GT Academy Winner On Class Pole at Spa 24 Hours

Great news for our man Lucas Ordoñez (winner of the first GT Academy)! Lucas and his team, RJN Motorsports, have qualified their Nissan 370Z have first in its class for the Spa 24 Hours race this weekend. I’m not aware of any online live video streams of the race (if you find one, please share it in the comments below), but Lucas has promised me that he’ll be constantly updating his Twitter feed and his Facebook page directly from the paddock throughout the event. Good luck, Lucas!

UPDATE: You can watch a good video stream of the race here, or check out links to other streams people are sharing in the comments below (thanks again, guys).

    Congrats to lucas! He makes every GT fans very proud. I mean come on he got to be a pro by playing GT! Thanks to Sony and PD. People are so ungrateful at times….like Jordan says go to the official GT site for GT ONLY news. @ hugo stiglitz you so right bro.

    I don’t notting about the carrules in this race. but i thought the Ford GT is one of the fastest car on the field. but in reality its not?

  3. akiraacececombat

    It seems like his car had gearbox problems,so far he fall in 38,so far until no no sights of retirement,lets hope they get it running again!!!

  4. moving-target

    Too bad,

    looks like it’s over for him. 39 of 40. If number 40 should manage to continue the race he could end up on the very last place.

    Congrats on the GT Academy. Just overlook the haters in here!

    Yeah, I played iracing and was not impressed, incar gauges were cool. You have to buy the cars and tracks at a big price after the yearly costs. The average sim racer could be able to buy multiple sims compared to just iracing. It was pretty good, but not much different from most PC sims. GT5 graphics will beat PC sim graphics. GT5 might not be considered as a 100% sim, because it doesn’t have the race weekends, but I like having a career mode in games except Forza 3’s forever mode.

    Well… place 38 out of 40 at the moment.

    His Class consists of 4 (four) cars.

    It simply has nothing to do with the quality of GT or iRacing or…

    Good Job Lucas!! You are living the dreams of millions of us!! You’ve got a great team behind you!

    @fogel:
    How are you so sure about SPA in GT5?? I dream about it but we have not seen any SPA pics/demos at all.

  10. Spaghettimonster

    So why is there so little tracks confirmed in the game until now? It doesnt really make sense to spend all time working on cars, does it?

  11. GT_Prologue5

    Great work for him. All because of GT. Shows the influence of it. Hope he at least gets Top 5 for his class.

      “more GT5 please”
      Be a little bit more considerate for the aticles that are placed on this website. Well done Lucas and go for number 1!

      @UmWut
      this site is for news about Gran Turismo, and if GT Academy brought some new guys to the motorsport, it´s ok. fine for them. but not all of us want to know every step of how some extranger is doing on his personal career.
      any way, this site is good, it unites info. but better can be done with it. much better.
      and by the way, good luck extranger

      @mau557

      I want to know. It’s awesome news. Seeing there isn’t a constant flurry of GT5 news this is fine. He’s a member of the GT5 community and is succeeding in real life as a result of Gran Turismo.

      In my opinion that’s far more news worthy than yet another slow motion analysis of damage from a trailer.

    4. Erik

      Not writing about Lucas will not bring more news about GT5. And I’d rather have news about all kinds of GT related stuff than just news on the upcoming GT5. IMO.

    5. tyl0r_r

      @ everyone

      GT academy news counts as GT news. See those letters? Recognize official affiliation? Ok we’re good then.

    6. Chronowerx_GT

      I’m not that interested but I’m not complaining about it. It’s not like there’s a load of GT5 news about at the moment so it’s not hurting anyone or getting in your way. And it is GT related after all. This isn’t a GT5 site, it’s a GT site.

    7. Ferrari

      I would rather see nothing than see the story of this little fella

      it makes me angry that when I entered gtplanet.net I saw a picture and so I automatically thought it was more news about GT5… but nope, it’s about him moving on with his life just like any of us.

    8. Jordan

      If this sort of post makes you “angry”, this isn’t the blog for you. Stick to gran-turismo.com.

    9. ElieTheBear

      jordan is god here ! if theres no gt5 news he can put teletubbies news if he want ! at least ordonez have a real racing life !

    10. HugoStiglitz_420

      dude you need to lighten up. I mean seriously how often do you think they can squeaze info out of PD? You should be grateful that everyday that you check this page, there’s something new. Good for Lucas, must be fun

    11. GasolineJunkie

      I think this is awesome news. whether it has anything to do with the game or not. How hard is it just to not read it if you don’t like it? If I’m not interested in a news article, I don’t read it. Why do people feel that they just have to complain?

    12. ChronowerX_GT

      @Ferrari, you didn’t need to go into the article to see what it’s about. You get the idea of it from the homepage.

    13. Ferrari

      @ChronowerX_GT
      I don’t read titles until I actually click on the link

      @Jordan
      This blog is for me, you guys show many things about GT5 than gran-turismo.com doesn’t
      video interviews is one of the many things.

      It’s just the things that don’t relate to GT5 that piss me off…

      and yes I understand this blog is called gtplanet and not gt5planet.

    1. CanAm1968

      Lucas…congrats, thats a great accomplishment. I hope PD is holding out on a surprise announcement and is including SPA as one of the new tracks in GT5! We can hope :) Thanks also Jordan for keeping us informed with Lucas’s progress and all things GT.
