GTPlanet Weekly Rewind: Differences Brought to Life

Gran Turismo 6

It appears things are slowly beginning to heat up if this past week’s festivities are any indication, we are quickly closing in on the final days of January and will soon be welcoming the 1st of February, which means an update is on the horizon. What next month’s update(s) will contain is anyone’s guess, but if you tuned in to the roundtable discussion earlier this week then you’ll know what’s been teased, and if you don’t know you’re in for quite the surprise so continue to read on.

Without further ado let’s get this party started!

Can You Spot the Differences?

Here’s a cool thread that was brought to my attention by a few people, and put together by our very own markwang, that animates the differences between vehicles found in Gran Turismo 6, whether it be the subtle differences of one model year compared to another, a road car compared to its racing counterpart, or the steady evolution of an entire model generation, it’s all animated for you to see. And it doesn’t end there either.

There are currently well over 30 images and if you find yourself staring at several for an extended period of time there’s no need to be alarmed, as to be quite honest they’re all rather hypnotic! You’ll definitely want to stop by his thread and see what you can spot, because who knows, maybe there’s more difference to a particular model than you originally thought.

New Gran Turismo 6 Track Revealed – Coming Soon?

new-gt6-track-2

As previously mentioned, if you caught this past Wednesday’s roundtable livestream there’s no denying you caught wind of a new track that could be on its way to Gran Turismo 6 as soon as next month.

Little is known at this point but do keep a lookout for things to come in February, and be certain to watch Kazunori Yamauchi’s presentation at the 2014 Taipei Game Show tomorrow, January 25th, as he’ll make the next round of announcements for GT6.

GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week

Gran Turismo 6

This week’s featured vehicle, still a newcomer at the time, recommended to us by All Your Base, puts the spotlight on the Pagani Zonda C12, particularly, the 7.3L V12-powered C12 S.

After successfully marketing the Zonda for three years, Pagani of Italy has upgraded the Zonda to include a new 7.3-liter V12. Horacio Pagani is the man behind the Zonda. With experience gained by working at Lamborghini, he brought the Zonda C12 into fruition. The first prototype was seen at the 1999 Geneva Auto Show.

As a newcomer to the super car market, Pagani is taking on the top manufacturers. They completed this remarkable car in 1999 and will continue to sell it against the Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT and Koenigsegg CC.

Zonda entered the supercar market with Pagani’s extended knowledge of carbon fiber construction. Before the car, Pagani manufactured carbon fiber components for third party manufacturers. They now use the Zonda to showcase their high level of carbon fiber craftsmanship and work it to make a top flite supercar.

Each Zonda is a carbon fiber masterpiece, with every layer of fiber being carefully lined up. Indeed, the Zonda eclipses Ferrari when it comes to carbon fiber construction. Much of the car sports unpainted, carbon fiber components, reminding the owner of what lies under the glossy paint.

GTPlanet Tune of the Week

Quite a few people have requested this, so here we go: this week’s featured tune, recommended to us by Roweer1 and doodlemonopoly (just to name two!) and courtesy of BanditKarter22, features the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R tuned for last week’s Seasonal Event at Deep Forest Raceway.

As you can see, things have been a little differently this week with the video shown above, but you can still stop by the Scirocco Super Lap thread, and let BanditKarter know his tune made it here! I’m wise to the game you’re playing, sir…

Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.

Closing Thoughts

What a crazy week this has been, and as you may have already noticed, there’s no Member of the Week for the last full week of January. That’s largely due to nearly everything getting away from me, in fact, by the time I had begun putting this week’s Rewind together it was already Friday morning, so you can see my dilemma. Don’t worry, the feature will be back next week and to make up for it I’ll hope to have the first Member of the Week Double Feature, so get those votes in now!

That’s about all for me this week, and if you’re wondering where this week’s photomode competitions are, they’ve yet to be posted and when they are you can fully expect them to magically appear here as usual.

Until next week, keep racing!
