We can debate the base AI, but it is almost a certainty that it will be dropped in favour of Sophy in the next iteration of the game. So, why add the feature? People already don't fully use the compliment of tracks that come with the game, and there's still a few legacy tracks I'd rather see brought back before custom tracks.

And the idea that others will want them in a "custom championship", well, they'd have to add a custom championship feature first. There's been no change in the championships since launch. I'd like a custom championship, sure, but I'd like to see Sophy (or the base AI) actually race itself a bit first, so that it feel like I am truly in a championship. As it stands, the championships are collection of track days, not races. So, there's a bunch a features to work on before custom tracks make any sense.
Regular AI should be kept because it enables a feature that allows for lots of replayability. Just because it’s not strictly necessary doesn’t mean it should always be cut in my opinion.

I don’t think you need custom championships before custom tracks. It’s nice, sure, but you can always introduce custom tracks first. Especially since they don’t have custom championships for tracks already in the game.

Custom tracks alone would be enjoyed without custom championships, though if I’d like to see them also added.

What I would love to see is more camera customization options, and more FFB options for wheel players. Maybe even some UI customization as well.

These would make me very happy indeed!
The option to have the camera not tilt when on a banked corner or when the suspension wobbles would also be welcome!

It has to be kept in game as there are many of us (including me) that do not have a PS5 to have Sophy play....

I think @Voodoovaj is talking about GT8 which will likely be PS5 only and probably use Sophy throughout the game.
Still i would prefer the option of SOPHY or NON-SOPHY, as I have small dexterity issues and having tried going against SOPHY on a friend's ps5 I didn't do well...but this is my personal request if it comes to be in future GT8 and I will have to buy ps5 then I will make my best against the SOPHY.
Possible that in GT8 that SOPHY will be adjustable like the difficulty, like easy 1.🌶. normal 2.🌶🌶. hard 3.🌶🌶🌶

P.S. I will be posting a few TT on Le Mans w/out chicanes soon...

I think they'll definitely have difficulty options, I think Sophy as is, would be too fast for a lot of people. I'm a decent driver and unless it's a good car/track combo for me, I slip back.

Awesome, good luck with the laps!

Y'know, I also sort of realized that these two tracks that are coming make perfect sense with PD/GT's "global" sort of philosophy, as they're in areas that haven't had much representation in GT otherwise. Heck, I think that I was onto something when I was imagining some time ago that the Dubai Autodrome would come to the franchise, since Yas Marina is also in the UAE. Hopefully we can still hope for stuff like the return of HPA Motorsports so that we can have a Canadian brand, and Seat/Cupra as a brand from the Iberian peninsula. Or maybe we could even have Hispano-Suiza show up, haha!

Ya, it's unlikely that they will keep the option to change the AI (for several budgetary reasons) but you never know. You can make Sophy slower easy enough, or as has been the case since GT1, you just make your car faster. That's been the point of the tuning for nearly 30 years now. People avoid tuning to give themselves an extra challenge.
Regular AI should be kept because it enables a feature that allows for lots of replayability.
I'm not sure what you're referring to. If we're talking GT8, I don't know what the base AI can do that Sophy cannot do. If we're talking about the base AI on custom tracks, like I said, it was so long ago that the feature will need a lot of rework.

Personally, I'd rather see B spec before custom tracks, but again, there's no point in doing it for the base AI if it's getting dumped in the next game.

I agree that the regular AI isn't needed, unless they're doing a course maker. But if they have the capacity to make a course maker, in my opinion, they shouldn't forgo it because it would use the regular AI.

And from a feature perspective, this is my opinion so of course not representative of everyone, but I do think a course maker would be appreciated, and for offline players and lobby players, worth the effort.

I might be biased but I think a course maker is big in terms of a feature because of the replayability it offers, and I think it'd be worth getting the regular AI working with custom tracks.

To go for another feature over the course maker, if it's feasible to create, in my opinion, it would have to be big and supersede the impact that the course maker has on the game.

Wouldn’t it be easier to use regular A.I. for a course maker? From what I can remember, doesn’t the computer run calculations around a simulated race course each time we adjust a car’s settings? Would make sense to just use regular A.I. than SOPHY.

Anyway, it’s going to be interesting how big the December update file will be. Wonder if PS4 players will be able to download it before the next GT game comes out. Just kidding y’all. It’s all love. :sly:;)

I heard the same arguments made about GT6 being a PS4 game. It wasn't
The PS3 is a significantly different situation to modern crossgen discussion, to be fair.

Both because of how much the Cell made porting to/from the PS3 specifically much more difficult that modern x86 ports, and because AAA platform holders have realised that dropping your 100 million last-gen audience isn't worth the squeeze exclusives bring to early next-gen.

It's best not to think about generations anymore like we used to. The current generation also marks the end of that era.

AKA everything will be cross gen going forward - that said, the term "cross gen" will go away.

It's about platforms not generations.

XBOX is being very explicit about it. "This is an XBOX" means everything is an XBOX. As long as you own any XBOX you can play whatever you want.

GT8 will be coming to Playstation.

I have two options that i would like to see in next update:

* In used car market would be great to add cars with some upgrades or and some cars full tuned as well!!!

* Let us the option to change transmission in cars with automatic gearbox. like Nissan Qashqai that is a total crap in this configuration....

Not sure if it fits in the guidelines here as I couldn't find any relevant threads but if it doesn't feel free to direct me to the correct source.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it will have any relevance here but what is the likely chance they might add the BMW V12 LMR '99 in this update. I'm expecting very low chances but keep in mind it's been teased in game at the GT Cafe so I'm not sure what is everyone's take on it?

I'd give it a high chance. What's the biggest sponsor on that car? Dell or PETRONAS?

The car could be added without those two sponsors.

Is there something up with either of those that I have not heard about? There wasn't issues with them before and this is car that seems to frequently appear alongside the BMW Motorsport F1 GTR and a BMW GT car in a game so I can't see them being an issue now.

I’m saying there should be nothing short of sponsorship that would negate the car being added. I have absolutely no clue if sponsorship on one car means another would be fine with the same sponsor sticker. The cars being owned by the same entity.
