Gran Turismo 6 Online Maintenance Scheduled for June 1st

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps_1

Polyphony Digital has announced online service maintenance for Gran Turismo 6 on Monday, June 1, at 04:00 GMT/UTC (click here to convert this to your local time) and will last approximately two hours. As always, you’ll be unable to use the game’s online features during the maintenance period.

Although a maintenance notice certainly does not guarantee a game update will be made available, it has been confirmed by GT Academy’s managing director Laurence Wiltshire that the Nissan GT-R LM will be coming to the game on the following day, June 2, for the final round of the 2015 GTAcademy online qualifier. Stay tuned!

Looks like the SRT Vision GT car might be included in the update. SRT just teased the car on Twitter.

  2. Blood*Specter

I have truly loved GT over the years. I played GT1 to GT6. The impact of the first game is still with me 15 years later. It just confirmed the fact that I truly love cars. And love driving them as fast a I dare. I have no hate for project cars.

I have never played Forza, I do not like drifting or Pikes Peak hill climbs. I am curious enough to try them if available. What I do like is racing cars. And I love being able to take a commercial high performance car out of a track or a deserted road. I also like doing those things with my on-line friends. Cursing around the ring and having conversations is some of the best fun I have with GT6.

Up until now, Grand Turismo was the king. It enabled you to grab a car that you earned, and take it to the track of your choice and have a ball. But we should never forget that playing GT is living Kaz’s dream. And his dream was to create an encyclopedia of cars.
I still have the article where he said it. It’s the reason there is no damage model in GT.
The dude never wanted to see is beauties destroyed.

The truth is, GT was designed for car lovers, by a car lover. Project Cars was designed by car lovers who love the thrill of racing automobiles. Don’t get it twisted, PCars is a full on sim and it makes no apologies for being that. Is it better than GT? In places yes, head and shoulders better. In other areas GT betters PCars. And what else did anyone expect?

One thing is for sure, GT billing it’s self as a “Simulator” is joke material. And that was as of I-Racing being released. If GT had the level of adjustment that PCars had, well it wouldn’t be Grand Turismo….now would it? It’s about compromises. And Kaz/PD and maybe even Sony came up with what GT is now. Who thinks Kaz and PD are ready to change?

The question is will Kaz the “Race Car” driver allow that part of his personality into GT7?
Because if PD plans on continuing marketing GT as a simulator, they had better make sure it really is one. Because it is not even close to a simulation. Not by Project Cars standards.

Kaz knows what driving a racing car feels like. He know what it sounds like. That part of him IS NOT in Grand Turismo. Hiring a sound engineer is just the tip of the ice burg.
Kaz needs to bring some genuine race car drivers in the house for a reference.

I suspect if PD develops a game with the level of mechanical adjustment that PCars has into Grand Turismo and maintains and fine tunes it’s current social offerings GT will again be king.
Because, the car graphics in GT6 are slightly better than PCars. But PCars has GT soundly beaten in the track realism, sound, emersion and weather aspect hands down.
And lets not leave out level of realism created by the level of adjustment available.
When you make a change to your suspension in PCars, you feel it on the track.
And it makes sense it does what it’s supposed to do. If you raise the front of the car, you get under steer and vice-a-versa. GT by comparison is laughable in that area.

And there is lies the rub. GT will develop to it’s demographics. Sony will play the metrics.
The next GT game will again cater to who spends the money. So ask yourself, are you a casual driver/racer/player or do you need more realism to entice you into playing the game?

There is no question that PD and Kaz can rival what’s contained in PCars and merge it into their framework. They can make a driving/racing/collecting/social game for the ages.
The question is WILL THEY? PCars still has bugs to work out. Especially in the on-line mode. And both franchises need to work on how to save their followers from having to shell out $400.00 USD for ANOTHER racing wheel in place of Logitech.

I for one hope GT takes up the challenge. Because they are no longer the best looking babe at the party. The gauntlet has been thrown at Kaz and PD’s feet. IT’S ON………………..

    1. Tenacious D

Well, I played Assetto Corsa which arguably has better physics simulation than P CARS – which I have yet to experience myself – and GT6 felt pretty much like a sim to me. Your simmage may vary, but those who insist that GT6 isn’t even close… well, you aren’t close either.

    2. research

A lack of realism is not whats causing the spectacular freefall from grace for GT.

It is the utter lack of freedom. The contrast between the vast amount of stunning assets (cars/tracks) and the narrow, limited ways we can use them is unmeasurable.

This game makes me feel like I’m in a headlock while staring at Salma Hayek, who’s naked body is just out of reach. That no bueno.

    3. Tenacious D

I’m not sure what kind of freedom GT lacks in comparison to other racers. The only other one I can think of is Forza.

      – Livery Editor. Forza has, GT has not.
      – Race Mod. Forza has extensive body mods for most cars, GT’s options are more limited for the most part.
      – Online system. Forza 4 had a very good one that sounds like it was gimped in F5. GT’s is still rather primitive.

Outside of those, racing games allow you to race cars. Gran Turismo has always allowed you to race more cars than any other game. So if some other game lets you do more, have at it.

    4. Johnnypenso

Without challenging AI that can compete with you when driving similar cars with similar specs, there is no racing. Every other game is somehow able to do this except GT.

  3. davidfuryboy

Bahhh.. got enought of whining about this game if u dnt lie to urself like me sell it and turn the page am getting a ps4 perhaps project cars, will never pre order a gt game again will wait a least a year to be sure gt7 is worth ur money..

    1. ttfn

Project Cars ? Sorry but i’ve already bought it and some idiot said it’s better than GT6, he’s talking out of his backside, because as good as it might be considering that GT6 is only on PS3, wait and see what Kaz does with GT7 on PS4 and then, ONLY THEN, buy project cars after playing GT7 on PS4 because trust me, its not all its cracked up to be

    2. Johnnypenso

      @TeamCZR, you win the internetz buddy…well done…lol.

@ttfn I respectfully disagree. PCars simulates racing, driving and tuning better than any game on console…ever. If that’s what you’re looking for the game can scratch your itch. If you’re looking to drive 1000 cars, paint, add parts, throw F1 qualifying tires on any car, then it’s not the game for you. Different strokes and all that jazz.

  4. Progress823

Not quite understanding how there is always a grand debate between GT6 and every other game/sim/whatever on the market when GT is not on current-gen hardware…..

Let’s enjoy what’s out there, whatever you are playing, and then make a fair comparison in 2017 when GT7 is released.

    1. infamousphil

Always begin with the assumption of intellegence and try to understand the context of what is said or written. That said…

Alot of what gets posted here is one sided… usually against GT because its been ‘the’ standard for sim racing (stylin and profilin too) for more than ten years. Yup, more than 15yrs. And alot of folks’ favorite. I don’t dig my GT being bad mouthed by former fans, or out done by a rival or new crew. I’ve spent so much time and money on GT… but there are times I just wanna smack Kaz upside the back of head too. Too emotional. Sorry Kaz I would rather shake you hand and thank you dearly for making my dream come true.

But there’s a certain ignorance in the world too.

    2. Progress823

Lol you’re right indeed Phil… Looking at some of these comments you can see the ignorance clearly.

I can totally relate to the love/hate relationship with Kaz and PD. Some days I can hug them, the next day I want to take them skydiving sans parachute.

  5. ArR29

I don’t understand why people keep saying negative about this game. This is my first GT on Ps3, I’m happy and satisfied with the game. This is one the most optimized game on Ps3 and you people should be happy about that.

    1. Toshost

Totaly agree, i play Gran Turismo from GT3 and i play it in all styles, so i don’t have any thing to complain about it is awesome game for me. Maybe only one. Course maker in GT6 :)

    2. ArR29

I mostly play sim racing on PC this is my first Gran Turismo on console. I just love this game diverse cars and great handling too. I really appreciate PD and their passion with cars this game is awesome for a Ps3 game. Just sad this site is awful because of spoiled brats that can’t stop whining about everything.

    3. Master Weasel

By now, there are more people in the comments complaining about the whiners than there are people who are actually whining. I think some of us might be overreacting here.

  6. missnbelle86

So they’re going to add the “front wheel drive” GT-R LM NISMO finally… It’s not FWD, as you will all find out when it’s put in game with the little “AWD” in the drivetrain spot. Sure, if you ignore the electric drive system it’s just got a gas motor powering the front wheels, but it has electric motors at the back. All the hype about the fake FWD Le Mans car since its debut irritated me.

    1. AbsoluteBarstool

Nissan Motorsport themselves have said that reliably running the KERS through the rear wheels is impossible this year, so it is a completely front-wheel-drive car for now.

  7. JohnyPiston

The need to keep bashing at things you do not like is a rather bizarre tendency. There are so many things I do not like in this world and many have forums dedicated to them …and news articles written about that. For some reason, I have NEVER felt the need to go on them and say “this sucks. That, which I love, is miles better”. I have never done it. Ever. If you ask why you are told “it is my democratic right”, “I am expressing my own opinion” and the ubiquitous “I was just sayin”. The thing is, by doing so, you draw a reaction from those who are fans on whatever forum you just decided to be a democrat on. And what is your response to that? “Why do fan boys get so hurt”?. I mean, is there nothing better to do with your time then to seek out what you do not like and comment on it? Why do you go through the effort to read the article/forums you do not like? Are you not, as a human being, supposed to avoid what you do not like?? Oh yeah I am sorry I forgot ..you have a need to express your democratic right to disagree even though no-one wants to hear it ….SMH …

    1. Master Weasel

So all discussion is supposed to be one big circle jerk, where no differing opinions are allowed?

    2. Johnnypenso

I thnik that only applies to the GT Forum. The Project Cars Forum isn’t exactly flowers and ponies at this point and i have yet to see a single post like the one above.

    3. Tenacious D

Mr Weasel, I’m sure you get it. You guys always fall back on “you just don’t want to hear anything negative about your precious.” Reminds me of JohnnyP’s reaction to some of my reactions to GRID A.

I’ve critiqued Gran Turismo myself, but I don’t use napalm to do it. Big difference, and I’m sure you know it.

  8. Lambob

Maintenance? it’s probably just Kaz and PD putting up their out of office notices in outlook as they head out to Computex 2015 along with every other Asian entrepreneur on this planet.

kidding aside, I really really hope for a GT7Prologue, so I can finally buy a PS4, and blend my PS3 together with Project Cars(it will become vaporware overnight) , as GT7 will be the next reigning supreme, bar none.

It would also be really sweet if Kaz can port GT6 to PS4 as we wait, though I wonder if the coding would be worth it at all, it’s an epic translation to go from proprietary Cell to AMD’s x86 platform.

    1. Lambob

my personal vote would be also for Kaz to just man up and announce his desire to suspend GT6 track creator, as he is focusing on a complete release of GT7 to include it, as well, before year end 2016 for crying out loud.

    2. Tenacious D

If the physics and graphics build for GT7 is complete, all the team would have to do is port the car and track models into it. Along with the Standard haters, I would prefer to see a face lift to both the cars and tracks, as well as a lot of goodies we’ll (hopefully) be seeing in GT7 itself, like damage, better A.I., Race Mod and a Livery Editor etc, but I guess we’ll see on that. GT6 would definitely be able to fulfill its potential on PS4. The tech of the PS3 is getting to be a decade old, and GT6 is suffering for it.

    3. Tenacious D

As for dropping the heavy lifting on GT6 (PS3), I’d be happier if PD would pour its effort and energy into getting GT7 up and for sale ASAP. As I remarked above, PS3 is really getting on in years, and its lack of resources is really hurting GT6’s potential. Anything Kaz releases on PS4 will be a HUGE improvement on whatever piddling accomplishments he could realize on this almost decade old console.

  9. 0r3n

2 paragraphs about an UPDATE (a good thing right?) Brings out all the haters and the negative speculation about how PD will fail yo deliver on GT7… (Schrowdinger’s cat… until it comes out it will be both awful and awesome).

    Couple of things:
    1. PD is a business. You are a consumer. Seriously the effect one consumer who has already purchased the game (and all previous ones) whining about how they won’t buy the next one is negligible at best. PD answers to its shareholders not you.
    2. If you believe you have been lied to. Refer to your countries’ consumer laws. … im pretty sure your losses related to the misrepresentation that GT6 would come with course creator ain’t worth much…. you knew at release it wasn’t there and would be coming in the future. .. you bought the game … PD is still is business and offering support. .. there is a new update coming soon ( maybe it will contain the course creator.. OK it pros wont)…there is nothing to suggest it won’t come … eventually.
    3. Kaz ain’t your friend. He doesn’t owe you squat. Learn some respect.
    4. Ultimate feature in GT7… in online racing whoever gets the fastest lap can nominate a driver and send them into “standard” view for a lap.

  10. TomBrady

I can’t believe the comments here. I love project Cars but you people are crazy to talk like it’s this world beater when really, on all platforms, it’s the most buggy mess of a game I’ve ever played.

Worst of all, its been out for weeks and still not a single patch or any word from the developer. It was crowd funded yet it doesn’t even have a fraction of a percent of the amount of post launch support or polish that GT6 has, yet all you clowns can do is complain about what it doesn’t have.

    1. Tenacious D

It’s stuff like this that has me hesitating to buy it. Been thinking about a $400 upgrade to an i7 and mobo, because my gaming rig doesn’t meet the minimum specs, save for the graphics card. And I’d much rather have a plug n play PS4, but both the Thrustmaster and Fanatec wheels are reportedly buggy themselves. On top of that, I’m just not enthused about getting a pure racing sim with its skimpy car list. Had my fling for a day in Assetto Corsa with its street cars, and that was about all I needed. So I race in GT6 instead, plenty satisfying. Till e3 anyhow. ;D

    2. Johnnypenso

GT6 is plenty satisfying in one post, but in other posts, “PS3 and its lack of resources is really hurting GT6’s potential”, and, “the tech of the PS3 is getting to be a decade old, and GT6 is suffering for it”. Seems quite like your opinion of the game changes relative to whatever post you are answering. If it’s an anti-PCars or other game post, then GT6 is plenty satisfying. If it’s in relation to the PS4, then it’s drop everything on the PS3 including work on the Course Maker and give me PS4 as soon as possible because the poor GT6 is suffering so much on the PS3.

    3. TeamCZRRacing

Johnny, maybe the gist of his posts is that he finds GT6 enjoyable despite being on decade-old hardware. Have you thought of that?

  11. ynot

If everyone is so into Project Cars and Forza then why are you still on a Gran Turismo site bashing it all the time. Go start your own sites that support those games. I know there are Threads here about them but that’s not how this site started. I have played many racing games out there and GT is just the best. You can not release a game and please millions of people. Better yet, make your own video game just the way you like it and you will have the best game ever. What was that you said? You dont know how too or have the millions of dollars to do it yourself. Then maybe just enjoy what you have and be thankful your not still playing Pole Position. Buy all the games and play the one you want when your in the mood for those features.

    1. Tenacious D

“If everyone is so into Project Cars and Forza then why are you still on a Gran Turismo site bashing it all the time.”

They can’t stand that there are humans on Earth who like the series? Who knows, but it is quite the endless parade of whinge.

    2. Mickeman

I can only speak for myself. I am wondering when I will get the complete game so I don’t have to look at placeholders in the carlist. Though I don’t think Forza 5 is a good comparison. Both the retail versions of GT6 and Forza 5 are incomplete games. The Forza one you have to pay to get the complete game, and the GT game have free updates that we are still waiting form. Yeah, GT is the best game out there, specially the damage model :)

    3. Johnnypenso

Because it’s not a Gran Turismo exclusive site is it? There are dedicated sections of this site to a large number of racing games and one of them happens to be Project Cars. Other games are showing up in the news items here on GTP on a more regular basis as well. Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, Forza etc.

    4. Tenacious D

Johnny, it begs the question why people are here who do nothing but put the game down, and deride any positive comments about it. I’m wondering what the last good thing about GT6 you’ve said. When you made a post about what you’d enjoy seeing in GT7. There’s a definite crowd of you guys who I don’t understand why you’re here. If you like Gran Turismo, it doesn’t show.

    5. ynot

I know Johnny that there are other threads about other games. I mentioned it in the original post but I am willing to bet gtplanet did not start out that way. It just added other threads to build a better website over the years and I want to thank all those that manage this site for doing so. I too want a finished game. I’m waiting everyday for news of the Course Creator, a feature I really enjoyed in GT5. Gran Turismo 5 and now 6 has allowed me to meet people from all over the world. We enjoyed the races together and looked fro each other when we got on the game which was most nights of the week. I eventually formed a club and some of us are still racing together 3 or 4 nights a week for the last 3 years. It’s not just about the racing, it’s also about the friendship, the conversations, and the company. Take a look at GT Academy and what that turned out to be. Ask any of the Finalists that went to Race Camp and the Winners if any other game could do for them what Gran Turismo has done. When they went to the store to buy Gran Turismo they had no idea what was going to happen to them. There is no other game of any genre that done anything like this that I am aware of. I like checking out other games but they will never be what Gran Turismo is to me. They are all just another game. Gran Turismo is not just a game. It has become a “Way of Life” for many of us. I look forward to seeing people post their positive comments.

    6. Johnnypenso

I don’t see you making many positive comments about Grid Autosport or Forza sounds or Assetto Corsa TenD. A little kettle/pot thing going on you’ve got there. This is an opinion forum. GT has the biggest user base so it will have the most opinions. Some people are not happy with the state of the franchise, especially when they see others doing aspects of sim driving/racing better. Deal with it. The mods generally don’t see to have any trouble with it, why should you? If you can’t handle negative opinions about a videogame from anonymous people on the internet, especially those without swearing or text speak, you’ve got some life issues and what is happening here is the least of your problems.

    7. Master Weasel

@ynot: So let me get this straight – Nothing is open to criticism? It’s also ironic how you say we should be thankful we aren’t still playing Pole Position when if it weren’t for people pointing out flaws and improving things, nothing would get better and we’d still be playing that.

  12. Mickeman

In other news, Dirt Rally just added Pikes Peak, didn’t the GT boys scan the very same track years ago?

    1. Magic Ayrton

Downloading now.. can’t believe GT let the ball drop as usual.. shouldn’t be surprised though, Sigh..

  13. RandomCarGuy17

I look forward to finding out what it is. Though, I think it’s obvious that it’ll be the GTR LMP being included for the final round of GTAcademy.

  14. edawg456

New slogan for PD and GT6, “the real let down simulator”. Sold the game over a year ago. And have haven’t played it since before I sold it. Most likely I’ll pass on gt7 and move on to forza due to PD’s failed promises for gt6.

    1. Magic Ayrton

I agree.. I was all excited about GT academy this year.. round one I get 4 seconds inside Gold.. was pretty happy next up round two.. I get this “you cannot participate” “you must complete round one first” ha!! what a joke.. have not touched the game since..

  15. DYLAN777-is-not

But I really can’t wait to for the new Lmp car coming out! It looks so fun. Can’t wait to own it and drive it. I loved the hybrid Toyota Lmp they put in last time!

  16. DYLAN777-is-not

The comments section always shocks me here. The comments are always like a mangled corpse in a car wreck. I know I shouldn’t look but since I’m here I take a peak and blahm! Total regret.
You people complain like bipolar idiots(I’m sorry but you started it not me) you complain that PD doesn’t take enough time on their games but you also complain they take too long to come out. I mean you need to use common sense. You can’t add speed plus quality and equal an elite racing game with an unprecedented amount of content in it. Calm down and wait for it. Throwing a bunch of angry words at PD and Kaz is mean and uncalled for. I just wanted to put those things out there.

    1. Ryan Lynch

I have to agree. First time comment here but I feel obligated to agree with Dylan777. The amount of work and updates to gt6 alone is amazing… and it’s free. I understand suggesting improvements to pd, but the negativity is way to common, it’s embarrassing as a fellow GT user.

    2. Ryowatanbe201

I have to agree with you on this one sir. It’s funny to see GT “Fans” always bashing at Kaz and PD team. I don’t get it. It is like you said, they want a good game but they don’t want to wait for it they want it now.

I love GT Series for what they are. Don’t get me wrong i’d love to see GT7 also but if i have to wait 2 more years to get a perfect game i’ll do it. Yes we know that turn 10 put’s out a forza game around a year or two. But the thing is… look at it. They sell stuff that was in previous games, Sorry to say it but since forza 3 all of them are a copy paste from previous games. Yes forza 5 seemed different, but guess what its the same just better looking thanks to Current gen. ( xbox one) now also we should not be comparing games here. PD its not interested in competing with other games. They take their time. For them its not a race unlike others devs. That get games out each year. So relax chill the buck out and enjoy the “drive of your life” ;) go PD!

    3. BobbyBRAKEaNek

I agree with you guys. The negativity doesn’t help with anything. It just shows where the babes suckling on their mom’s breast are. Once they put it out of their mouth the crying begins.

    4. Johnnypenso

@Ryowatanbe..you do realize that GT is the king of recycling content from older games right? You do realize that all the content in Forza 5 is next gen right? You do realize that all the things you deride Forza for are all the things PD is guilty of right?

    5. CowboyAce57

I agree with @DYLAN777-is-not. People need to realize that everything will not be available at the start. Whining and complaining does not help anything. If you don’t like GT6, don’t play it then.

    6. ryzno

^^^You know GT copy and pastes also, right?
We will see the same standard car’s in GT7. So much for making a new game…

    7. Tenacious D

One thing the “critics” don’t seem to get is that there are miles difference between giving critiques, and flat out grumping and throwing tantrums. When these people mock the fans, is that to engage in an “exchange of ideas”? Or just trying to get people who like the series to shut up and go away? It’s hard to tell any difference.

GT7 does need to improve, but from some of the remarks made at GT PLANET for crying out loud, you’d think either GT6 or Kaz ate their pets and ran off with their significant others. It’s really hard to think of a game which causes such hurt feelings. Just imagine if Kaz treated us the way Capcom did the Devil May Cry fans, who have been asking for a proper, serious sequel to DMC ONE for well over a decade. And every game, Capcom gives us the game they want, with punky brat Dantes with no panache and no cool. A racer with cars and tracks with less polygons and fold out flat trees are no comparison. Heck, they even act like Kaz doesn’t care about our requests, when we’ve gotten some damage, some improved audio, some features and goodies along the way. But if you listen to them, you’d think all PD has done is reissue GT2 for ten years. Humans are weird.

GT7 is going to be whatever it is. If you don’t like it, there are plenty of games out there to choose from. Heck, some of you won’t stop reminding us of that fact. Why don’t you play them, and go hang out on boards devoted to these games so you can hug each other in endless kumbayas? Or do you really enjoy whinging endlessly? ;D

    8. Tenacious D

“We will see the same standard car’s in GT7. So much for making a new game…”

See what I mean? Haven’t so much as seen a pixel of it, and GT7 is an auto-suck for people here. Such a wunnerful feeling of community I get here. ;-)

    9. ryzno

The first thing we will see is no interior, Tenacious D. ;) Regardless I’ll be one of the many people pre-ordering if I’m still alive lol.

    10. Ryowatanbe201

@Johnnypenso Forza fan boy says what?? Let me remind you the site its called GT PLANET. No forza planet if you really dislike GT6 so much why are you here?? I dont like forza but you don’t see me posting rant about the game in their forums or websites. Im so into Gt7 having standar cars. So i can see you all haters roll with more hate. Yes standar cars are copy paste from previous gt games but we dont get charge for it. And we get updated models for free. And yes I’m a GT Fan boy and always will be loved every single GT6. But yet again i am on my fav racing game website. Keep walking forza boy you seem kinda lost.

    11. Johnnypenso

Your comments are quite funny Ryo, thank you. You get caught making up BS, then when someone points it out, you lash back at them personally. Very mature….lol.

    12. ArR29

Couldn’t agree more. The comment section is annoying as hell with full of spoiled brat. “fans” treating Gran turismo 6 as the worst game out there but clearly its not. The content is still massive with free update and stuff. And “fans” of the game is not putting into consideration that this game is running on a ps3 (one of the most hardest platform to develop a game). I don’t mind criticizing PD for their mistake but most of people here are just targeting Kaz for not putting what they want into the game. This is my first time playing GT and I appreciate what PD done to this game. I appreciate their passion in cars and motorsport as a whole. People in this site is shambolic, sad really.

    13. Johnnypenso

Try playing a few other games for a while and you’ll realize that there is a world of possibilities out there and what people really want is for PD to put it all together, or a great deal of it at least, in one title. There’s nothing wrong with that is there? Maybe the PS4 will do that, maybe not we’ll have to wait and see.

  17. Psychopulse

2017?! Is PD for real?! I mean I understand that developing a game takes time, but considering that Turn 10 is releasing Forza games, GT’s main competitor, like every year, PD has to do better than this to keep up with the competition. Simulation racing, let alone the whole racing genre isn’t what it used to be. GT dominated the scene back in the days and naturally has a large fan base, but these days, a fan base alone won’t help much with sales. Consumers want more value out of their games and have much more buying power. The competition is much fiercer, churning out games with far better graphics, at much faster release time frames. Complacency is not an option anymore.

I understand that it apparently takes PD six months to make a car, but six months?! How is Turn 10 able to develop games every year?! And all the cars in Forza are premiums! Actually, there’s not even such a thing as a Premium vs. Standard debate with Forza because all the cars are next-gen. How PD isn’t able to follow suit is just beyond me. Microsoft is a giant, I get it, but so is Sony. I’m sure Sony can afford to invest more on PD to bring GT up to par with the competition. Just like Microsoft did with Turn 10, why doesn’t Sony outsource the development of cars to another developer, like let’s say Evolution Studios? They’re both first-party Sony studios anyway, so it makes sense for the two to work together. The cars in Driveclub are much better than what GT currently has to offer (although that *may* change with GT7), and I’m pretty sure it took Evolution Studios less than six long months to develop one single car in Driveclub. This would allow PD to focus more on the core aspects of the game such as physics and gameplay without too much pressure from making gorgeous car models.

Although when it comes to driving physics, GT is considered to be the best, consumers just don’t care about individual aspects anymore; they want an overall better game that has the graphics, the gameplay, the physics, and the fun factor.

What I’m saying is that PD does not seem to realize that they’re no longer the leader in the genre, which puts them in a precarious situation, if they don’t take steps to adapt themselves and remedy their current predicament. If they’re able to do so however, there is still a chance to prove themselves with GT7 and make it the best game the industry has seen so far.

in response to that, for PD to release GT titles as much as turn 10 does with forza, they need more resources then they already have, which is a crap ton, with forza its more arcade than sim racing which in general doesnt take as much time to do the physics on, whereas PD creates a physics engine for each seperate car/group series of cars that makes them unique, i get they didnt deliver on everything promised but the ps3 as a whole is difficult to work on period, its lke android whereas the xbox is apple, where an app on apple can work flawless with no issues but the android one is buggy and needs improvement bcuz of all the optimization needed to make it work the way the dev team at pd makes gt work which is great, yes project cars nd such may be better but they have bugs to solve as well that shouldnt be there given the dev time they took to do so, but thts my two cents, cant have everything u want, bcuz rushed games are god awful, look at EA for example

    2. Johnnypenso

There is no physics engine for separate groups of cars. There is one physics engine for the entire game and individual cars are given individual traits based on their weight, suspension, tires, chassis etc. Calling Forza more arcade than sim is laughable considering the whole offline career mode in GT and it having the worst AI of all current racing games.

More Lamborghini cars will be nice. DRIVECLUB has the Sesto Elemento and Veneno. Wonder will GT6 has it too.

*Standards in GT7 my point was there man lol . It’s a wholly unacceptable standard to have standards with no interior view on an 8th gen platform .

I had 3000 plus cars in 5 , 400+ in 6 . 7 is not in my future plans unless PD stops it’s blatant disregard for its consumers . I think pcars will make kaz think twice though . GT7 will either sink the franchise or be the return of the king … We will see.

And yes MX5 is awesome … but you don’t need 5 pages of the same car

    1. ChauMing803

They have already pushed back the release date of GT7 to 2017,according to Breathecast.I don’t think this long period of time thrown into developing GT7 should be ignored.Surely nobody wants cars to have no interior,no customization or even quality of them.Yet,with more than a thousand cars already included, and some newer cars which are to be added, they will have to put in much time just for that.

Even if they solely aim at improving car quality, others will complain again:why no improvement in physics?People always say that this is not right, that is bad, etc. However, how can PD go even better than Project CARS’ developer in so many aspects, and at the same time putting things into GT6(VGT,LMPs,and some more)?Project CARS has relied much on response from player base, and even some of the mods are taken to enhance content. This can hardly be done on consoles, which means it makes a greater obstacle for GT to overcome.

Maybe Project CARS excels in car quality,in terms of content, variety and even concepts of the game,GT still does better IMO.At the very least you get to drive different kinds of cars, from a Mazda AZM-1,to the extreme Red Bull. Why GT emphasizes on ‘driving’ is that it is not just about motorsports. You can cruise like IRL while you can also be a competitor in professional races.Concept-wise,you can feel how hardcore just by the look of Project CARS,but that’s it.On the other hand, one thing keeping me go back to GT is it’s idea. Not just concept cars, but the reason why VGT is a feature is why I like the game.To some degree,I can even say the idea PD has put in influences me in my life…

Overall,I am not saying GT is the perfect thing, and I know saying it is better than Project CARS doesn’t change the fact that it needs improvement.Nevertheless,I think everyone,as a gamer, should not neglect the effort to publish the game. They have a huge fanbase, which means they have to listen to different opinions. It is hard for them to complete all. Also,if I am to choose to have GT only focusing on one thing or gradual all round upgrade,I would choose the latter one, because that’s why GT is here. Let them do it,and I believe they will exceed our expectation!

    2. Tenacious D

“Standards in GT7 my point was there man lol . It’s a wholly unacceptable standard to have standards with no interior view on an 8th gen platform .”

Well, so if they reappear in GT7, are you going to disappear? That’s fine, more bandwidth for us. ;D

    3. TJC_69

I think there will only be the casual minority playing gt by then. All the real drivers looking for realism will be long gone ;)

But you can knock over some cones in your ps2 unrendered cars , I think you’ll like that

  20. TRLWNC7396

    Well, finally, it’s official.

Yas Marina coming, however, I very seriously doubt. They may surprise us, but it took, what, 3 years for Silverstone to show up? Yeah, unless something impressive happened, the marina isn’t going to be here this year.

It’s going to be neat to drive the LM. I wonder if it will be a prize car or if we will have to wait until after the competition is over….. With what they did last round, I would be a bit surprised if we didn’t get it with a finished lap.

Course maker? Hmm….. That is the silver bullet to compete with pCars if they want to keep their heads above water. We shall see. It would, however, be stupid of them to NOT compete with pCars!

  21. Cesarestevao

would be nice if they bring Yas Marina to GT6 and please bring update for the Zytec Nissan LMP2 and Toyota TS030 these cars need more power.
I can not keep up with gt cars like the Mclaren BMW F1 GTR race car on long straight like monza wilth my Zytec Nissan LMP2!!!

    1. Obelisk

Seriously? I’m certain that the Zytek and the TS030 are at full power and at their real life counterparts’ full specs. So if you have trouble keeping up with the F1 GTR, get a more powerful GT class car.

    2. missnbelle86

They’re not going to do that. The Zytek and TS030 are accurate. The reason they are not able to keep up with older car is because The ACO changed the rules for cars between the 90’s and today. Back in the 90s Le Mans was about pure speed, and today it’s about the perfect mix of speed and efficiency. Also an LMP2 car has always been a bit slower on the straights and faster in corners compared to GT1 class cars.

  22. Antony Henley

Personally speaking I would love to see Yas Marina in the game and seeing as Race camp is not at Silverstone (which is in the game) this year then it would make sense to have it in the game along with the Nissan LMP car. Although your speculation about Le Mans themed final academy event could be a winner. BUT the Nissan car could all ready be in there. Oh hold on the hackers (you know the ones that always look at your christmas presents under the tree and tell you what they are) already checked the last patch didnt they.

The only hype I see is this community starting the hype train off. Yep they have mentioned about a course creator….. But personally speaking if the PS3 struggles with the Rally / Arcade checkpoint thing (cant remember what its called) that was added a few months ago then I seriously doubt we will see a course creator any time soon if at all in the PS3 release of GT6. GT7 on the PS4 then maybe.

It would be nice to to kind of have a non career type solo championship. Where the choice for Grid or rolling starts, where you could enter the max amount of laps or miles to be covered so each track in that championship would have a different set of laps for it. Then the same type of car either by HP or “classification” This is where GT goes wrong in their classification of things. You just dont race a car from the 1960’s with cars from say 2010 it just isnt real!!!! I have to say that I like the way that Project cars do the classifications not this PP crap.

But hey we all have our own opinions on how GT should be etc etc etc so I will leave it at that and look forward to the update.

    1. Tenacious D

I have to question a Course Maker making it into GT6 too – at least on PS3.

Many of us would either like a Prologue, or rather than a Spec 2 update which might not improve GT6 all that much, just port all the assets (cars and tracks) into the GT7 engine, tweak any coding, and overhaul everything including an all new single player “career” in GT Mode. Release it with the newly revealed Logitech wheel and revel in a game which should have happened in the first place. Well, except it would have had to rely on an expensive Thrustmaster wheel with questionable reliability. Maybe waiting a couple of years for this is a good idea. I’ve grown to loathe all the issues in GT5 and wanted a new Gran Turismo badly.

Will this happen? Will we get a Prologue? Who knows, but we won’t have a long wait to see something. There’s lots of debate on whether we’ll get word of GT7 at E3, but if not E3, there’s GamesCon, Tokyo Game Show… plenty of opportunities for SONY or The Kaz to drop word of the next installment in the saga. With three Forzas, Assetto Corsa and Project CARS in the market already, and #DriveClub sucking, I expect SONY to want to remain relevant to racing gamers this year.

    2. Tenacious D

Woops, meant to indicate word of something new with Gran Turismo this year. Could be GT7, could be a Prologue, could be a GT6 remastered. With all things GT, we’ll see. ;-)

    3. Johnnypenso

The “debate” on GT7 @ E3 is just a bunch of people wishing for it to happen. Those most in the know, including Jordan, say not to expect any GT7 news at E3.

  23. TJC_69

Yas Marina ? Doubtful , no idea where this speculation started … Expect a Le Mans themed seasonal event @600pp with the TS030 being driven by everyone ….plus round 4 GTA at le sarthe i’d expect .

Peugeot vgt ? Since it’s been ready for ages it’s more than likely included .

Course maker speculation ? … Just pure lol at that thought :D

PD couldn’t lie straight in bed with their hyped non existent features .
Remember the majic pd word people ….. *Soon ;)

*Will take any amount of time we like . Years, usually . Non communication with consumers as standard . Speaking of standard, hope you’re looking forward to all my standard cars on GT7 . I love them, you will too. And its still 1999 in my kaz mind . You like mx5 ?

    1. Tenacious D

Yeah, I like the MX-5. I love the Standards. Most of my cars are Standards, several hundred of them in GT5 and 6 both. ;D

You don’t like them? No one’s twisting your arm to take Photo Mode pics of them.

    2. Mickeman

Lulz at standard cars, luv dem placeholder black cockpits, and if you don’t, you can use the strapped under da car cam or standing on the roof view :)

  24. toospiciecc

I’m actually pumped about June 2 already for The 2015 Nissan GT-R LMP Nismo LMP1 coming to Gran Turismo 6 before The actual car Debuts at Le Mans!!!!!!
I can’t wait to drive it from Le Mans to Barhurst. (On the Game of course)

  25. TomBrady

This is making Yas Marina seem like more of a possibility for the final round of GT Academy. I hope so. Great track.

    1. TomBrady

I doubt they’d add Dubai out of the blue. Would be great though, that’s a great track in pCars.

    2. Johnnypenso

One of the few modern circuits that I enjoy is Dubai. Would be a great addition to any game but I’d guess it’s a rather large modeling effort.

    1. Terronium-12

You’re right. The calendar for Windows 10 is all kinds of foolishness. I’m just noticing that it’ll display the proper date in the taskbar but when you bring up the calendar app, today, Tuesday, is the 28th – hence my (mis)understanding of June 1st being this Friday.

  26. RoyalKINGz

money says new cars nd the yas marina circuit, that or jus the new cars nd sumthin else good, either way ill enjoy it more, evr since this lmp2 car came ive been addicted to running races with it

  27. FerrariFXX 07

Right now, I’m guessing the Peugeot VGT and the release of the GTR LM in the final round.
I’m not going to say course creator I am 99.9% sure that it will not be in the next game update.
