Video games, at least in the beginning, are a fairly inexpensive hobby. Sure, a console will set you back a few bills, and games cost substantially more than a physical copy of a movie (I hear some people still buy those). But on a cost-per-hour basis, gaming has its advantages.

Next week, Ford of Australia will produce its very last car. The Broadmeadows assembly plant will cap off a 57-year production run of over 4.5 million sedans, wagons, utes and crossovers on October 7. Only two days ago, the Geelong facility — Australia’s oldest of its kind — wrapped up engine production after 91 years.

Gran Turismo Sport is currently playable at Japan’s biggest gaming event of the year. The 2016 Tokyo Game Show marks the first time the public has been able to play the game since Kazunori Yamauchi announced a push back to 2017. Much like previous public outings, the game will play host to a broadcasted race, featuring a combination of GT fans and professional racers.

We’re coming at you from the largest city in Saskatchewan on the second leg of the #AcrossTheHorizon tour with Xbox Canada. GTPlanet is tagging along on a portion of the trip, which started in Vancouver on Monday.

Last week, Kazunori Yamauchi took to the PlayStation Blog to announce Gran Turismo Sport would not be released in 2016. The news came as a shock to players, as the public beta scheduled to arrive early 2016 had already been cancelled to ensure the target release date was met. Yamauchi only said that the game would now be targeting the 2017 calendar year, with a more exact launch window (Q2 2016, April, etc.) not mentioned.

Assetto Corsa recently completed its roll-out on consoles, arriving in North America yesterday. One of the most impressive features of the Gran Turismo series has always been its replays. Ever since the first game way back on the original PlayStation, Polyphony has made an effort to give the replays a feeling of authenticity. Racing is fun, but GT games made watching the race after the fact entertaining in its own way.

Fanatec has just announced the latest addition in its extensive lineup of sim racing accessories: the CSL Elite wheel base and pedal set. The new model sits below the existing high-end Clubsport V2 model, but is usefully more powerful than the original V1. It is compatible with both Xbox One and PC platforms.

Players looking to get a taste of Forza Motorsport 6 will be able to do just that this weekend. Starting late last night, the 2015 title was made a part of Xbox Live’s Free Play Days initiative, allowing gamers to test drive any of the 460+ cars the game launched with back in September of last year.
