Gran Turismo 6 Screenshot Gallery: Silverstone Circuit

A lot of Gran Turismo 6 screenshots were released at last month’s big reveal, but you might have missed these interesting aerial views of Silverstone, one of the game’s prominent new circuits.

As was hinted in GTPlanet’s Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 and KTM X-Bow gameplay videos, the circuit appears to feature dynamic lighting and weather conditions – special features which were only seen on a few select tracks in GT5.

The Silverstone Circuit was available in all three of its real-world configurations in the GT6 demo, including the “GP Circuit”, the “International Circuit”, and the “National Circuit”.

Stowe circuit – a short, 1-mile track enclosed entirely within Silverstone – is actually used to host many of the GT Academy Race Camp driving challenges. Although it can be seen in these screenshots and Polyphony Digital was seen scanning the track last year, it does not appear to be rendered in playable detail in these screenshots and was not available to drive in the demo.

Once released it will be just as popular as Spa track was. Not. I love Spa…hardly anyone online hosts or plays(drives) on that track.

Seemed to only been popular during its release after 1 month no one raced on it. Im wondering how much more popular Silverstone would be?

Spa is a way more fun track IMO

  2. sangdude82

I’m hoping that Spa & Motegi aren’t part of the 7 new tracks that will be on GT6 and better be included in the game at its launch.

  3. NicksB

So they put some 3D models into the infield, then designed an interesting course and tarmac strip into said infield…and then proceeded to make it into pixel garbage that’s inaccessible anyway? That’s ridiculous. And very sad. What i see in the infield makes me want to drive on it just as much as the track itself. Why the heck is this, in 2013, not modeled into the track to be driven on?

  4. BLADErunner80

Can feel a 6 hrs of Silverstone coming to the endurance races in GT6, with that time and weather change should be fun.

Only need 4 more circuits to have the complete WEC endurance championship.
    Bahrain.
    Interlagos.
    Shanghai.
    Circuit Of The Americas.

Plus they would add to the F1 tracks currently in the GT series.
    Fuji.
    Silverstone.
    Suzuka.
    Monaco.
    Nurburgring GP/F.
    Spa.
    Monza.

    1. ScotteDawg

You DO know that brains came free with your body when you were born, right!? You didn’t have to go out and buy them!

  5. sailworksman

Lets not put all our eggs in one basket. One course is not going to win me over. I know there are other rumors about other tracks, but there seems to be an over exposure on Silverstone. Bring more real world tracks to GT6.

    1. MeanElf

Who is putting all their eggs anywhere? ;) It’s just a report on the one track really – a GTP thing to analyse every little detail. There is also more than just a rumour about other tracks: there will be more.

    2. ScotteDawg

There are 7 locations and 19 new layouts (the layouts are not necessarily ALL from the 7 locations) and there is going to be DLC every month! Actually, there will be car DLC and track DLC, both EVERY month!!! There will be no shortage of tracks, real world or PD original…

Plus, there is going to be a NEW course maker in GT6 so if you feel something is missing, you can try your hand at making a close replica of what you want!

    3. Pit Crew

Plus Course Creator will get DLC Layouts based around Real world regions it seems. Hopefull the Track DLC will be Bundled with Real World courses and Course creator Layouts.

    4. ScotteDawg

From what I’ve seen and read about the new stuff in GT6 (and what Kaz said at Silverstone), 7 new locations (I’m guessing Andalucía’s course maker is one them) and 19 new layouts ARE coming to the game! I know that we are getting Silverstone and that has 3 layouts (in GTAcademy/demo and MAYBE Stowe Circuit as the 4th layout in the complete GT6)… We are possibly getting Willow Springs with 2 layouts and Bathurst with 1 layout (unless they also add the ‘old’ version which did not have the Chase!). Now, that’s a possible 7 out of a definite 19 layouts, the rest is pure speculation!!!

Yamauchi san also said, through his interpreter, that DLC for both cars and tracks will be “on-going, maybe monthly”.

Because of the cost of licencing, I don’t expect ALL tracks to be real circuits, so a few (hopefully free) Original tracks may also be added to the game! These would most likely be re-rendered versions of previous tracks from the GT series – Midfield, Grindelwald, Red Rock Valley, Rome Night, Opera Paris… blah, blah, blah! I don’t expect Infineon to come back, but Sonoma may make an appearance at some stage to replace it! Of the real international tracks that have been cut from previous GT games, I’d also like to see Pikes Peak make a return!!

    5. Pit Crew

^Yeah saw all that in the presentation video including the part Kaz said Track Creator would also get DLC Layouts.

We may only get 3 New courses at GT6 launch, if GT5s DLC is included in the 33 track total. 26 (Original) plus 4 (GT5 DLC) equals 30. Just a thought…

    6. MeanElf

True that it’s not exactly known if the track count will be based on GT5’s original track total or the end result. I rather think that it will be the former, so 7 new tracks which is pretty much what they said. Not sure how the DLC tracks from 5 will get into GT6 – maybe as a track pack?

  6. infamousphil

Silverstone is a welcome addition to the series, but routes 5, 7, 11 and 246 with 24hr clock would be great for some HighPerformanceStreet street racing. It shouldn’t take much time to do this because the streets have already been mapped out.

    1. Amac500

The tracks area mapped out but Toyko has got to be the hardest one to do it for because of all the buildings. Toyko’s environment is the most complex and detailed one so rending it with time change would be the hardest one to render

    2. infamousphil

Yup. But, l think R246 was probably the first one rendered because their headquartered there. All they would have to add is the lighting effects. Remember the first GT intro? The traffic light illuminating? I’ve been waiting to see that in the game play since. And then it would be nice to see live feedback on those giant trackside TV screens.

  7. BWX

So all those rendered pics are what it would look like in the game if GT6 were on a PS4 or a modern PC, but we all know that in game on a PS3 it is going to be a jaggy aliased headache machine, like in the videos of actual gameplay we already saw. Too bad GT6 wasn’t being released on the PS4.

    1. aircoreboy

Yes @Elf, on PC, since I know many sim racers that wouldn’t touch a console with a barge-pole, and traditionally, the console wars have not included the PC since it’s not a console. And I’m sure Sony could still shift many a PS4 since GT probably won’t be the only game released on it, so yeah, Sony should give us an all bells and whistles version of GT for PC.

    2. MeanElf

I think Sony won’t allow that aircoreboy. I’m familiar with the logic behind porting, but it is a Playstation exclusive, so I very much doubt GT anything will appear on the PC.

    3. aircoreboy

Fair point Elf, just wishful thinking on my part, I would love to see my favourite driving game appear on the most powerful domestic hardware, which even with the advent of PS4 will still be the PC. The support PC sims receive from the community seems to far outweigh developer support for all sims I’ve played, and I would have access to all the settings of my G27 on a PC version, I can’t think of any disadvantages. Oh well….

    4. Takedazor

I don’t understand why Polyphony and Sony keep making this mistakes. I bought GT1 to GT5, maybe i will buy GT6 but i will not buy a PS4 since GT7 will only come out like in… 2017-2018. A GT release is always a race between what will happen first, end of the world or GT release.
Is it that dificult to launch a GT with a new console, Forza 5/Xbox One easy… never owned a Xbox but i’m starting to think about it and it creeps me out.
      Someone should get fired…

  8. aircoreboy

Having raced at Silverstone in a few other sims, I may not be as excited as some, and although it’s inclusion in the GT series is great, there’s still so many good tracks that are not going to be included, which is understandable considering the effort involved to create each track. But rather than list each track I would like to see included, I’m thinking that a very comprehensive track editor with enough options to create and upload any track would be a better idea. Having seen some of the talent out there with things like Photomode and tuning shops, it would be great to see some of the track creations the GT community could come up with, given the right tools.

  9. BLADErunner80

Brands Hatch is now the only other british track that is a MUST have for GT, it would be a very popular addition particularly the Indy circuit I could see that getting lots of use in online lobbies.

After that south america is due some recognition maybe Interlagos? like Brands its completely different to the current tracks in GT5.
No point just adding famous name tracks, they need to add something that’s currently lacking.

Bathurst is also different to anything else so would like to see that if rumor’s are true.

Any other unique circuits you can think of guys?

    1. sangdude82

What about Donington Park? But yeah, Brands Hatch is one of my favourite British tracks. I reckon Red Bull Ring has a chance to come into GT6 as a DLC since PD and Red Bull Racing has a good relationship.

    2. e30 freek

Donnington is a awesome track its like 45 min from my house im hoping to take my kid in the 6 week holiday

    3. Logoncal21

Do have to say. racing on interlagos would be so sick. would be awesome if they put some brazilian cars? the VW Gol, the Fox or others. obviously they would be weak as heck, but cmon
also, PLEASE PD, NO PREMIUM/STANDARD SPLIT!

  10. karelpipa

next week the GTacademy will be in Czech republic..will try to find something.
I hope i will find the bridge version of the track as i very dont like arena (just like on Nurburgring)

  11. Sele1981

I want this game so bad… not… If the career mode and the AI is the same BS as in GT5 I wont get the game :(

Always the same, start from last place and get 1st… Where´s the challenge?

    1. Swagger897

Cars should be placed together with realistic performance based, best in front, lower class behind them, and another class behind them, and then the slowest behind them… Sorta like FIAWEC last year (LMP1, LMP2, GTE PRO, GTE AM)

But of course those four cats can be changed (per civic versus forte and so on)

    2. Logoncal21

The only thing i want from GT6 is the career mode be long. not that short like gt5. it’s not shorter than gt1 because of the lemans and nurburgring 24h

  12. JaySamurai

Not long now till E3 :) going to go nuts if they run some vids off Bathurst (Providing it is in the game) and a grid of cars racing on silverstone. Come on PD, send the PS3 off with a BANG ..

You know despite the short frustrating coming of GT5, i still cannot pull myself away from it. Other games may have better sound, more live atmosphere and seem more up to date, but there’s a quality an ingredient that comes with GT5 that i cannot find in any other game on console. I know i will be buying my copy of GT6 on day one, any improvement over GT5 is only going to be a plus for “us” ;)

This is going to be my last post until during/after E3, so share your thoughts, but keep the peaceeeeeee!!!

    1. GTHEAD87

I know exactly what you mean. I love making touring cars, rally cars etc on forza with the vinyl editor, but the physics were just crap. Gt5 has awsome physics and when you are driving round the track and the car is skipping about the road you get that sense of driving. Cant wait for gt6 only because I have 955 cars on gt5 and ruined the experience by spoiling my choices.

    2. MuoNiuLa

Please explain how Forza’s physics are crap and why GT5’s are awesome, other than “Because I said so.”

    3. infamousphil

I think he just likes GT5’s handling physics better. I do too. Maybe, you just don’t like his choice of words. But it’s his own opinion. I don’t like to use the word ‘crap’ to describe either console’s handling physics because l haven’t experienced any of these whips in the real. I did enjoy FM2 and 3 prior to GT5’s release. FM is better in a lot of ways. Wish some of Turn 10’s stuff was copied by PD. Bottom line for me is FM game play is better, GT handles and looks better. IMO ;)

    4. infamousphil

OMT, Nurburgring times for FM3 and GT5 ACR, Enzo and R34 cars were inconclusive. Some were faster than others but the cars were easiest to keep on the road in GT. Only aid used was ABS. BTW, anyone notice the differing pronunciations of the Nurb’s jump (early in the lap) and drop (later in the lap)? Flugplatz is more pronounced in GT but barely noticeable at FM. And Pflanzgarten is much smoother at GT than FM’s ‘crashing’ feel (with damage). Again, I prefer GT’s version. But which is the moreaaccurate depiction? Never been there… so IDK.

    5. GTHEAD87

They are so twitchy. Honestly I have played a lot of forza since the very first one. Ive never liked the physics in forza, any of them. As I said I only liled the vinyl editor and the menu graphics, apart from that the games aint that great. Forza has never felt right at all. Ye you get simulation physics but they dont do it much justice at all. Gran turismo is bare and all aboit driving which is what most people want. Little kids and people who dont care much about the physics are caught with the illusion of forzas high spec detail on the cars. Maybe I chose the wrong words but what I mean remains the same.

    6. GTHEAD87

And another thing, forzas nurburgring is not how it looks in real. Im mean the corners and straights are all different lengths. Forza has good physics as on rolling the car and spinning out. Forza is all about motorsport and gt is about driving. I would love the two games to clash ito ome big awesome game. They are two games that cant actually be compared as the are two games with to motives.

    7. GTHEAD87

Phil they have a comparison vid on youtube. Not sure how to share links. I have noticed the massive jump too. Carrousel is steeper in fm than gt and real. Ive never been so I also dont know for sure :/

  13. SCER

Wow they even modelled the stands. This is a proper ‘next-gen’ quality circuit. Compare it to GT5’s Grand Valley Speedway stands for instance.

  14. DITCHLINE

looks great but why dont they make it a dlc for gt5 instead produceing a whole new 60 dollar game the new cars and tracks would make a nice 14.99 dlc

    1. DYLAN777-is-not

Get a job instead of complaining about spending a bit of money. Not to mention a new game includes more than just cars and tracks…

    2. Streeto

Visual content is not the only thing they’ve updated, it wouldn’t be possible to have it as a DLC for the GT5 game engine.

Obviously with you being a crying ignoramus, it’s not surprising you don’t know that.

  15. sind3ntosca

People always whining about 2D trees… i think it’s PS3 limitation, if they make nice 3D trees and looks so real, the framerates would be bad, in GT5 or 6. But maybe ok in another game. I personally don’t really care about the 2D trees as long the lighting is nice…

I passed the trees so fast i barely notice them anyway…

I’m playing GRID 2 right now, the graphic is very nice… maybe more details than GT5 or GT6, but somehow it doesn’t look realistic… not like GT5. …My fav track in GT5 is Nurburgring when Dusk or Dawn… feels amazing with the sunrise or sunset, i never felt like that with Nurburgring in any other game :)

And the trees are still simple trees… :p

  16. mastretta_mx

It seems that this track has both, day/time transition and dynamic Weather from those pics

    1. ScotteDawg

Only the tracks in England though!
Nurburgring is based around an old ship building yard (so is Cote d’Azur),
Circuit de la Sarthe is based around an old furniture factory precinct and
Fuji, Suzuka, Tsukuba and Motegi are all based around alien landing sights!

    2. GTHEAD87

Thats interesting scotte. I also like the alien sights info. Gonna have a deeper look into them.

  17. racingRAW

Very cool track and looks really nice. We need more American road courses! Sure we have Leguna Seca… but what about Infineon which was in gt4, Mid-Ohio, Barber Motorsports Park, Road Atlanta, Road America, Watkins Glen, etc. Not that we need all of those tracks.. but one or two would be nice! I’m partial to Infineon, Barber Motorsports Park, and Watkins Glen.

    1. TheeFrogmanlego

Infineon no longer exist, I find it funny how people ask for tracks they have no knowledge of XD ,. In other news sonoma race way is waiting to be scanned! -.-

    2. Pit Crew

I spent some time at VIR in my 06 Goat. Would fit GranTurismo experience to a T.

They could just update Sonoma (Infeneon) to todays specs easily since its already in the GT database. Hopeful it could be in a GT6 future DLC.

    3. Allek

As long as they’re not ovals (please, no more ovals) I’m ok with this. Put Sebring on the list.

    4. ScotteDawg

I want Bathurst, Adelaide GP, Phillip Island, Sandown, Calder Park, Hidden Valley, Melbourne GP, Oran Park and Surfer’s Paradise! Well, I am an Australian!!

I also want Road America, Willow Springs, Watkins Glenn, Circuit of the Americas and Sonoma!

And Brands Hatch, Yas Marina, Hockenhiem and Red Bull Raceway!

NO MORE OF THESE LEFT TURN, LEFT TURN, LRFT TURN, LEFT TURN DRAG OVALS!! It’s not REAL racing…!

    5. GTHEAD87

Some hillclimb tracks would be cool. Point to point rally stages in track creator would be nice. Some rallycross would be ultra cool.

    6. MeanElf

There is a hint at Pike’s Peak being in at some point. I’m really hoping that it is. Rallycross actually might be a step in the right direction with regard to rally and the GT series. It is after all circuit based and more fun for online – just don’t expect clean racing in public lobbys.

    7. ScotteDawg

Pikes Peak was in one of the earlier GT games (can’t remember off the top of my head though) and rumour has it that ALL tracks used in the entire GT series are coming back, probably as DLC though! I seriously doubt that GT6 will come out with old tracks, even IF they have been re-rendered!!

Well, Pikes Peak makes the list of old tracks from a GT game so…

    8. MeanElf

I’m liking that rumour. I suppose that it’s entirely feasible that every track could end up arriving via DLC – that would be simply the best. And yes, before thirty burly posters jump on me to inevitably point out the advantages of remaining cynical – I do appreciate that nothing should be believed until downloaded. I am choosing to dream with my eyes open though and promise not to get upset if this doesn’t happen.

I think Pike’s Peak might well feature in a different way, especially as that RedBull Hill Climb Pug was mentioned, maybe a challenge style kind of event – okay, that’s just wishfull thinking and speculation on my part.

    9. GTHEAD87

Scotte you are the man with the info, I like. These rumours are awesome. Hope they are true :). I didnt know infineon wasnt a track no more :( I love that track.

  18. gtevolution

To be honest, the track itself looks very good, the lightning looks also more realistic than in GT5 but the trees, the track outside looks miserable like in GT5. Forza does this much better – anyway GT6 will be a bigger DLC that is my prediciton

  19. millerlite87

PD needs to add Macau Circuit, I would love to race that in GT6. Would be an awesome race online

  20. AXEofGOD

After looking at these screenshots I’m a little disappointed. It looks really rough. They should call this one
    GT5:Epilogue

  21. JaySamurai

I know i must sound like a broken record, but look how epic the grandstand pic looks!! .. Its would be great to have the option for spectator mode to view races in the stands.

Plz PD i know you like to do things your own way, but plz think outside the box. :)

    1. DYLAN777-is-not

Yes. I too had this idea. Its cool to here someone else with the same idea. When spectating a race in progress it would be epic to sit back and jump from grand stand to grand stand and watch the action. The replay view does a horrible job at showing the live action. It’s too zoomed in and low to the ground.

  22. Madertus

It looks completely dead. Nothing is happening on tracks in GT5, I hope they’ll add a bit more life to tracks in GT6. Or at least some signs of tracks being more ‘interactive’.

    1. StiggyGT

I know what you mean, but, PD would only go and add 2D crowds, that sort of ruin the experience..

    2. Madertus

@StiggyGT Exactly! Or cars on Nordschleife, like those parked near Breidscheid (the part before Bergwerk; where there’s a building very close to the track and where people online often stop) or the tollbooth. Ugly-looking boxes with disgusting textures…

@JeremiahTB you made my day :D

    3. researchALLwars

I’ll take those ugly boxes and 2D fans anyday. More life. More raceday experience. More fun. Let’s have it.

  23. Whodoyouthink

Should have shown us some race photos. It’s not quite enough to have some general press photos of an empty track. This is too much of a tease. But, I’m sure they are saving some big guns for E3.

  24. roflcoptor

No “Stowe Circuit” variation…? Are you frickin’ kidding me?! That’s an important part of Silverstone, ffs.

    1. ScotteDawg

PD were seen to scan the track! Though it was not an option in the demo, there is a chance it could turn up in the finished product.
      Just have to wait!!!
In the mean time, un-bunch your panties!

    1. ScotteDawg

      “Where’s the improvement?”

Well, for a start, this is a whole new circuit, so there is nothing in GT5 to compare it to!

    2. MeanElf

What’s wrong with waiting for the rest of them then? You seriously expect a huge difference visually between 5 and 6? I didn’t and now I’m glad that they have worked on the lighting.

But I suspect you are not going to be pleased.

    3. Slashfan

Whats a couple tracks and a few new cars that most likely no one is going to want anyways? Unless the livery and tuning is top notch I’m not getting this one.

    4. Quakebass

On PS3 there isn’t much to improve beyond what is seen with Nurburg, Sarthe, and really any tracks with time and or weather cycles – those are the well modeled, or “premium” tracks in the game. The premium cars look excellent.

There will be AT LEAST 200-300 new cars – we know of a few of them, and I don’t know about you, but I am REALLY excited for some GT3 cars. And I don’t see how you don’t see the difference in suspension modeling. When you can SEE the difference in physics. The FEEL is going to be AMAZING. And there’s supposed to be massive amounts of tuning options visually – I don’t know if this includes liveries, but we KNOW that there will be thousands of aero and (I believe) wheel options.

I honestly don’t get why people were expecting much visual improvement on a PS3 game – we’re just about as far as we can go. All that really CAN be done is optimize the engine to let it run smoothly. What SHOULD be expected is getting the lackluster content up to the standards of the “premium” content. I was deeply disappointed at how low quality Grand Valley looked. It doesn’t need time and weather, but really? Low-res 2-dimensional trees?

Again, there isn’t much improvement graphically – it’s the underpinnings and physics that’s REALLY getting revamped.

    5. MeanElf

“Whats a couple tracks and a few new cars that most likely no one is going to want anyways?” Oh deary me Slashfan…

You’re saying that Bathurst is a track that no one is likely to want? You really should get out there and read some of the other threads that aren’t fixated on livery and tuning options.

You also didn’t help the realistic tuning lobby cause very much, if all you want is livery and tuning options…and to hell with the tracks and physics. Those are pretty integral to what the livery editor and tuned cars bit is all about – otherwise it would seem you really just want a ‘Pimp my Ride’ simulator.

    6. ScotteDawg

A ‘Pimp My Ride’ simulator…? lol

Thanks MeanElf, you made my day with that!

Seriously though, if any of you dumbasses want a ‘Pimp My Ride’ sim, go buy Midnight Club or ANY NFS game! Hell, Midnight Club even has an online photo sharing thing called “Rate My Ride”! (Yeah, I played it a little bit!)

    7. MeanElf

      Glad you liked Scotte :)

Midnight Club is fun and enjoyable but you’re right, a completely different kind of game.

    8. Slashfan

Yeah I would actually like something realistic physic wise with some fun thrown in, what’s wrong with that?

    9. ScotteDawg

IMO, all other games have a “cartoon” look with the graphics. Not just the driving games, ALL other games! The closest anyone ever came to real lifelike graphics was Final Fantasy VII, and that was only in the opening movie…

Then came GT5! It was on a par with FFVII, but still had a “cartoon” feel to it, but only slightly!

Now GT6 with a new rendering model should knock the living suitcase out of every other game!!!!

    10. MeanElf

Nothing wrong with that fan of Slash – except you didn’t mention that bit, just suggested that it ‘looks’ the same.

    11. GTHEAD87

So what if it looks similar, you get cars and tracks that wearnt in gt5. I cant wait for this as it will have the upscaled cars and tracks for a cleaner experience. Excited to use the new physics to see how much they have changed.

  25. TomBrady

That shot from the grandstands really highlights how realistic the lighting is. Looks spot on.

But lets see less silverstone and more bathurst please

    1. ScotteDawg

      Hmmm, Bathurst…

Unfortunately we’re going to have to wait for either the demo or (sigh…) the full game!

Either way, I’m sure Jordan will find out details at E3 and let us know!

  26. NeuroticVows

Oh no, looking at the trees in picture Silverstone_International_06 it does look like the infamous 2D trees are back

  27. TetreRouge

As someone who goes Silverstone around 5-6 times a year I can safely say that they’ve kinda failed to capture the ‘essence’ of Silverstone here.

    1. ZoidFile

Silverstone lost its “essence” some years ago with of introduction of the Silverstone-Arena.

    2. Owen.C93

As someone who works there I think they’ve done an incredible job. If it had spectators I would be half expecting to see myself!

I really does need some spectators and motorhomes though.

    3. Tenacious D

I know what he means though. Turn 10 have their own issues, but they do a good job of making a course look gritty, dirty and abused, especially in Forza 4. Kaz seems to prefer a perfect world that’s neat and tidy. I know the blemishes of a race course change from day to day, but they need to learn how to dirty up their locations a bit, especially for GT7 on PS4.

    4. ScotteDawg

Dirty, gritty and abused? Anyone who likes a game with that ‘feel’ to it has obviously played games like COD, Mortal Kombat and things of the like… First person shooters and fighting games if you will,
What these other ‘driving’ games are doing is sucking you in to THEIR world! What they’re doing is appealing to your darker tendencies. It’s a marketing strategy they have employed to keep the money rolling in from people who have lost touch with reality! This is the main reason why I don’t play those games!!
Gran Turismo (Polyphony Digital) is appealing to those of us that appreciate REAL LIFE graphics and physics! You can see clearly, thing don’t whizz by in a blur and, though there are improvements in GT6, the handling in GT5 was still pretty darn good!!!
My up-bringing was not dirty or gritty and I was NOT abused – how was your life?

    5. TetreRouge

      @ZoidFile lol yes.

@Owen.C93 It does badly, they should have based the render on how heaving the place is during the 6 hours.

By essence I mean the overwhelming aura of misrableness that occurs when you’re in Silverstone, even when the suns out things seem a tad murky in the area somehow, it’s like “wow this track is amazing but seriously f*** this we’re still stuck in England!”

    1. CrazyBrazilian

The guy who created Minecraft still addig some spectator in all circuits like he did in GT5. Take some time, but just wait dude. :)

  28. Ingenting87

This looks really good. Cant wait to try drifting with my G25 in GT6. Hopefully drifting with wheel will feel a lot better with the new physics
How awesome would it be if we had Ebisu in GT. Always wanted to drift the different layouts at Ebisu circuit.
PD, Please do Ebisu for GT6 or GT7

  29. Magic Ayrton

No matter how frustated we are with PD regarding sound etc.. (which could quite possibly have been addressed for GT6) The level of detail that they put into these new tracks is nothing short of breathtaking.

    1. GODfreyGT5

“(which could quite possibly have been addressed for GT6)”

You say this as if it was an easy job?

    2. Magic Ayrton

I meant that they may have already taken steps toward sound improvement in GT6 and saving it for the last minute.

    3. TomBrady

@GODfrey Maybe if they did it right in the first place, it would’ve been an easy job. It’s not rocket surgery, and frankly I don’t know how they messed up this bad in the first place. It’s another example of their decisions being illogical.

Even the cars they got right, the LFA, Zonda 7.3, etc. still could be improved with simple effects you’d find in any DAW. All the cars can be improved pretty easily. It would take time but it really wouldn’t be difficult at all. All the new cars they sample should have new samples recorded with a better technique than putting mic’s super close. It makes PD’s audio engineers seem like amateurs. Either that or they want the cars to sound overly clean and lifeless with no ambient noise to speak of.

    4. ScotteDawg

      Just a thought…

GT5 came out nearly 3 years ago, right? But it took them 5 years to get the game out! That’s 8 years!!!

The demo that was presented at Silverstone the other week may have been done 2 years ago, but is only being used as a teaser – it might not even be the actual demo we’ll be getting next month! Or even the one being used for GT Academy 2013!! You may have noticed in the previous articles where Jordan has a video of the game for us to watch, that there are only 5 opponents? This is GT4 tech! It was probably carried over to help put a few things together for the GT5 demo (Prologue)! All they did was add Silverstone to it, beef up the graphics for the PS3 and present it as the demo for GT6… But is it really??

So, Godfrey, this could quite possibly have been addressed for GT6! Not an “easy” job by any stretch, but most likely already taken care of!!

    5. MeanElf

Rocket surgery Tom///mixing idioms or creating a new one? I think rocket surgery would be pretty difficult ;)

Please though guys, this has been discussed each way from Sunday and until the demo and then the game comes out, we won’t actually know. PD have said they will look at it, so could we leave this out of a news item about screenshots of a track

    6. ScotteDawg

@MeanElf, the mixing of the two idioms “It’s Not Rocket Science” and “It’s Not Brain Surgery” is actually pretty common among us warped people!
Another of my favourites is “Running Around Like A Head With It’s Chicken Cut Off”!

  30. CyborgGT

    Sooo preeetty!

Still gotta go back to playing ToCA Race Driver 3 for more epic tracks this series is missing though. Bathurst, Adelaide, Hockenheimring, Surfer’s Paradise, Zandvoort.

I’m with mickoafna, we need Costa di Amalfi back! Seattle as well, that track defined Gran Turismo for me in the early days.

    1. ScotteDawg

      Yes to all tracks mentioned!!

Adelaide has two tracks I want – Adelaide GP Circuit and the Clipsal 500 Circuit! (The Clipsal track is a shortened version of the GP track)

When the F1 GP went to Melbourne, EVERY SINGLE F1 DRIVER wanted to boycott the track because it was not as good as the Adelaide track!! I’d call that a positive endorsement for the Adelaide circuits to be used in ANY game, but I only play GT, so they should come to this game!!

Another track I’d like to see in GT6 is Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas! 3 layouts!!!

  31. StiggyGT

    Wow. o_O
I am pleased with PD’s work, as always, their rendering is extremely accurate and more realistic than anything we’ve ever seen! I just hope lots of tracks will have varied time and weather conditions… So we can re-enact more mini enduro’s.

    1. Magic Ayrton

Indeed, this is the UK we’re talking about, after all we need to have lots of rain on that track!

  32. Lewis_Hamilton_

    Looks fantastic.

I agree with the other poster though, a bit of visible track wear and it would be close to perfect.

  33. vr6cas

Silverstone looks good, I just looked at some youtube videos on some laps around here and I did’nt know how fast this track is. Nismo channel has the GTR GT3 doing laps and boy ol boy is she fast! I’m more of a technical driver/track guy so Bathurst I think is where I will be spending more time getting to know her a little better. So yea, Bathurst with the elevation changes, tight corners, the walls right next to the track, and high speed has me looking more forward to that beast of a track down under! Oh yea, and Silverstone looks like it will be a track that it might be safe to turn penaltys ON! Bathurst on the other hand if you go off the track or try to cut you will be in a wall!

    1. ScotteDawg

Re Bathurst – There is one “corner” that can be cut and that is Caltex Chase. To comply with world safety regulations (and to give it use with any race series that any other country might want to bring over here) the Chase had to put in! It is at the end of Conrod Straight just before the pit entrance. However, cutting the Chase would put you in the sand and it would take you longer to do that than take Caltex Chase because the Chase is still a very high speed run!!

The implementation of Caltex Chase was in 1987 so, if the older version goes into the game, you will definitely hit a wall if you cut a corner! But there is the possibility that either of the two tracks (or even both versions) could make it into GT6!

To those who want to know about the track, it is 6.213 km (4 miles) with 23 corners in the current layout (6.172 km (3.835 miles) with 20 corners in the original layout) with an elevation change of 174 metres (570 feet) and is one of the most feared tracks… in the world!! If you want more info, google it!

    2. ScotteDawg

Paragraph one – end of line two! I wrote “the Chase had to put in!”. It should’ve read “the Chase had to BE put in!”

      Damn, I need some sleep…..!

    1. ScotteDawg

They are bringing back Citta Di Aria! If you look at the video of “Celebrating 15 Years Of Gran Turismo”, you will see a town with sheer cliff faces and bridges and flowing water and stuff – that, I should think, is Citta Di Aria! It has been re-rendered!

Most – if not all – of the other old tracks from the entire GT series should be making a comeback, most likely as DLC though…

  34. Praggia

    Looks very very good
Clinically done as only PD can do it. I think PD shouls maybe work a little bit on making the tracks look “race worn” if that makes sense to anyone. However this track does look very good.

Oh and we need more tracks with lovely Chicanes!!!! Throwing a car left rite or visa versa through a tight chicane at speed is just awesome

    Anyone remember SSR11 ??

    1. Progress823

SSR11 = still my favorite PD circuit. Biting my nails in anticipation of its inclusion for GT6…..

    2. Magic Ayrton

Silverstone has 3 layouts that I know of, so there should be something for everyone.. great track for online racing :-)

    1. Quakebass

Too bad Grand Valley isn’t looking like this yet…

It doesn’t need day/night and weather… But it really just doesn’t look too good. I see all sorts of low-res textures EVERYWHERE.

    1. ajrichar

If Silverstone looks this good, I cannot wait to see their rendering of Mount Panorama, Bathurst. Bathurst is like a mini Nurburgring. With PD’s attention to detail, it’s going to be incredible. I just hope that it too comes with dynamic lighting and weather changes is we can race the Bathurst 12 Hour event on it.

    2. ScotteDawg

Should PD, then, not also include the V8 Supercars!? Imagine, if you will, how the race mods will be done…

Buy a Commodore (or a Falcon, Mercedes or Nissan Altima), take it to GTAuto, go to the “Race Modifications” area and you are presented with a CHOICE of mods!
The choices will be:- DRIFT –
      NASCAR l
V8 SUPERCAR > Depending on the car (there could be more)
      BTCC l
      GT GENERAL –
You enter the one you want and end up with an unpainted, blank white car (as you do now!).
Instead of painting the car, you then go to a livery editor where you are given the choice of up to 10 liveries for each car, each different depending on the make of car. For example, you will not get a choice of Ford liveries with a Holden and you can’t get Ford NASCAR liveries with a V8 Supercars modified Ford Falcon!!!
The only modified cars you can paint are the GT General cars.

This may not happen though. We might just get the cars as a finished V8 supercar as with the NASCARs in GT5! BUMMER!!!

    3. ScotteDawg

      G’day Peckerhead! lol…
Ok, this did NOT come out the way I typed it! After each of the choices there is either a -, l or >. it was supposed to look a bit like a big }…

      l
      >
      l

So, use your imagination… I think Ayrton got it though!
Thanks for your comment too Pecke.. um, Ayrton
