I couldnt care less about the Afeela.
I accept the arrival of the Avantime for historical reasons (the times when Renault tried to be Citroen and failled with complete success!) but is one of the ugliest cars of the 2000s era just some steps below of the world champion in that matter, the Aztek.

What Im really excited for are the Vettes.
Im eager to drive them on VR and I hope the next TT will feature one of this prototypes

The cars are okay except for the Afeela but since it is so hated so it will probably be in the weekly challenge at Eiger reverse in a one make race.j/k I hope there are some good engine swaps and the 900 pp race at Spa will have a good payout

I do have to say these update threads make me laugh, any negativity is met with dismissiveness even when it’s pragmatic and real. It’s not pissing on anyone’s parade, I like cars other people don’t and vice versa.

What I struggle with is unchecked questioning and balancing isn’t a bad thing, it’s what makes the system work for everyone.

It’s only on these sort of threads do I see the 💩 emoji, and that’s fine it’s not a popularity contest but also it’s not a positivity love in either.

From my perspective the cars are all becoming samey through the current physics, as show in GR4 at the moment and the recent TTs.

The single player default AI isn’t getting much love either and the cars are getting a bit meh, FOR ME PERSONALLY!!! I’d prefer that they rounded out more real world cars with real world races, not 2040 vision cars with no real races and we’ll mostly impossible physics at the moment.

But I’ll go back to my original point, how many laps do you think they drove the Avantine or either of the vettes at any or multiple circuits to get the data for its performance and handling?

To my knowledge, almost none of GT's cars are driven by anyone at Polyphony Digital in any environment at any time before they appear in the game.

I don't believe it's an exceptional case either; a significant number of cars that appear in racing games are simply too valuable or too fragile to let any bunch of game nerds near them - or preserved in museum conditions and not possible to be driven by anyone. Or concept cars that couldn't ever drive anywhere.

Some studios do employ driving/racing specialists, but even then they won't be a particularly large complement of them and each will have experience of only a handful of the cars - especially racing cars. At best you can expect they will consult with drivers who have driven the real thing over how the game model behaves.

3. New World Circuits events join the list.

The following events will be added to World Circuits.

European Sunday Cup 400
Circuit de Sainte-Croix - B Reverse

Japanese 4WD Challenge 600
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

World Touring Car 900
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
This WTC 900 on Spa better payout 1.5 million without clean race bonus or else I'm not interested, level 50s like many of us are all pretty much looking for bottom of the barrel fun and new high paying event for a long while now.
The current 60-minute ones took too long and I'm getting tired of grinding on Le Mans 30-minute 700 PP race.

Kaz has probably driven a few for fun I’d imagine which is fair play to him.

I mostly agree with your perspective. There hasn't been a lot for me personally in the 2025 updates - it's not really the car choice, in that to me it's hard to get too annoyed about what car number 540 of any car roster is, but it's more the lack of basically any other support beyond 3 cars + 3 events + a Scape + (normally) a Sophy track.

But I'm mostly sanguine about it because so much to me points towards it being the tail end of support for a 3.5 year old game (that isn't a platform), in which case, fine, sure, throw me a few concepts, why not. GT Sport at this point in its life was deep into solo car update territory. If in 8 months time we've had 5-6 more of these barebones updates and no news about the future, I think that's when I'll personally start to think something's going wrong as opposed to just winding down.

Sad. Hopefully at least one of the new racing games coming out soon will be good and offer us some new tracks, a proper career mode, different race cars, and just be fresh. With MOD support in Project Motorsport that should keep a nice supply of cars and tracks flowing. Looking forward to it. Hopefully GT will get their act together soon.

If if is approaching end-of-life for GT7 the timing works well. There’s a load of racing games of all types coming to PS5 (Rennsport, Nascar, Project Motor Racing this year; hopefully iRacing Arcade, Formula Legends, Indycar, AC Evo, Le Mans Ultimate & Wreckfest 2 before the end of 2026). People should be able to find something there to keep themselves interested & entertained until GT8.

Another point:

Knowing how PD operates, I wouldn't be surprised if the special event for next weekly challenge is the avantime on alsace or (even better) Lemans and the next time trial is the corvette CX.R on Daytona or Laguna Seca lol

Why do people care about this so much?
The same reason people don’t like other people’s rational opinion is my guess.

It would add a bit of realism but 99% players haven’t even been on a track (go karts excepted, and even then they were probably push an go ones) let alone stand trackside at Suzuka….people are weird.

Again a dull update. Just content to fill and that's it.

A new circuit? Maybe never again for GT7. It looks like PD is saving all the important content for the next chapter, this is good and bad at the same time.

Saving all the important content at the end of the gams lifecycle, when most of the players have long since left*

Yippie lmao

i had been watching the reaction among the western and the japanese base of GT7 is night and day
everyone in the japanese posts were celebraitng the new renaut and the corvettes, their only complain was the lack of a new ttrack and the fact sony was using the game to promote their new car

out of it, it was overall good talks about the game, even the renaut one was celebrated, far different reception to the updaate

Voices of reason.

Yes still no new tracks, I wonder if they are being held back for GT8, what will GT8 look like from a daily race perspective, hopefully the same but with updated gr3/4

Tracks from WTCC, Aussie V8s, BTCC, IMSA, just a few from each would be nice

Do you have a link for this japanese community pls?

I'd hope it would be a lot more comprehensive than that!

500+ cars in this game and all you ever see in dailies is the same 5-10, depending on what's the meta that week. It seems so far away now, but there was a time closer to GT7's launch where you'd be able to see grids like these in dailies.

But that’s not really class based racing?

I mean I get the Volvo 850 touring car in the BTCC, I get the Holden pick up versions in the Aussie V8 Super Cup, I even enjoy the multi class racing in other titles.

What I don’t understand is in a simple ranked race why that deviation in the screenshot makes any sense. As a daily A maybe?, as a lobby definitely but in a ranked class based race where bop is supposed to work and you are racing similar stuff where ability is the factor I don’t get it?

You called me a modern fan boy (paraphrased) but didn’t respond to any of my salient points.

Is a little off-topic, but the other day, riding a japanese in "X" learn that the japanese wiki of the game has a list of the most desired cars, where you can nominate yours and vote (it resets every year to lighten the page's footprint).

Currently, the list has 745 cars, and I found the most voted ones interesting.

Because the onus is on the player to build a car that can compete with the fastest on the leaderboard. Just like classic GT, you're given the freedom to work out a problem, instead of just being handed the answer for free through BoP. Of course there will be some outstandingly OP cars - but the onus is then on PD to figure out why those cars are broken and revamp their PP ratings.

And what exactly were your salient points? That the Avantime and Alphard are identical cars because they share a similar shape?
