GT6 Online Service Maintenance Scheduled for November 30th

Evo

GT6 has remained untouched since the long-awaited Course Maker was introduced to the game in Update 1.21, and now has announced a short maintenance period for next week.

The maintenance period is set to last for approximately two hours, scheduled for November 30th. This will start around 0400 UTC (convert to your time zone here) and end at around 0600 UTC, though the time at which you’re able to log back in again may vary.

Although a maintenance notice certainly does not guarantee a game update will be made available, it can’t entirely be ruled out as maintenance periods typically precede update releases.

Does this mean GT6 is done and all the focus is on GT Sport? It would be nice if PD would at least continue with VGT updates for GT6, but now I’m thinking about selling my G27 and getting ready for PS4 abd GT Sport.

    1. monizjer

From what I’ve read from PD and this site it seems that the vgt cars will be released in the forth coming games on the PS4.

    2. Johnnypenso

@machine1121, I’d say no, and no. We literally have no idea what is going to happen with GT6 from this point forward because PD is happy to remain silent about it’s current game. There could be 10 more VGT’s coming or none, we have no way to know. GTS is promising a beta in the spring but I wouldn’t count on that either. Deadlines and promises come and go for PD without a word from them so the beta could be spring, could be summer, could be fall, there’s no way to know. I’d be looking at Christmas/Boxing Week sales for a good deal on PS4 and a wheel as you could save yourself some good coin. Project Cars is worth playing and DC is also fun so you’ll have something to tide you over. Assetto Corsa is due out in the spring as well and hopefully hits it’s target date.

  2. GregOr1971

PD announce “server maintenance” and kids go berserk because it turns out “server maintenance” is “server maintenance” only!?! What a enjoyable community it is.

  3. ynot

Well #%&$, Nothing, did not even know about that bug, wonder what happened to the Bugatti and the Hyundai VGT cars. We never did get them. Guess it was a teaser only. Nobody a bigger GT fan than me but I did just buy Project Cars. Hope it does not take me away from GT.

    1. Progress823

It depends on how you look at PCars. I brought it and sold it in less than two weeks PCars gives you everything that is available in game immediately and is a pure focus on racing. That may be fins for some, but as an GT player since its inception, I was bored quickly. It was nice driving some of the GT3 cars not in GT, most notably the RUF SMS-R with the lovely gtplanet livery.

But try it out for sure. Some love it and swear by it. I was not one of those people.

  4. Musazaki

Yay!!! The patch is out!! Was waiting to see something like 1gb to download… then only 35mb???!!
BUT, the server is still “undergoing maintenance”, so maybe there’s more to come…
    FINGERS CROSSED!
Hopefully when I get back from lunch later there’ll be news…

    1. ribloGT

I turned on My PS3 having breakfast to see if they already did the maintenance and it downloaded the 1.22 patch about 35MB…
It was still under maintenance and wasnt able to check the content but such a small patch leads me to think about just the xmas music and events and/or minor fixings…
BTW i am in Italy… Maybe some People from other countries Will be able to check the contenta of the patch…

  5. ribloGT

The servers are still under maintenance but the 1.22 patch is just 35mb…
Probably just the Xmas music and events…

  6. vrossi

With Project Cars going strong, it’s hard to believe anyone still cares about this game.
& I used to be the biggest GT fan walking.

  7. SS308

    Perhaps I’m confused.

But how does UTC time make it Nov 30th, and not Dec 1st?
The date of the news item seems wrong to me.

    1. SS308

      @SVPSkins
      Who says?
      No-one.
GTSPORT Beta isn’t until ‘early’ or ‘spring’ 2016 depending on which quote you wish to use.
Release date isn’t know, but without question significantly later.
      Probably late 2016.
VGT is a 15th anniversary GT project.
      Therefore designed for GT6.

There is no evidence that VGT’s won’t come to GT6.
And indeed, that also includes other cars as well, such as the Toyota S-FR.

GT6 on the PS3 will almost without question be supported well beyond GTSPORT on the PS4.
      The surely means 2017.

Additional content will still come to GT6.

    2. Johnnypenso

Correct. There is no evidence VGT’s won’t come to GT6. There’s also no evidence that GT6 will be supported into 2017 or that additional content will still come to GT6.

    3. biftizmo

Do you not think GT will continue as it is …while sport is a side track to a FIA competition and a chance to experiment with VR fully exsperianceing the interior of future cars and the Bugatti is in the middle of both worlds…

  8. FluufyZ

I just want a detailed supra rz. I’m not asking for much PD. I know you think we’re stupid fans but we also pay you your stupid money that you spend God knows where on stupid stuff like GT Academy and adding more Nissans to the game. Please for heavens sake just listen to us.

    1. Manasseh257NSX

One of the most requested car to be made into premium. NFS didn’t even include the RZ, they gave the SZ-R

I want a premium Supra sooooo bad.

    2. JDMKING13

@manasseh257NSX I feel you bro.. My man Kaz must have something against the Supra lol. Its cool to have the SZ-R and the RZ but we need a 98 premium RZ!

    3. anthonylu

But at least the GT500 version of the Toyota supra is detailed and it’s also a base model where u can change colour, wheels and number plate.

    4. SS308

      For god’s sake PD.
Give these sheep a premium Supra RZ.
The significance of this particular car is what exactly??
The number of more significant cars is endless.
And yet they all complain about this one car.
One person complains, they all follow.
It’s beyond painful watching these sheep all complain about the same car.
For the love of god, put me out of my misery.

    5. Johnnypenso

It’s also painful watching people like you ridicule others for what they want. It’s an extremely popular car among auto enthusiasts and GT fans, your comments are unnecessary and insulting.

  9. FS7

Maybe there will be an update to include Christmas music in the background like in previous years. Everybody know that’s more important than better offline racing, new tracks, or new cars.

    1. Tweetman_277

Never be mean about the Christmas music, I really loved hearing that on GT5. It seemed like such a nice touch.

  10. ynot

    Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas this year is:

    1) To be able to change from regular tracks to custom tracks and back again without having to create a new lobby.

    2) Oil changes within the online lobby.

    3) Tuning during a pit stop.

    4) Less tire screech or a setting to turn down it’s volume.

    5) A 4th tab that sets the car to stock, how you bought it, without changing any of the other 3 tabs.

    Thank You for listening.

    Happy Holidays Everyone

  11. Donnced

Mmmmmm,so GT6 will maybe have a update with two fake cars without detailed interior… Why PD it takes to you 5 months since the last Vision launched? Why people still believe in you and in your game while you didn’t fixed the broken physics in two years? What’s about your monthly updates you promised? What’s about the vision gt list you said that should be completed in two years?
Meanwhile you keeping selling smoke other smaller Studios (slightly Mad Studios) are doing monthly updates and in six months launched more cars than you PD..and with full detailed interiors..and all real cars! Blame you PD!

Here’s the list of cars that Pcars launched in six months!

    – Mercedes-AMG C-Class Coupe DTM
    – Sauber C9
    – BMW M1 ProCar

    – 1967 Lotus Type 51 (FF)
    – 1070 Lotus Type 49C Cosworth (F1)

That one of the reasons i seld the GT6 game, and one off the reasons that i don’t think about buying GTS or GT7

    1. ynot

How many of those cars were already in GT6 at it’s release date? A few. After driving several racing games I always go back to Gran Turismo and the others are in a drawer. I am glad all these other racing games came out on PS4 before GT Sport and/or 7. Gives PD a chance to see the best others had to offer and to come out with something better. Only time will tell. PD must release something great next time with all the other competition out there that fans seem to really like.

    2. FS7

In 6 months SMS released 6 free DLC cars, as well 35 DLC cars + 3 new track locations + 2 classic layouts for US$34 (all cars have interiors, all tracks have dynamic weather and time change), and there’s 6 more cars coming next month, plus more cars & tracks coming next year. SMS also added more career events, and PCars has much better options for setting up offline races than GT6.
Imo PD should pay attention to what other games are doing and try to implement good features from other games into GT.

    3. Donnced

Yes ynot…most of the 1000 cars in GT6 and GT5 are the same of those from GT4…and with their broken physics and the most cars without detailed interior in GT6 showed to me that quantity is not quality!

I was just like you, i came back every time to GT…till i met Pcars and till i played Assetto Corsa… Since that day i just sell GT and don’t even missed it.

In Pcars i just have all i wanted, Offline endurance, better history mode, online simple but effective, better simulation, better IA,better sounds,damage..visual and mechanical.. All cars detailed inside and outside, track flags. And the game with the most real tracks selection on console.. All of them with 24H cycle and dynamic climes.. Etc etc etc..

Also i really like that the studio cares about what you think about the game, and try to fix or improve the quality of the game with the feedback of the users..

So PD can learn really a lot from them..

    4. ynot

Well Donnced, I’m about to find out. Getting a PS4 here in a couple of weeks. Been holding out until a game came out that I wanted and waiting to see what happens with the wheel manufactuerers. Star Wars is the one. Not a must have by any means but I love space sci-fi stuff. Will have to get a copy of PCARS. Originally was going to come out on PS3 but I guess the machine just has too many limitations as GT6 seems to be tapped out. Hoping PD can deliver a really good game next time out. I’m sure it will be.

    5. SVPSkins

Alot of you seem to forget a very important fact and it amazes me you do. Licensing. With out that, no real cars or tracks can be added to GT games. You think Kaz doesn’t want all those cars in the list above added to GT title in the future? I’m pretty confident he does but with out that licence agreement, it’s not going to happen and the only people stopping that from happening are the Manufacturers or Track owners.

    6. Johnnypenso

PD already has business relationships with everyone on Donnced’s list except for Ariel and Lykan, both of whom are anxious for exposure. Licensing is a non-issue for any of these cars. And if PCars can afford to license on their shoestring budget, I’m sure PD can too.

    7. BWX

Yes it is very sad what has become of my once favorite racing game, Gran Turismo. Seems PD and Kaz have become extremely lazy or disorganized or complacent, or arrogant, or… something.

GT as a whole is in shambles as far as I am concerned and I will never spend another dime on a playstion system or GT game unless their go back to their roots, which to me means concentrating on the career mode of GT, and making it fun and interesting again, like it was before the terrible GT5 and the awful GT6.

It seems as the GFX and physics get better, the game play and total experience gets worse at an exponential rate.

The physics issues that are never fixed are inexcusable, the ai is pathetic, and the career mode is a slap in the face to any long time GT fan. The extreme lack of new content such as updated and new cars is also pathetic, and the stale and boring to-the-point-of-agony “seasonals” scheme is horrific. The “chase-the-rabbit” ai and non standing starts are icing on the maggot infested pooh cake.

Oh well.. might as well get over it and move on. The excellent GT as we knew it long ago is as dead as the V12 in Formula 1. Thanks Kaz, for wrecking a once great racing game.

    8. TeamCZRRacing

Well BWX, us GT fans will just be sitting over here enjoying all of the great advantages GT has over other games, like better replays, photo mode, Course Creator, etc. :)

  12. AYTErhan

Am I the only one in here who wants an update that gives all cars to the arcade mode? Sadly, I know it won’t be the update I want.

  13. zooburner

Don’t we normally get a Christmas treat about this time, a series of races that pay good credits and have great prize cars ?

  14. SVPSkins

Well first update with no course creator hype. I will be just normal fixes and stuff. not expecting any cars to be added.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

Why would you try to anyway? The hype train is one of the main reasons the community is so crappy right now, and you know it.

    2. Johnnypenso

Because it’s super fun. It’s the lack of a steady stream of meaningful content that makes the community crappy, not the hype train.

    3. TeamCZRRacing

You know how it works. A maintenance/update is announced, people get hyped up about it. Then they start speculating about whatever may be in the update, and the hype builds up even more. And then it’s revealed that there isn’t an update, or the contents of it were not what was expected. Then a certain small number of users start flinging even more crap at PD than they usually do, and anyone who either enjoys the content of the update or tries to discuss the matter with them gets savaged to no end. Anyone who isn’t wearing rose-tinted glasses can see that. Want evidence? Try every single news post regarding an update to either GT5 or GT6.

And “the lack of meaningful content?” GT6 already has four times the cars FM6 did on launch, and over 12 times the number of cars pCARS had, and now that the TPE is out, we get dozens and dozens of tracks every *day.* With FM6, I could probably wring every single drop of enjoyment out of it in about two months, give or take. pCARS… well, let’s not go there. Yet I don’t see you complaining about the lack of content in those games.

    4. Johnnypenso

New content trumps 10 year old content any day. It’s the new stuff people want, most could care less about all the legacy assets in GT6 we’ve been playing them to death for a decade. They’re old, they’re massively out of date, and thrown into the game just to pad the car and track count. It’s nothing to brag about believe me. And just so you know, FM is about to pass the GT series for current gen content and there’s little doubt their car library is more varied, more eclectic, more relevant and more current. If they included all their cars from Forza 1-4 I’m sure they’d have 1000+ cars too.

    5. TeamCZRRacing

@SlipZtrem Yeah, I looked that over after I posted it and realized I’d made a math mistake. My bad.

@Johnnypeonso So none of the classic cars in GT6 count if they’re not also in FM6, AC or pCARS? Goodness, your view of GT6 is awfully selective. You only see what you want to, it seems.

    6. Johnnypenso

No idea what point you’re trying to make. As I already mentioned, regardless of how much content is in a game or how big it is, people want new stuff. That’s why people get hyped over updates and often get disappointed. They want new stuff. 90 % of the cars and more than 80% of the tracks in GT6 were recycled content. We’ve already played it to death. Playing old content is not an answer to a lack of additional DLC any more than telling someone to play a previous version of the game is. It’s new content that keeps a game fresh and alive and that’s what’s missing from GT6. It’s beaten by the lowly Project Cars in DLC volume already and can’t hold a candle to FM.

    7. TeamCZRRacing

So you’d rather a game ship with virtually no content and have to buy additional packs first rather than having tons of content there at your fingertips? Look, most of GT6’s content may be recycled, but perhaps if you weren’t so bent on having the latest and greatest constantly you may actually enjoy GT6.

But I doubt you’d even try that because you WANT to hate GT6, and you’re not afraid of telling others that they should hate it too.

    8. Johnnypenso

You can’t see the forest for the trees buddy. You are entirely focused on the volume of cars and it blinds you to everything else. A high quality experience with 50 cars and 20 good laser scanned tracks is far better to me than a below average experience with 5000 cars and 500 tracks. Quality will always trump quantity IMO. Some people really enjoy the buffet, some of us prefer fine dining. Money is not an issue for me in any game, I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on games over the years, what’s another $50 for additional content I’m going to enjoy for hundreds of hours? It’s peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

    9. SS308

After reading endless posts of yours, your bias against GT is obvious to a blind man.
Your recent constant quote of ‘playing the ball not the man’ is stolen from another forumer.
So it’s perhaps time to drop it.

But, in your case, it does apply.
Your post history shows what’s known as trolling.

So I’m more than happy to ‘play the man.’
      Everything you say isn’t ‘fact’.
      It’s no more than ‘opinion’.
You are of course welcome to put forward that opinion.
From what I’ve seen on this website, those opinions are up for questioning.
In fact, from what I’ve seen from you, those posts are worth arguing against as if somehow someone’s opinion can be wrong, and needs correcting.

So if you continue to persist to hide behind the AUP as a defence for your trolling, you’re mistaken.

Consider that ignoring the ball btw.

    10. Johnnypenso

Obviously you’ve been following me so you should know I don’t respond to personal attacks. Play the ball son, play the ball.

    11. TeamCZRRacing

@Johnny I apologize. That last sentence was a bit harsh. I know not to let my emotions get the better of me like that.

@SS308 As Johnny says: play the ball, NOT the man. We’re here to have civil discussions. Personal attacks have no place here on GTP.

@Johnny Regardless, I think my point still stands. I usually finish a game (by which I mean, do everything in it I want to do) before I can even buy any DLC, and when I buy the DLC, I usually play with it for a few hours and then the game goes back onto the shelf. With a few exceptions (Skyrim, for instance), that’s been the case for every game I’ve owned. Personally I think it says something about GT6 that I haven’t yet experienced everything I want to in it despite the fact that it’s been in my PS3 more or less constantly for two years now, despite the fact that it hasn’t gotten any mentionable amount of DLC at all.

But then again, perhaps it’s because I’m old skool and expect developers to actually include everything they can on the disc and not purposely hold things back.

    1. Johnnypenso

Probably because of the lack of new content makes it appear as if the game has been abandoned..just a guess though…lol.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

Maybe. Of course it’s possible they’re just performing some backend maintenance to ensure online services are as stable as possible.

    2. TeamCZRRacing

I said “as stable as possible.” I didn’t say “completely stable” because I know as well as both of you do that a P2P-based online system is never going to be very stable. I’m not stupid. ._.
