Over the past week, Gran Turismo 6 has taken over the small town of Ronda, Spain, in what was arguably one of the largest launch events in the history of the video game industry.

At the Gran Turismo 6 launch event, GTPlanet had the opportunity to take part in a round-table interview with GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi at the Ascari Race Resort.

Gran Turismo 6 is finally here and if you left the previous game feeling a bit weary of the possible absence of Seasonal Events in GT6, fret not as the first round of events are now available featuring the Honda Fit RS, 15th Anniversary Cars (where applicable) and the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision GT.

Gran Turismo 6 releases worldwide today, officially starting the sixth chapter of one of the most popular video game series of all time, having sold more than 70 million copies in total.

The Honda/Acura NSX Concept was added to the GT6 car list a few days ago, and today its inclusion in the game has been formally announced with a gorgeous set of official screenshots. The car was first announced for the GT series in a special trailer (above), released in January last year.

The live build team is making progress on the exact replica of Mario Andretti’s ’48 Hudson race car. It’s been painted and is ready to enter the final stage of the build in preparation for its formal reveal to Mario and its eventual launch in GT6.

Well then, that was quick wasn’t it? We started this podcast almost six months ago with the goal of covering every bit of news and gossip regarding GT6, and now we’re here, release imminent! But of course this doesn’t mean the show’s ending, to be terribly cliché: the show is only just begun and we sincerely hope you plan to stick around, because we certainly plan to.

Gran Turismo Drive is the newest street in Bathurst City, home of the famous Mount Panorama roadcourse featured in GT6. Named in honor of Polyphony Digital’s work in recreating and promoting the proud landmark of the city for GT6. Officials from the city, including its mayor Gary Rush and racing driver Shane Jacobson were on hand to open the road to the public in ceremony.

The first of many promised updates to Gran Turismo 6, is now available, and it brings with it some of the game’s major new features which have been announced over the past few months but which were not included in version 1.00, which is printed on the game discs being sold.

GT6 officially releases on December 6, but the digital version of the game has already gone live in the PlayStation Store, according to reports from many users in our forums, although you won’t be able to actually play it until the game is “activated” (which will happen, presumably, sometime within the next few hours as December 6th nears).

The latest Seasonal Events are now available in Gran Turismo 5, featuring a series of five expert level racing events exclusive to French cars of any make or model year with no more than 450PP and no better than Sports/Hard compounds or less.

An update to the GT6 online features page has shed more light on the expanded online racing functionality we can expect to be included in the game.

Fulfilling their promise of consistently expanding the roster of cars featured in Gran Turismo 6, Polyphony Digital has updated the game’s official car list to include a few important new models.

Gran Turismo 6 players will be the first to sample the new series BMW M4 before it releases to car buyers in the Summer of 2014. In an exclusive deal with the famous German marque, GT6 will deliver this car into players’ garages as free DLC coming soon after GT6’s launch. The car was spotted around Ronda, Spain, during the Gran Turismo 6 Launch party on day one and then saw track time at Ascari Race Resort circuit in the following day of events.

When the Lunar Roving Vehicle was first revealed in Gran Turismo 6, it caused quite a stir and immediately became one of the most unique and noteworthy cars in the history of the franchise.

Amongst all the announcements at the GT6 launch event in Ronda, Spain, one of the most unexpected surprises came from the city of Ronda itself, as the mayor announced a street would be named in honor of Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
