As much as I love this race, it needs more cars in the top class, it can't come soon enough.
Other than the Iron Lynx LMDH that debuts at Sebring I dont know where any other cars will come from. That Risi will need a bag of cash delivered with it, Alpine's new car will need significant OEM brand investment to run, and for some reason Toyota has shown no interest in running in IMSA. Maybe there is a Lexus/Oreca LMDH being built in secret someplace? I doubt it

I'd hope independents can work their way in, as we've seen with Porsche this year.

#31 Cadillac leading with an hour left.
Season 3 Smiling GIF by The Simpsons

Safety car with 30 mins to go... C'mon Stig Jnr...

Heart of Racing is bringing the Aston back from the dead. Alpine has been planning on coming to the states in 2027 and IMSA has already given the go ahead, so I could see them entering to get people familiar with the brand ahead of the street car launch.

Too bad the Acura is nerfed with BOP or we could have a 3 car fight.

Very odd ending.

There was definitely time on the clock. No idea why they threw the flag 30 seconds early.

The check from Stuttgart cleared, apparently.

Congratulations Porsche Penske on winning the Daytona 23h58m!! :P

What a fantastic drive from Nasr to hold on for the win, his tyres looked like they were going off and Turn 1 in particular looked really sketchy!! Congrats too to all of the podium finishers in all classes - great to see the 296 GT3 win too :D

Fantastic race, and great to be able to watch it live and for free!!

I don't think Blomqvist was goint to catch Nasr, so congrats to Penske Porsche, well earned win...

... but still ...

****est last lap since Brumos Porsche cheated Montoya out of another win.

Thrilled Penske won but that finish was terrible.

#7 crossed the line at 3:13 left, next lap time was 1:36.630 and the checkered flag waved.

Timing says #7 ran for 23:58:24.723

:odd:
Almost exactly a lap too early. As the commentary team on imsa.tv (who were excellent) pointed out, it should have been touch and go between 2 or 3 laps, but the white flag came out early.

Maybe the timer was wearing a Bvlgari watch?

Well, it is what it is, can't argue with it.

Congratulations to Porsche for the win, Cadillac for giving a hell of a fight and Acura for participating.

This is it for me this time. Thanks for the company everyone and I'll see you again on the Nürb 24h thread in june.

Until then, bye bye and take care. :gtpflag:

Entertaining race, but a strange finish without reaching 24 hours.

From what I’ve seen, both the leading GTP cars kept up with their race pace after having the early checkered and the 31 was still second when they crossed the line again. In my book Nasr did win properly, first big 963 win, that’s good.
