Nissan Australia has officially confirmed the GT Academy program is coming “Down Under”!

14 of the finalists will be chosen from various public qualification events around Australia, including several events at V8 Supercar Championship races. Another 14 finalists can qualify via an “online package” to be released on the PS3, indicating another stand-alone GT Academy mini-game will host the competition this year.

The top 28 Australian gamers will then compete head-to-head at the country’s national finals. The top 6 will go on to represent their country at Silverstone’s Race Camp in the UK, where they will finally have the chance to become a GT Academy 2014 champion and will race for Nissan in the 2015 Dubai 24 Hours.

Official contest rules and a list of live events are still to come, but according to TheMotorReport.com.au, the competition begins as early as this coming weekend with a public qualifier at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

As always, stay tuned to our GT Academy forums for more discussion with other competitors!

With a V8SC round at New Zealand, plus the online package, I think its possible,

But I’m definitely going to keep my eyes peeled tomorrow at Clipsal,

Doesn’t seem like NZ’s included, but there’s still a bit of hope left since official rules haven’t been published yet. Here’s hoping.

Super happy Aussies finally get their chance again though, it’s gonna be an absolutely BRUTAL competition. If I could pick any country in the world to compete in GT Academy for, Australia would be my last pick xD.
