Same difference....

Let's say they went with your proposal,

That's why it is a DLC, you can think of it as you want.
In previous GT, there was an Arcade section.
I would say this very much belong to GT.

Here is what I gather GT8 should be:

A - licenses, missions and menus (cafe section?)
B - arcade (pick up and play) with local players (multiplayer) and music rally (just mindless fun)
C - car collecting, history and appreciation (cafe)
D - single player mode - career mode
E - live sanctioned racing against the community (GT Sport)
F - free roam open world with side quest like Forza Horizon everything else...
G - community and social interaction (livery, share photos and videos)
H - customs races and map/track creations (that can be accessible for B, F and G
I - photography (scapes), technically this should be in C.

All that can coexist in one single game....
After another hour or two here's my final take: Power Pack should 100% be the core of the base game. It's perfect for introducing new players to the GT franchise.

Limited cars, no options to adjust or tweak things other than Traction Control and Brake Balance, lots of practice time, qualifying, no resets.
Add on to that the mix of racing, challenges/skill tests, credits, tickets, and prize cars and you've got the best Base GT Game ever made.

THEN you expand on that with GT as we have come to know and love it. Tweaks, setup changes, tire options, enter your own car into races, all that kind of thing.

Sport is functionally irrelevant to me, I have online racing it's all garbage all of the time. Photos/livery editors/paints/etc are all nice to have but I could care less if they exist.

To use your list AND rank them:

A - licenses, missions and menus (cafe section?)
B - arcade (pick up and play) with local players (multiplayer) and music rally (just mindless fun)
C - single player mode - career mode
D - customs races and map/track creations (that can be accessible for B, C, H)
E - car collecting, history and appreciation (cafe)
F - community and social interaction (livery, share photos and videos) / G - photography (scapes), technically this should be in C. Agreed this is why it's on the same line for me.
H - live sanctioned racing against the community (GT Sport)
I - free roam open world with side quest like Forza Horizon everything else...

I'm not saying this is what everyone wants, it's just my wishlist order.

My final thought is that the Power Pack is great as a core to start with. It's very bad as "End Game Content" and DLC this late in a games lifecycle should be "End Game Content". Power Pack is "Start of Game Content" and that's my biggest gripe about it.

To use your scheme, my (very personal) take on it:

A-single player mode, career, marketplace(used and new)
B-custom races, both technical and visual tuning(livery creator)
C-licences,missions and menus
D-arcade(with basic arcade function available from point A),multiplayer, sport
E-your E, F, H
I-everything else
Collecting starts with the very first car in your garage...

I spent around an hour with the Power Pack last night and something caught my ear.

The narrator (I can't remember her name) states that you should "pay attention to tire temperature" during your outlap. That gives me hope that PD will implement a tire temp UI element in the future. Now... I realize "the future" could be 4 years from now when it comes to PD but I remain hopeful that it'll be sooner. It'd be great to truly know that your tires are up to the proper temperature in this mode.

I remain disappointed but not surprised that VR users are being ignored...

Aside from the above, I LOVE the new updates.
I know you can remove the emojis from above the sophy cars, can you disable the narrator?

I think the narrator actually says that. I was told something like.. "your pace during practice (might have been qualifying) matches you with other drivers.."

i hope they keep updating the Power Pack, adding more lines and unique cars. 30USD is not a little money, you know. However, I dislike the idea of duplicate events with the same car selection. they should change the selection at least.

People still complaining about the price of the Power Pack really just have no understanding of the wider marketplace for DLC. $30 USD is basically the going rate for big expansions. Pokemon charges $30 for their expansion. Assassin's Creed's expansion was $24.99 this year. CDPR expansions were in the $30 range for both the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk.

And that's just the wider gaming industry. Sim Racing in specific is all over the place. If you were to buy every ACC DLC at launch I think you'd be approaching $100. iRacing for every car and track would be in the thousands of dollars.

Whether or not that's a good thing for consumers for the industry to have gone this way is another discussion. Whether or not you want to spend that money is up to you. But $30 for the amount of potential content in this DLC pack isn't an unreasonable ask given the state of game pricing.

it's half the cost of an AAA game and it is NOT half an AAA game. That's the gripe with price. charge 20 and it's great.

There's been a years long debate that games should cost more than $70 because of AAA development costs are skyrocketing. More recently, there is a ton of discussion around Grand Theft Auto VI being an $80+ dollar game and how that could impact the gaming market.

That being said, PD might be ahead or behind the curve depending on your perspective. Costs are rising across the board... Personally, I think it's a fair price.

I don't there are too many forms of content that provides hundreds of hours of dynamic entertainment from for $70. They've also delivered years worth of free content... I'll get another few hundred hours of enjoyment out of this game before the next iteration releases... That's worth $30 to me. And the best part of it all, it's a choice. Nobody has to buy it.

For the amount of time I've spent on GT7 and the amount of time I'll spend on the power pack, you have to be pretty skint to not have £25. Its cost per hour is peanuts given a coffee is nearly £5 and a pint of beer is probably £6-7. I used to be able to find £40 for Megadrive games when I was teenager and that's about £90-100 in today's money if you account for inflation.

Sophy is good, but it depends on the circuit, in others depends what car you chose.

Overall the DLC is good, we need this progression, AI and structure in GT8.
I've read and think I agree with (based on my limited time with the DLC) the notion that corner cutting is part of the reason for this. Sophy is taking more traditional lines, where as I'm taking lines that I've used to survive in Sport mode.

I think if future iterations of Sophy are given the freedom to skirt the rules a bit, that might make up for some of the time loss in my experience. That being said... Sophy 3.0 is a huge improvement and I'm content with it.

These new races are cool, but the fact that they felt the need to include $5 million credits with the DLC, kinda shows how much they were really struggling to figure out a way to sell this thing for $30. This really could have been a free update. But I was happy to support GT7 and so I bought the DLC. Nice to have some new single player content, I have been away from GT7 for awhile.

Ok,so I have downloaded spec 3 abd bought the PP dlc.Im not able to play until tomorrow so im following this thrrad closely. One more question regarding qualifying,is it compulsory and is it on every race?

Yes it is compulsory. However you don’t need to set a time - you just can’t skip the session like you can practice (although you can fast forward).

So you are saying,if you do a slow qualy, then starting on the back, you power through and fool Sophy?
That’s not what I’m saying - I’m saying the time you set in qualifying and your pace in the race has an effect on the performance of Sophy, just like it did in the custom races with 2.0

Have you seen the size of the Power Pack update?

It's a ridiculous 394 kB.

That means everyone already has the content installed, but thanks to Sony/PD's greed, they can't access it.

Why does this bother me?

I have to give up my limited storage space just because they're too incompetent to create a decent DLC. 😡

This only applies to PS5 owners and also explains the size difference of the update between PS5 and PS4.

To all those using the poop emoji. 😁

I have just as little to give away in such cases as Sony/PD.

But that's just my humble opinion.

Part way thru day 2....did the American line, had a great race with Bonelli at Watkins, passed each other a few times, and on lap 17 he tried to pass me again and somehow he got in the wall,i came to a full stop but was still on track,so i took off,had him by 5 seconds,he was charging hard but i won by 1.5 seconds....that's what he gets for taking victory away from me at road Atlanta on the final chicane...

This is a very valid point.

But wouldn't it be great if afterwards you get thrown into the cafe/missions/World Circuit events with a similar level of challenge, plus a free choice of vehicles?

That's the dream, i guess.

Hello everyone, is it normal that in the new powerpack race's the clutch didn't work ? I have 3 pedals. And did someone figure out if it's possible to disable the voice that tells you the laptimes? It's annoying, I'm using the race engineer app already

You can't compared this DLC which is mostly just some new races being added using mostly content already in the game with...

A Cyberpunk DLC that adds in new guns, quests, characters etc. Also a whole new area of the map. And the likeness and voice acting of a Hollywood A lister.

The Lewis Hamilton DLC for GT Sport was £6.50 in 2019. Something around £10-£15 would've been more realistic for what's being offered.

Sounds like you need to recalibrate your wheel setup again with the new 1.65 update...

I noticed the clutch didn’t work when I used the 22’ civic at Dragon Trail Gardens. I’m pretty sure I missed gears in the other races with the older cars, but I can’t remember for sure. My hunch is that some of the cars have got sequential transmission upgrades which render the clutch useless in game before this update. Sure wish we could see some of the tuning they’ve done to these cars

Never thought about there being a sequential transmission.... sorry
