“Many Batches” of Additional Content Coming to Gran Turismo 5
Gran Turismo 5 took top honors in the Racing category at the 2011 Golden Joystick Awards, one of the gaming industry’s highest-profile awards ceremonies (congratulations, Polyphony Digital!).
Two Sony representatives were on-hand to accept the award, and offered up a bit of very encouraging news about the future of the game while discussing the latest Spec 2.0 update and DLC:
“[...] this is the first of many batches of new content that will be available, so people need to keep their ears to the ground as there will be more stuff coming, as well as the current upgrade.”
This is the first time anyone connected with Sony has confirmed more GT5 content will be coming beyond what’s currently on offer. The first batch of DLC, of course, brings 15 new cars and 2 new tracks, including Spa Francorchamps.
Details on exactly what’s planned for the future is still unknown. However, as you may recall, the GTPlanet community has already discovered over 25 mysterious track logos on Gran Turismo 5‘s Remote Racing website, and the puzzling Red Bull article on GT5‘s iteration of the Pikes Peak rally course remains online. While these are likely candidates for future updates, be careful to temper your expectations and assumptions, as always.

It would be awesome if Polyphony Digital made a new Equipment DLC pack. Like, the Vettel equipment, the Ferrari 2007 equipment… etc. I really like those equipments they make. But of course, Tracks & new cars are first! :)

I feel for you guys in the US for not being able to get the latest DLC! I got it a couple of days ago!! Spa is awesome! All I’m waiting for now is more UK tracks! Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Thruxton, Donnington, Croft and Knockhill would be awesome!!! Basically take the tracks from TOCA 2 and add in a few more and I would be a very very happy man!!! :)

I’d really like to see an update with the mazdaspeed3 gen1, gen2, and maybe a race modded version like DG’s AWD version or maybe COBB’s.
Pike’s Peak had *BETTER* happen soon, one of my favorite offroad courses.

Relax, guys. I guarantee all the tracks from previous GT will be DLC. Seattle, NYC, Midfield, Red Rock, etc…I will gladly pay another $50 just to have 20 “new” tracks.

DLC yeah it cost some but I don’t mind. for me its ok. I seen some one say they wanted road cars, well I would like some real roads. I don’t know all the famous roads around the world but I know they are out there. I am sure there are some famous japanese mountain touge runs we could drift on. I know there are several famous usa roads that would be good for racing and drifting.

-Please update the game to where we can put wheels on all used cars/street cars.
-Please update GT5 to where we can have better wings and side skirts and body kits.
-Please update GT5 tracks like Monza to look like SPA track graphics. Why does MOnxa and some other tracks look like they are from GT3? Horrible elevation graphics opposed to Nur Ring Track and Spa. What is it with you people begging for DLC? Paying money to unlock something that’s already on the disc. I find that quite offending that developers do that these days, in the 15 years I’ve been playing story based games. I recall you got what you paid for. Now these days game developers leave content out, but the thing that really gets me fired up is story content that is related to the story of a game is getting left out because of people mindlessly buying the DLC. I know GT5 isn’t a story based game, and I pride Kaz on not having DLC right from that start like Forza 4. Meh, I can rant all day why this is so wrong. People that play games other than GT5, like Cod and other generic games that whore DLC content need to stop buying it. Yet again that’s like trying to find a solution to poverty; It’ll never happen.

why we want DLC is simple we want more tracks, cars, ectera…..
see it as the solution to not have to bring out a new game every 2 our 3 months, such as Ea did with the need for speed series. that game is A joke these days…
With DLC you can keep you’re game up to date en that’s in the long run cheaper then to have to buy a new game every 6 months.. -

xNeroZero has a very good point though. For some developers DLC means leaving a part out of the game at release date so you can sell it later. And to make matters worse, everyone is very happy with this.
In the case of GT5 DLC really is new content (although the cars are just altered a bit ofc). Besides that they’ve given a serious amount of free new content. -

I agree that for some developers DLC is A money machine, A new kind of cyber crime.
Something PD is not guilty of jet and i hope That PD wont fall in that snakepit to for that wil ruin there reputation among the GT fan base.
But we will see in the near future what PD will do in the battle for competition with Forza4.
From A10 whe now that the drive on DLC and for them it is A so cald mony machine.
Until now PD and KAZ seem to listen to the fans and their suggestions. we our selfs askt for DLC and updates and they given us both.
But the DLC needs improvment, why 15 cars at once, let me choose witch car Iwant. the way they do in test drive from Atari and in the Ferrari race exprience from I dont no, though there DLC is to high prized.
The same with the paint and suits an so give me freedom of choise, if there are then different paint schemes let me choose witch schemes I want. the same ther with suits and helmets.
If PD makes me pay for DLC such as cars and tracks I dont mind to pay, but please PD dont rip us of and dont fall in the greed pit And abuse DLC for more profit. as so many others do….. -

You obviously didn’t read my post all the way through, but yet again I’ll explain it to you. DLC is just a greedy way of making you pay more money for a $60 full price game that you end up paying over $100 for with all the left out content. There are certain types of DLC that are good and down right greedy. Take for example this GT5 DLC is “good” type of DLC. It’s obviously new content that the developers of this game were hesitant to put in this game at the beginning or after a couple of months of it being out on the market. My guess is GT fans pressured PD to come out with the best DLC for this game and this is what you got. The DLC that offends me as a gamer has nothing to do with GT at the present, but games that have a story involved. Take Uncharted 3, that game will probably have story DLC that will be left out or a pre-order bonus that you get this that should already be in the game. But why wouldn’t you release a whole batch of DLC? It’s the best money grabber out there after a game is released to make more and more money out of a game, that’s what PD is starting to realize. People need to wake up and realize that they’re getting ripped off from developers that purposely leave content out to make more money off people.

its a way of making money and giving us more to the game dlc are add-ons it takes time and work (coding / modeling) from a company’s point of if it were free whats the point of all that work lets see you work for free would you “no” of course not. ill buy there hard earned work if you don’t then don’t buy it.

This site is about GT5 and PD, not about every other game out there, which you talk about to much. You should complain to the companies that release these games our on sites that talk about these games. youre made youre point and we share the same feeling about DLC, but PD and Kaz jet not made them selfs guilty of greed our even did they rip us off.
and now please go back to youre story based game and RPG cave and stay there.
