out, it’s so weird. I’m glad we’re getting some of it now, better late then never, but it’s still very frustrating that it’s locked behind a secondary pay wall to have it.

Negative thoughts out of the way now - one thing I’ve championed is the idea of paid content in the form of cosmetics - more official stickers or shapes, full detailed pre-made official liveries, and/or additional visual/aero/body mods. Potentially this could run an additional revenue stream that would enable the continued flow of free car and track content to the rest of the playerbase, those most enthusiastic would have the option to add more modifications to their rides. If the teaser is indicating what it seems to be, the Power Pack parts may make it worth the money for me. I’m happy to pay for content that I can genuinely make use of, and isn’t artificially held back like the aforementioned campaign races/structure. For me this is the most interesting part of the news that I’m hoping to learn more about.
They've been talking up getting decent AI for years and now it's pay to play?
I have a feeling 3.0 will be available to everyone, it’s just the Power Pack campaign is exclusively Sophy AI, or at least designed around it, rather than the base game’s lack luster race design and AI behavior. I’d expect 3.0 to be available in custom races for everyone, IMO it’d be weird if this specifically is locked behind a paywall.
Sophy wasn’t a thing then.
He’s talking about the event structure and the more thought out event cards and entry requirements, not inherently the AI you compete against in them. And he’s right, pretty much every single other GT game prior had a very creative and iconic list of events in the campaign, 7 was like 80% Sunday, Clubman, Drivetrain specific, or WTC events, with basically the only restrictions being the PP cap, nothing else. Weight, power, modification parts, it was basically all unrestricted “drive everything” slop. Thats fine in chunks, but when it’s the majority there’s no direction or structure or memorable content.
To be fair, they did say endurance races were coming... Three years ago....
Soon™ strikes again.

This is great. GT7 is easily my most played game on PS5 with all the content they've given us over the years. Don't mind paying for what looks to be some additions people have been wanting for a long time.

Since it looks like they're bringing back some of the weekly themed events, such as the JGTC one, I wonder how they will handle it now that it is touted as an endurance event. Previously they had fuel usage disabled because a bunch of the cars were road cars that they added tuning parts to emulate their racing counterparts. If it's an actual endurance event this time will they add some sort of racing engine customization option so that they can compete on fuel consumption with the likes of the GT500 Supra?

Yes they should. And it had a good run on the PS4, massive installed base.

But now as many said, now it's the perfect time to move on to PS5.
Supporting PS4 users has left online with only 16 player lobbies, it is a last gen experience and it really isn't good enough.

By all means they should've continued supporting GT Sport for longer, but multi-gen at launch just means a compromised game. Imagine PD launching Gran Turismo 3 in 2001 to be PS1 compatible.

Spec III + Power Pack sounds like it's going to be Gran Turismo 7.5! The step just before going to GT8....PS5 exclusive to get us all set for going to the PS6...to which GT7.5 and GT8 will be cross platform...

Just predicting...

They are pretty strict with credit cap you can win in game or buy in cash. I'd say 5 Mil its probably $50. So you are basically buying $50 worth of credits and getting the Power Pack for free. I'm game, i have to get that big schooner in my dock.

Looks like a money grab to me to boost earnings till GT8. Imho, all they are seemingly offering should be part of the upcoming Spec III update, and all should have been done years ago, maybe even from the beginning.

I find it astonishing that I have had more enjoyment and longevity from GT Sport than I have had from GT7. It has been such a let down.

I'm happy that those that are willing to pay are getting something they seemingly can't wait to hand money over for, and I hope it they feel it will be worth the money when/if they get it, but I don't want to encourage PD down this route.

So what are you all taking from the statement "Sophy 3.0 available exclusively with power pack"?

Will we have the new Sophy into custom races possibly?

We did see that Fuji, Nurburgring Tourist, and Tokyo central are part of the power pack, all tracks that weren't supported by Sophy before.

I don't see why not to unlock Sophy 3.0 to custom race mode, even if it's behind the dlc ownership.

It's perhaps tailored to these 50 specific car & track scenarios, as oppose to the significantly greater number of combinations possible in the Custom Race mode like Sophy A.I. 2.0 is.
Yeah, after a conversation I had with someone in the community, I realised it might be like that, where it's specifically tuned to better handle tyre wear and fuel usage with a small number of cars.

We'll see.

I'm excited for Practice and qualifying really. Just driving around during practice like we could do in GT4.

So you basically have to pay for his excuses to become a reality, well played I guess.

Interesting take... But it would make sense to open the upgraded AI to custom races. Like said above, we know of new supported tracks (Fuji and Tokyo central)...
