You’ll Get a Boost in GT Sport if You’re On the FIA Championship’s Winning Team

When it comes to GT Sport’s FIA Online Championships, most of us don’t stand that much of a chance of winning the big prize.

To even be in with a shout, you need to already be a superstar player, and even then it’s not necessarily in your hands. A maximum of ten players from each country — or three in Europe — will qualify for the Nations Cup. Worse still, even if you’re the top player in the world in the Manufacturer Series, you won’t qualify at all if your chosen brand is outside the top 16 overall. You can see the qualification details here.

Aside from the warm glow of participation and the potential fillip to your Driver and Sportsmanship ratings, there’s been no other reward for participating in the flagship events. At least until now…

Starting from the end of the second season, Polyphony Digital is giving a “Victory Commemoration Bonus”. This takes the form of in-game credits and mileage points, giving participants a little boost.

Players qualify for the bonus if they have a PlayStation Network account registered in the country that won the Nations Cup for that season. They can also get the bonus if they have an in-game contract with the brand that won the Manufacturer Series that season. Each prize is available separately for each region.

For Season 2, that prize stands at 200,000cr and 5,000Mi. This is automatically awarded in-game when players log in, if they qualify. Polyphony has awarded it to Nations Cup players in Germany for the EMEA region, Chile in the Americas, and Hong Kong for Asia/Oceania. The prize also goes to Manufacturer Series players for Nissan in EMEA, Ferrari in the Americas and Citroen in Asia/Oceania.

Polyphony plans to award this bonus for every FIA Online Championship season in the future.
