Nissan’s Concept 2020 Vision GT Car Set for Goodwood Reveal

Nissan’s “CONCEPT 2020” Vision Gran Turismo project car – so radical in its design that it’s become a controversial point of debate in our community – will see its real-world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week (it’s coming to the game in July).

New photos of the car’s model have been published, which give a better look at the proportions and angles in the design.

“This is in line with the Nissan philosophy,” says Koji Nagano, Vice President, Nissan Design Europe. “In reality, not everyone would be able to own a car like NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, but through Gran Turismo anyone can drive it and experience Nissan’s promise of delivering innovation that excites.”

The front end looks amazing and is the best part. And the rest of the car reminds me of a konensegg.

  2. HuskyGT

Yeah, looks better than the first pictures. I actually like the rear end. Let’s just hope it isn’t a freaking Turbo V6. At least make it a low displacement Turbo V8.

  3. shawtyoner

Way to many lines, way to many angles. I don’t know why concept means it has to look like some aliens interpretation of a car. The most beautiful cars ever made were the simplest cars ever designed.

    1. Rios

I think that reason is called aerodynamics, you’re probably not a car designer so probably not a concept you’d really understand.

    2. kel239

Umm just no. Firing a lot of crazy lines and pointy corners on a car, doesn’t make it aero dynamic, doesn’t matter who told you that, or when they told you. Maybe under certain regulations, it may be best to use aggressive turning techniques, but if the rules weren’t there, then it wouldn’t be nessessary, best look at f1 before it became so restrictive, or aero planes (not the military ones, cause they have to be flat and pointy for stealth) most aerodynamic shape is the tear drop.

I kinda agree. You have 4 other VGT’s to choose from, and what, like 1200+ other in-game vehicles to choose from. Driving it isn’t a necessity.

I just hope it’s paintable like the Mitsubishi and capable of getting it’s rims changed like… Well, so far there are very few race cars & no VGT’s that can have their rims changed. I miss that about Gran Turismo 3.

  4. hairystig

Its starting to grow on me a bit although from the front it looks like an ugly rip off of the Jaguar C-X75 hybrid gas turbine concept thing they did a few yrs back.

“so radical in its design that it’s become a controversial point of debate in our community”

So people are bitching about it…..ffs Im glad im with the RoninGt community to be honest. None of this hosing down the forum with testosterone laden teenagers!
Nice to see news on GTplanet but as far as engaging with the community….. i’ll pass. Overall from what I have seen the car looks good. will have to wait until I see some proper photos of it at Goodwood this year. But I dont see anything wrong with it.

    1. NJ72

Surely the whole point of a forum is to discuss people’s opinions – which by extension includes their taste in the particular looks of the car?

Admittedly some people are probably a bit sniffier about it than they should be but still…

    2. SZRT Ice

I think the car looks amazing yet see no need to label the whole of GTPlanet as “testosterone laden teenagers”. Your comment is more “laden with testosterone” than most actually. People are different and are attracted to different things. From music to taste in women, why is a difference of opinion dealt with with such hostility?

I for one like standing out and doing things differently. Doesn’t make me immature or full of testosterone, it simply makes me “me”. And if people follow crowds, that makes them “them”. It’s all a matter of choice and preference and that will change from subject to subject amongst individuals.

What is it to you if someone doesn’t like something?

    3. Eyes Fried Open

Well go back to your LAME ronin GT Site. Just checked it out my self spent all of about 2 mins there. GTP is 10 x better that.

  6. Magic Ayrton

Actually, this is looking far better than I first thought, and I bet they make an effort to make it sound and handle better (COUGH)

  7. NJ72

Don’t know if it’s been pointed out, but this looks like the first vision GT concept without the GT logo somewhere :S

  8. Durodes

    I doubt it’ll have interior.

But I think it looks cool. Ugly but cool.

Especially the back. Hideous and still very cool.

  9. SavageEvil

Front end looks like someone from Lamborghini design team is over at Nissan, that is one huge rear diffuser, I’m wondering about those rear panels ahead of the rear wheels, what do they do and what is their purpose. Anyone else notice that this car looks like an updated version of that black and white unknown car in the Silverstone reveal video, look at that rear end looks revamped but the lights are nearly the same quad rear lights larger outer rings with smaller inner rings. Interesting, can’t wait to take it for a spin.

  10. TeamCZRRacing

Funny to think how in just two years we’re going to jump from this to cars like the Nike ONE 2022. :P

    1. SavageEvil

Because remaining stable at high speeds makes sense, aesthetics are moot when you want to not crash and burn.

  11. tpark103

Astonishing profile and that swoopy curvatious midsection looks like a work of ART from some angles. My only concern are those hard creases and sharp angles that come out of nowhere and don’t seem to flow with the rest of what appears to be such an elegant design language.

    1. ildd

I don’t like any of it but the back is the most redeeming. Which makes sense because that’s what most people will see.

  12. John_Marsten

I hate the rear wheel arches, but damn, the rest of the car is kind of growing on me.

The back of the roof screams Konigsegg to me, and for some reason the rear of the car when looked at from straight behind looks kind of pagani-ish.

  13. Situation1994

Is it me or does the name of the car give away a possible release date for a new GTR? (R36 perhaps)

  14. GTPDAMO

Can’t wait to see this in the flesh on Thursday!!!. Can beleive I’m going, thankyou a million gtplanet

    1. sirjim73

Hi, you won 2 of the Thursday tickets?? Cool. Have fun on Thursday!!!

I’m going Saturday thanks to GTPlanet and can’t wait to see this and the other concepts etc… :D

    2. Bom15

congrats to you both. Warning for Thursday though. It’s moving motorshow day so only things involved with that go up the hill. Most exotic are usually the Ferrari’s or R8’s. Paddocks are open but there’s no guarantee everything will be there. Same with the Cartier lawn. All the manufacturer stands on the infield are open. Forest rally stage I expect will have the Fabia S2000’s going round. Any day there is very good though. Gutted I can’t make this year. But Michelin have got a live stream going this weekend so at least I can watch it. One advantage on thursday is that the show guides, food and stuff like that tend to be cheaper. And the place is abit emptier

    3. Bom15

Oh and try get there as early as possible to avoid queues. Saturday if you don’t know. The balls on for the people who bring the cars. It’s a thank you party basically. You can stand outside the house and see people arrive. Stirling moss, Adrian newey, Derek Bell I’ve seen arrive before amongst others. You’ll get asked to leave at somepoint though. But you do see some cars not part of the festival. Seen extra Huayra’s, rollers etc before. Plus if you do decide to try that then you miss the queues leaving the event. Last time I bothered they kicked you out at about 7:30-8pm. It’s such a weird/nice experience walking around the grounds at that time of night.
