“Many Batches” of Additional Content Coming to Gran Turismo 5

Gran Turismo 5 Videos October 21st, 2011 by Jordan

Gran Turismo 5 took top honors in the Racing category at the 2011 Golden Joystick Awards, one of the gaming industry’s highest-profile awards ceremonies (congratulations, Polyphony Digital!).

Two Sony representatives were on-hand to accept the award, and offered up a bit of very encouraging news about the future of the game while discussing the latest Spec 2.0 update and DLC:

“[...] this is the first of many batches of new content that will be available, so people need to keep their ears to the ground as there will be more stuff coming, as well as the current upgrade.”

This is the first time anyone connected with Sony has confirmed more GT5 content will be coming beyond what’s currently on offer. The first batch of DLC, of course, brings 15 new cars and 2 new tracks, including Spa Francorchamps.

Details on exactly what’s planned for the future is still unknown. However, as you may recall, the GTPlanet community has already discovered over 25 mysterious track logos on Gran Turismo 5‘s Remote Racing website, and the puzzling Red Bull article on GT5‘s iteration of the Pikes Peak rally course remains online. While these are likely candidates for future updates, be careful to temper your expectations and assumptions, as always.

all i have to say is that the first dlc wasnt good enough in the car section but PD gave us spa and kart space. so we will have to wait till another dlc . MY biggest complain is that i took gt5 70euros here in greece the day that was realised and i paid another 11.99 euros for the dlc thats a cost of 82 euros …… that means that i ll have to pay another 20 euros to buy a psn card for the next dlc…….thats cinta off sh@@@ agree??..

I’m just keeping my fingers crossed for a Classic Track Pack or something along those lines with Midfield and hopefully Seattle. I’m still bummed Midfield wasn’t present from the get go, it’s been my favorite track since I started playing GT…maybe if it does get added in as dlc they could feature both the older and newer versions of it, turn 1 banked vs flat dual apex.

the first DLC is a little disappointment if I be honest, first there are to many Japanese cars and three karts you will never use + another Red bull, why PD why another Red bull. and we have Nissans enough in the game already.

and then there is the paint item issue I expected at least 5 paint chip pro color not one.
and why cant I give a paint chip to a friend, it’s only paint DP so fix that!!!
Its a good thing that the broad out a complete pack with it otherwise you would have overpaid for this DLC.

and please PD fix the loading en freeze game bug, since the last two updates the game wont load our freezes up, its annoying!!

I,m more than willing to pay for DLC but make it worth the money I spent on it… dont rip use off.

    I am a DLC HATER!
But you guys love DLCs, so prepare yourselves to spend more money on them than you spent on the game itself.

It’s a blow for me as I like to collect everything, but I won’t be fooled by these evil schemes. Wouldn’t it be better if GT games were to be released sooner instead?

I think GT5 saved me money. Even if I would buy €100+ worth of DLC. I normally bought like 8-10 games a year for around €60 a game. Since I’ve bought GT5 I’ve only bought 1.

you should take a look at iRacing. Yes, sure it’s a better simulation but it’s expensive if you wonna buy all the cars and tracks. So I don’t blame PD for their prices.

Instead I would like to buy more and more tracks: Bathurst Mount Panorama, Silverstone, Hockenheim, Paul Ricard, Donnington, Imola, Mosport.. etc..

lol. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of the Xbox, or Microsoft at all really. I’m just tired of Forza fans coming on GT sites and trying to start digital arguments that never end! Have you heard that they’re going to try and add Windows 8 into the next gen Xbox? I can see that console having tons of glitches and hackers!

      @PSN:And-War…
It is funny how people here ask and demand for tracks from all over the world and they don’t even know how to spell the names correctly…
It is Zandvoort and not Zandvort
It is Bathurst and not Barthurst…

Learn at least how to spell those names correctly

I was different cars. Everyone keeps saying about the Veyron etc however I did the 4 hour mita race and it was the most fun I’ve had in GT5 yet.. Don’t get me wrong fast cars are entertaining as hell especially in two player.. but its not all about power.. slower amazing handling cars are great too.. for example the RenaultSport 197/200 Clio would be a lot better than the Veyron SS just for the pure fun factor..

Am I really the only one that caught on to the fact that the Sony guy was just pulling that out of thin air?

Watch it again, he clearly has no idea what he is talking about…

I do hope more DLC is on the way but people on this site really will take the worlds smallest violin and book a concert hall for the performance.

oh and +1 on more tracks…

haha, I agree, we just get snippetts of what we really want.. but next time I will be a bit more careful because the carpack wasn’t the best apart from 125 karts and MX-5, GTR is pretty good.. I want a premium RUF by xmas then may consider more dlc.. defo more tracks though.. oh and people calling me a fanboy.. yes I am a fan, if you don’t like it go play FM4 and stop trolling GTPlaneto!.

Fan does not equal fanboy. The latter typically has no sense of reasoning.

    BEST COMMENT IVE SEEN………………

They’ve had the worst tsunami ever, followed by a severe almost full fallout… Earthquakes hitting Japan at a constant rate of around 50 to hundred different ones a day… They needed to relocate themselves for safety etc…

In my opinion, what they did in this year is actually incredible, amazing, and shows what PD means for there own fans, for themselves, a hard working company who actually listens to us…

Plus one modeler works half a year on 1 premium car on average, and 3D stuff like that takes time.
But we get is the quality finnish, i could wait another year, you know…

If they do I hope they get rid of it, because this comparison between GT and Forza Motorsport is getting ridiculous. If you have a PS3, get GT5; If you have an Xbox 360, get Forza Motorsport. And if you’re fortunate enough to have both consoles get both games!

To reiterate what a couple people said above:

Give us all the classic GT tracks back, and start updating the darn standard cars to premium. I think those two things are really key points.

I completely agree but the game is already one of the best games of all time with out any updates

i would prefer more standard cars added compared to premium cars made from current standards.

I Guess The More Ppl Who Ask For Wat Cars They Want They’ll Probably Get…Just Look At The Endurance Races Who It Possible To Save It During And Come Bak To It Later….So It Says They’re Listening….Well Thanks PD N Thanks To the Whole Gran Turismo Team.

Ok to be fair to PD coding etc does take time and before Forzaboys goes on the rampage think of where GT excels above forza. Physics for one which when you analyze the technical data does give the cpu alot of work to do.
I’m happy that they’re still working on improving the game. People as always expect too much from DLC and you cant please everyone all the time.
I would like to see more high end cars upgraded to premium ie RUF Le mans cars etc
Also more real world tracks….how bout the Millbrook test circuit featured in many Fifth gear episodes or Paul Ricard or some F1 circuits and what about that glorious Ascari race resort track?? or how bout a time trial on a challenging mountain pass ??
