Today’s the day. It’s been a long, winding road, but Assetto Corsa is now available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Europe and the UK.

Racing game fans on the Xbox One (and 360) can look forward to another free title next month. As part of the Games With Gold program, the original Forza Horizon will be free to all players with an active XBL Gold subscription.

Assetto Corsa is arriving on consoles in two days. Some lucky individuals have already found copies in stores, while we here at GTPlanet are just beginning to get our feet wet with a pre-release copy of our own. Chatter about the game has hit a fever pitch in the staff room, so we’ve collected a small list of the five things we’re most looking forward to in Assetto Corsa’s console version. Much like the similar article for F1 2016 last week, this is in no particular order.

In case you’ve been living under a particularly large rock, a little thing known as the Olympics just wrapped up in Rio on Sunday. A testament to the capabilities of the human body, the best technology available, and the relentlessness of VISA advertising, it offers a global stage for the absolute best to compete against one another.

Arguably the biggest reveal at Gamescom in terms of GT Sport, Fishermans Ranch offers our first real look at rallying in the game. With the event now over, numerous videos have popped up, giving us a better idea of what this new track will provide players with come November.

The first week of the Forza Racing Championship wrapped up last Sunday. Players that participated in either the Elite or Open divisions were gifted prize cars, regardless of placement: the 1973 Ford Escort RS1600 and 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III, respectively.

Gamers heading to Gamescom in Cologne this week are amongst the first of the public to sample Playground Games’ latest Forza title, Horizon 3. The show-floor demo is the same one we witnessed during the game’s E3 debut in June though, leaving fans eager to see more of the game before its launch in five weeks’ time. Interviews and accompanying play-throughs have been happening behind closed doors however, and Xbox On has exclusive footage from one of these meetings.

Despite an apparent no-filming policy, short clips of GT Sport are slowly emerging from Gamescom 2016. Eagle-eyed GTPlanet member aceboy127 has spotted what appears to be a slight upgrade to the replay mode of the game.

Sony finally stopped the mystery act about Driveclub VR earlier this week when it had its official reveal on the Sony blog. The game will arrive in players’ hands before the end of 2016, with new modes and features. Naturally the new driving experience will be one of the main draws, and a new video from PlayStation Access shows off just that.

Gamescom 2016 has gotten underway today in Cologne, Germany. Forza Horizon 3 is present, and while it appears the demo on the show floor is the same one as when the game was first unveiled at E3 in June, Playground Games’ Ralph Fulton is on-site to discuss the title.

As you may have heard, Gamescom got underway earlier today. A recreation of a portion of the Nürburgring will greet gamers heading to the GT Sport section, where 15 gaming pods will be waiting. Polyphony already released a short video detailing Kazunori Yamauchi’s Nürburgring 24H experience in the run-up to the event, and have now released 78 new screenshots of the game, featuring a handful of new tidbits.

Way back in February, our Weekly Race Series team proposed a new event, known as the Triple Mix. Instead of picking one car to run a series in, participants would get to drive all three of the available rides — the GT300 versions of the Impreza, IS350, and RX-7 — over the course of the championship. Unfortunately, network issues in Gran Turismo 6 sidelined the competition for half the year. The Triple Mix lives on though, and the first race will take place August 27.

Heading into the weekend, it was Laige’s race to lose in terms of the Forza Racing Championship according to many in the community. The French driver has 7 national championships to his name in the Forza world already, after all. Saturday’s 128-driver knockout events saw Laige progress to the final race of Week 1 on Sunday, alongside the other 15 drivers that qualified:

With the doors set to open at the Koelnmesse in Cologne in only two days (three for the general public), Polyphony has revealed its plans for the event. Leading the charge is a newly-released video detailing Kazunori Yamauchi’s exploits at the Nürburgring 24H race earlier this year behind the wheel of the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3.

The Forza Racing Championship kicked off earlier this week with the 2015 Mustang GT as the first featured car. In the Elite Series, players were challenged to take their pony car around the turns of Monza in a dedicated Rivals event.

We last heard about the sales numbers of GT6 in the final days of 2015, when Polyphony revealed the 2013 title had hit 4.71 million units sold. The company updated those figures once more this week, with the full breakdown below:

With Sony recently announcing a special event in NYC next month, you’d be forgiven for thinking the company’s presence at Gamescom would be minimal. You’d be mistaken, though: the German PlayStation blog released the full list of titles Sony is bringing to Europe’s biggest gaming trade fair, and it’s quite the collection.

Buried within the press release that accompanied the launch of the Forza Racing Championship last week, Microsoft revealed some interesting numbers about the franchise’s fanbase.

Well that was fast. After rumours started circulating earlier this week about an event in New York City, Sony has gone and confirmed a PlayStation Meeting next month.
