Forza Horizon 4 isn’t due out until October 2. But, thanks to a glitch with the Microsoft Store, we now have an idea of what the car list might look like.
Reddit user “daten-shi” found their PC pre-order started downloading the game. Once they noticed the files being put onto their computer, they started snooping around to see if they could uncover the car list. Thankfully, they found what appears to be the file for the vehicle assets.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t look like the full list of cars. One of the biggest omissions is the McLaren 720S, which made a recent appearance in some of the gameplay videos. Also, as you might remember, Brian Ekberg mentioned the 720S and all but confirmed it for FM7.
The other glaring absence is the McLaren Senna, which is the most prominent car in the pre-release footage. However, Redditors are guessing its file name is “Wellington”. That lines up with previous Forza games and their respective cover cars. “Raymond” was the codename for the 911 GT2 RS, with “Phoenix” and “Bellissima” covering the Ford GT and Lambo Centenario, respectively.
Scanning through the list, we also see mention of some of the cars our forum user TheAdmiester found. These include vehicles like the Aston Martin DB5, Fiesta GRC, and the pair of Austin Healey sports cars.
Adding to the incomplete car list theory, there are several of these missing as well. The quickest cars we found missing were the Peel P50 and the Escort XR3. This is assuming the files get the same name as the cars though.
We also see the Vauxhall Monaro VXR, which was found shortly after the initial leak. A bit of a surprise is the missing Cooper T81, which further leads us to believe this is an incomplete list.
Finally, to the dismay of many gamers, Toyota is also not on the list in any real capacity. It does have the Baja Truck and both vehicles from Arctic Trucks, but that’s it. We guess Toyota is still not keen on lending Microsoft its license. Or just about anybody, for whatever reason.
Altogether the list contains 488 different file names. Some of them are for non-playable cars and other scenery assets though. According to Microsoft, the car list upon release will total over 450 different cars. So even if there are a few missing, this is a pretty good chunk of them — that is if the list is truly real.
