From what I’ve been able to deduce from the impressions of those trying it on this forum, it’s kind of a mixed bag of good or bad, mostly depending on your skill level and play style.
If you’re a top of the charts A+ Sport player, you might still be looking for more of a challenge, and don’t feel like a huge amount was added. If you’re very low skill, it may even be too difficult. If you’re a competitive online player, this may be up your alley if you’re already happy with Sport Mode. If you’re a fan of PD’s character and themed events, and quirky old racing formats, you’ll probably have a mostly positive experience, the negatives being to lack of choice in what cars you can drive. If you’re a “traditional” Gran Turismo player, you’re likely to still be disappointed by the fact that your garage has basically no impact on the DLC, and you have very limited options on progression or alternative ways to perform in the events. I.E, no cars from your garage, no tuning the cars you’re given, not even a paint color option.
For me, the races themselves look very fun, and I like the unique tuned cars you get as rewards - I kinda wish there was a few more, but so far the batch we got and the details they have look pretty dang good. What still really lacks for me is the traditional Gran Turismo experience, of picking a car for a set of entry stipulations. That’s the bit that this DLC is missing for me. We’ve got new options for playing, but we’re still missing the core traditional element, now being able to pick between unlimited open entry boring cookie cutter races with crappy AI in the base game, or pre-selected cars on an engaging race format with capable AI in Power Pack. What I want is bits and pieces of both of those things.
It’s also really scummy to see how they’ve placed the 5mil credit pack amongst the Power Pack, that to me seems absolutely intentionally done to confuse people into double purchasing. $30 is already pretty steep for an expansion, no matter how long the game has been running with free updates. I’d also frankly prefer to buy the pack without the credits for something cheaper like $10-15, I don’t like how it plays into my playthrough and progression of the base game for one, and in general don’t need the credits. I didn’t even like credits being part of my preorder bonus, it kinda ruined the opening stretch where you’re tight on cash and have to scrounge with economy cars and lower end tuning parts.
That all said, I’m really happy to see that PD is at least still capable of creating authentic, creative, and vibrant curated races for single player. I wish this amount of care went into the base game of GT7. As it stands, I would be very happy if GT8s campaign is structured a lot like this, but with maybe 120-200 races and/or championships, more branching paths in the progression layout, and every event (or at least a vast majority, like 90%+) having you pull from your garage and have specific entry requirements, and have cool special tuned cars as rewards for certain milestones or races.
IMO, that’d be one of the ultimate ways to take the old school Gran Turismo formula to the modern era. If nothing more I have hope.
