Well, in my opinion, the game should be in the 23 GB range. I might be saying a lot a wrong things since I'm not a technical expert but I'd say they're using a standard single-layer Blu-Ray since the top-side of the disk will have all the usual decoration and therefor be unreadable. Also KY has also mentioned that they nearly used all the available space.

Dual Layer mean that the other layer is on top of the previous layer. its still all on one side, and looks just like a normal disc

God i hate that, i hope GT5 doesn't allow the same level of customisation for the livery editor. They need to limit the number of layers on the car to say 50 or something, i don't wanna see cartoon characters sprayed over cars in GT5.

There are incredible liverys in FM3 that users made. If people like cartoons on their cars, so let them do it... whats the problem?

Okay, so there's a few of them that stand out. And while Kaz might say things that turn out to be incorrect, I don't think he's lying on this one. GT5's graphics make Forza's look like a cartoon (though in Forza's defence, most of the screenshots I see are custom liveries with cartoon themes), so I'd say that GT5 is pushing the Playstation to its limits.

Don't count on it. We all assumed the very same thing a few years back with Killzone 2 and GT5P, but now look where we're standing now, Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 and the upcoming Killzone 3 and yours truly GT5 make almost every game except for the PC's precious Crysis look like a joke

GT5 will be so big it will use Jiggabytes! Ok, probably not so I'm guessing 50GB.

Hmmmm...about this big

Its amazing to me that people care about how big videogames are. Apparently whatever size it is, its not big enough if only 20% of the cars in the game are done.

Speak for yourself mate...oh hang on, are we still talking about GT5 ;)

Sorry for including my personal frame of reference into the equation......still talking about GT5 ofcourse ( what else? ).;)

Which would be funny if not for the real possibility that actually might be true.

Realistically its irrellavant how big it is because at least 10 gb will be installed on your ps3, presuming that would be compressed on the disc it could be a number of sizes

Somewhere between stupidly big and retardly big.

But in Kaz's case, he usually means it. Hideo Kojima is probably the only other person who comes close, though GT5 blows MGS4 out of the water.

If HK was doing GT5 then we'd have the race pausing for lengthy radio conversations with the race engineer telling you about all the features he's added to your car and don't get me started with the cut scenes there'd be for pitstops or just any other random time.

Close to 50GB fully installed ! dunno really more like 25 , 30 GB

GT5 is huge!!!! But i just checked.... and Yo Mama is much bigger :)

Interesting topic.

PD should delay release and run a focus group to determine what the optimal size of the game should be. Take that data and then run a poll on the PD GT5 site. After that is said and done, they should take that data and then pine over it for 6 months. Once that is finished, they should spend an additional 3 months trying to shave 500mb off the final game size. If the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter's 7th moon are in alignment, PD should delay release again and add an additional Honda Civic to the game from 1995 that nobody really cares about driving.

Only then will the game be ready for another delay.

I guess...63.569.935.914.098.610.753.038,99GB
or... exacly 50GB(1 Blu-Ray Disc)

What ever size it ends up as, I hope that there's an option to install it ALL onto the PS3's Hard Disc, I'd also like to have a way of registering an activation code which only works for my PS3 login which would allow me not to have to have the disc in the Blue Ray to run the game (bit like if you buy s/w from the psn store).

I hate switching discs to play games it's so 90's!!

Agree with you. Games work faster and load much faster when they are on HDD.
And yes it's soo 90's...

Maybe when consoles have 2TB HDD's we will have digital only games...

But for now I reckon GT5 is about 35GB's. Dno why, just a guess.

There is a 400gb Blu-Ray Disc which was reveled by Pioneer

http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/pioneer-unveils-400gb-blu-ray-disc-416837

and now news on a 500gb Blu-Ray Disc

http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/press/news/500GB_Bluray.html

and to top things off Sony have managed to put 1TB on one layer

"1TB on one layer

Sony researchers, in conjunction with researchers at Tohoku University in Japan, have made a blue violet laser which is capable of creating 1000GB discs. Current single-layer Blu-ray discs can store 25GB of data, with dual layer discs able to store 50GB of data. TDK and Sharp have recently announced 100GB BDXL discs, but even this is achieved by multiplying the disc layers to four."

http://www.mobile-computing-news.co.uk/industry-news/6022/sony-develop-1tb-blu-ray-disc-burner.html

So 50gb for GT5 with rumors with "problems doing the final stage of production"?

Are you sure now that it is on a standard 25Gb or a 50Gb Dual Layer BD disc?
