What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

Le mans and Nürburgring 24 hour races need 500 stars and the red tree for Nürburgring and the yellow for le mans
You got a screen shot of that at all? Race durations and circuit layouts etc?

I heard something like you can have 24h at Le Mans but you cannot call them 24h Le Mans as that understandably falls under the licence held by LMU.
I think the licence is actually held by the ACU, so they ultimately control everything about the race - which they have currently only granted to LMU (as fair as we know, pending a reply to the above)

I spent around an hour with the Power Pack last night and something caught my ear.

The narrator (I can't remember her name) states that you should "pay attention to tire temperature" during your outlap. That gives me hope that PD will implement a tire temp UI element in the future. Now... I realize "the future" could be 4 years from now when it comes to PD but I remain hopeful that it'll be sooner. It'd be great to truly know that your tires are up to the proper temperature in this mode.

I remain disappointed but not surprised that VR users are being ignored...

Aside from the above, I LOVE the new updates.

A "tire temperature" UI is completely useless.

When you leave the pits, your tires need a few corners to warm up. When you spin the rears, they're hot, and will have less grip. There you go - UI Issue solved. You don't need a UI to tell you if you have more or less grip.

FYI - I just confirmed that the DLC cars can be used for Sophy custom races. I did it with the GT Tuned Skyline, so I expect the rest will also work

Having spent a few hours now with the DLC my main take-away is that it should have been two separate things. The DLC that expands the base game is great. I love the new cars, the level update (though I'm already max again), the permanent invitations, new tracks, and new races.

The Power Pack part should have been a new game. It's 100% arcade. There's nothing that ties it to Gran Turismo outside of the tracks used and that PD is the developer and publisher.

It's as robust and replayable as Ridge Racer 5 was from like 2002. Once you complete a "challenge" (and I can't even call it that b/c even with using the 2 Chilli car I'm winning by seconds) there's no reason ever to go back to it whereas in the base game you can go back and try a different car, different setup, etc.

Progression of the "Race Weekend" isn't great either. While practice can be fun most of the time 5 laps is all that is needed to dial the braking points in and grasp the handling of the car.

Qualifying is a joke. I mean it's great that I can start up front now instead of chase the rabbit but for the most part it's 1-2 laps is all that's needed and the rest of the time you're sitting in the pit screen with fast forward going.
The racing has been amazing! That's the part that keeps me from wanting a refund. My main issue here is that while I'm presented with 3 options that I can't change in any way there's often 3-4 other options the AI gets to have. I want ALL the options.

Again, 100% arcade and 100% NOT GT. The Power Pack is an amazing arcade game. Don't tell me it's Gran Turismo because it's not.

I haven't gotten to the enduros yet. I expect to be as disappointed with them as I am with the rest of the Power Pack and it's 100% going to be because I can't use my own garage cars in them. Sell me the PP as a new game for 30 USD and I'm singing your praises. Sell me the Power Pack as a GT DLC for 30 and I'm pissed off.

Using your logic, the radar, rain gauge and track layout UI elements are completely useless too. Just because you don't want to use something doesn't make it useless.

I am having problems coming in 1st 2nd or 3rd, how do I get the supra prize car?
I've been having problems getting podium aswell to be honest, I've only won a single race and came in 3rd in another. Anyway, you don't need to finish in those positions to unlock the Supra nor prizes. You need to complete the races that lead to the Supra GT500 Road Car and just have enough stars to unlock it.

Every prize in this dlc is unlocked through stars and along a career path you take. Also, you can just move around in the menu to look at the events and find the prizes. The Supra I got by starting the path with the Mazda 3 Gr.4, then doing a 2nd race with that, then finally a race on Trial Mountain where you actually can drive a modified version of the Supra if you want.

I am just wondering if there is an endurance at the blue (American) tree. Maybe daytona?
That would be too many events - they said there is only 50.

After doing a bit more, I have to question if some of these races are actually winnable in the "chilli" cars.

I've given the Desert Beetle races a few goes in the United States branch now and that 2-chilli car is horrendously low on power.

The rally round at Sardegna Windmills had me struggling like hell to stay with the top half in the 2-chilli car after losing several positions at the start, then I swapped to the "normal" car and absolutely destroyed it.

In my last attempt on Big Willow I started P2 and was very nearly P5 by turn 1 because it's so slow off the standing start. Actually overtaking and holding the position after that seems nigh impossible when the 2-chilli car is so anemic on the straights, and there's only 3 laps to make back everything you lose at the start.

If anyone has managed to win the Alsace race in the Abarth 595, fair ****s to ya. I qualified 2nd and finished 2nd, 2.6s behind the leading 205 GTI and with a fair old sweat broken to achieve that.

As for rallies, I'm not looking forward to those.

Same difference....

Let's say they went with your proposal,
Someone here will just be asking
why a new game, why not just make it an extension of GT7, why separate it... It's too short to be a game on its own and it's too expensive at $30 for what it is, especially a standalone the game.

That's why it is a DLC, you can think of it as you want.
In previous GT, there was an Arcade section.
I would say this very much belong to GT.

Here is what I gather GT8 should be:

A - licenses, missions and menus (cafe section?)
B - arcade (pick up and play) with local players (multiplayer) and music rally (just mindless fun)
C - car collecting, history and appreciation (cafe)
D - single player mode and career mode (sim based model)
E - live sanctioned racing against the community (GT Sport)
F - free roam open world with side quests like Forza Horizon and everything else... ( Based on arcade models)
G - community and social interaction (liveries, share photos and videos)
H - customs races, lobbies and map/track creations (that can be accessible for B, F and G
I - photography (scapes), technically this should be in C.

All that can coexist in one single game....

The PP is really good. Very fun and the best GT career mode since GT5. (I know it isnt really a career mode, just a extension to it) However, i think a few changes could be made; Add a safety car that gathers the grid after a accident, longer races, and a few very obvious things, like being able to save endurance races just like you save the normal cafe championships.

I don't understand how people keep looking past the 30th anniversary.

December 23 2027

"Mid cycle PS6" will be...when? ten years from now? Because we are mid cycle PS5 now. So, your estimate is December 2035?
I think GT8 is coming this decade but likely after PS6 launches. DF recently reported on the most credible PS6 leak (Moore's Law, with many instances of accurate leaks in the past) and the leaker is saying 2027 or 2028 for PS6. DF seemed to think 2028 or 2029 but admit they have no insider info like Moore's Law.

Spent a lot of time now on the top-right 'Japan' tree, great fun, but it's weird how the Civic races at the start seem the most difficult of the lot, especially the Suzuka one. Maybe it's me and Suzuka (never particularly liked or disliked it) but that one race seems more challenging than any other on the tree (haven't done the final proper enduro yet ofc).
Another odd thing about the Suzuka race; it sometines rains heavily, track v wet, rain meter well above lower bar, but the track never gets slippy, you can just drive on with normal grip. V odd I think. First time it happened I pitted, found no inters/wets available, so left, 25 secs behind field, wasted race.

Also, re all races, you've all probably already noticed there's no point in sweating to get pole, cos you're gonna get swamped by first corner anyway, so anywhere near the front will do. These AI cars pull away from the line like Kokubun's Amemiya springing out of the final hairpin in the Tokyo wet 12-lapper grind race; untouchable...

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed by Sophy 3.0's pace? I've only done maybe 7-8 races but every one has been a blowout. Like, I'll skip practice, do one quali lap, and be 1.000" faster than Q2. Then, in the race I just walk away typically winning by 5-10 seconds.

I just did the N24 Gr3 race, spun on my quali lap and was still 10 seconds faster than Q2. Won the race by almost a minute where only P2 was within said minute; P3 was 1:08 back.

I have my settings to the hardest difficulty; I've also used the slower cars with the same results. Almost a moot point because the AI uses the same car regardless of which I pick and it's still way back.

I thought 3.0 was supposed to be pretty quick where qualifying in 5th and finishing a race in 3rd would be considered a good result. I am just not seeing it.
Bro I’m A+ driver and if I’m not in the fastest car I’m qualifying 4/5.. and finishing the race in 3/4. I was seriously upset. If I’m in the fastest car I can win with a 2 or 3 second gap. I can see the Ai also battle behind and in front of me for position. Again it’s not perfect but for a person who doesn’t care for offline racing it was really fun!

The Willow one is winnable, but not really that fun. You need to cover off the inside immediately off the line to minimise the places lost, and then just have to take advantage of the last corner, you can basically take it flat with that little power. If you're close enough to them you can just pip it over the line.

I find the balance in general is all over the place and even when it feels closer, it's mostly artificial.
There's a few where the racing is good but it's 90% only hard because you have no power, and I don't think that makes for fun racing. I don't even think that is 'racing' to be honest. I'm certainly not racing the AI, I'm just overtaking them where they suck in the corners and then getting blown by on the straights. Not that much different to the regular game.

I personally don't think it's that good of a DLC/experience when most events are like that. I really like the cars though so that's a nice bonus (well, it was the selling point for me. I love that Supra). Some events (The Tsukuba AE86 one is my current favourite) are a ton of fun and don't feel stupidly balanced, but they're really few and far between and most of them are either very easy wins or very obvious handicaps.

Hmmm, I just did a couple more races to test. All my quali times are an out lap, and a quali lap; then I go to the pits and FFW to the end.

First was the American cars at Road Atlanta. I did 10 mins of practice to see if Sophy needed it to learn my abilities (I am not doing 60 mins per event, forget that noise). Spoiler alert: No. Didn't do anything.

My time: 1:20.838
Q2: 1:22.083

~1.25 seconds different.

Onto the race...

My time: 8:23.887 (purple lap 20.565)
P2: +7.646

Over 7.5 seconds back on a six lap race. :boggled:

Next race, American cars at Deep Forest. No practice. Note, I picked the C5 Vette whcih is the middle option.

My time: 1:56.699
Q2: 1:58.370

~1.7 seconds back

My race time: 15:37.983 (purple lap 1:55.772)
P2: +19.473

Almost 20 seconds on an eight lap race all whilst I am using the middle car.:boggled::boggled:

Maybe some of y'all can compare times... not to me but the AI.

On a side note I'll say all of these tuner cars have been really fun to drive. PD did a good job with the tunes/combos.

Sophy does not train on live player data.
I don't think that's what people are saying. They're saying it looks at your quali time, and then applies an adjustment (rubberbanding) to Sophy like it did in Custom Races. I think it could be a combination of both Quali and what is happening in the race.

So you are saying,if you do a slow qualy, then starting on the back, you power through and fool Sophy?

I think your qualifying time matters to how competitive Sophy is. If you fast forward and skip qualifying you can blast through the field like its the OG AI.

I don't think Sophy is that smart. I qualified 7th in the Camaro at Laguna, and that's where I finished, with the leader's best lap 2 seconds faster than me. Go to Eiger, get the pole, and checked out from the field immediately.
