Lexus RC F GT3:

From what I've seen, the Acuras have been struggling with keeping up with the Porsches and Cadillacs. That's just my thought.

Unless Ferrari wants to jump in. And isn't Ford working on a GTP?

Genesis supposed to arrive next year, and I believe Ford the year after that. Not sure if McLaren is confirmed for IMSA yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if they do. With Acura departing and Porsche possibly departing at the end of this season, that does leave room for two new teams, so who knows lol...

Shank previously had stints with Ford and Lexus. I don't see Toyota bringing the TR010 to IMSA, so I'd assume they'll either try to go with Ford or go for a customer Porsche. Longshot odds go towards a Cadillac or possibly an Aston Martin since none of the other manufacturers really want to sell to customer teams in North America at this time. Even then, it's highly unlikely (even though I'd love to be proven wrong) that even Cadillac and Aston are looking at selling to customers at this time.

Ferrari won't join because they hate IMSA :grumpy:

Hey but maybe now Toyota will join since they don't have to compete against Honda
I'm guessing they'll want to focus on making sure the GR GT3 hits the ground running next year, though I wouldn't mind being wrong in this instance.

Apparently, there's been a long-standing rumor that Ferrari wasn't interested in IMSA because the wind tunnel that IMSA uses for homologation would've allegedly required the 499P to have a much less advantageous aero package compared to what it ran in WEC previously. However, since the 499Ps 2026-spec aero package was apparently made after being re-homologated at the Windshear tunnel that IMSA uses, there might be a change of interest in IMSA in the future, since the car would ideally better fit into IMSA standards.

Honestly, I feel like Toyota would be a much more likely candidate for IMSA, but since they already dump a good amount of cash into NASCAR, as well as Formula Drift and the various off-road championships in North America, they might not be eager to spend even more cash on a new IMSA program.

In other news, the entry list...

...and BoP have been released for Laguna Seca.

All of the GTP cars (save for the Valkyrie) have lost some weight, although the 2026-spec Porsches are still the heaviest GTP cars by far. For the GTs, the Vantage has lost 41 Kilos, while the Mustangs, M4 GT3s and 911 GT3Rs have had smaller weight reductions. The 911s have also received a solid increase in Stage 1 power as well.

Has Ford said anything about when they might come to IMSA? Surely they will want to be racing on home soil soon and competing for an overall win at Daytona.

Last I heard is no full-time IMSA program before 2029, possibly a one-off appearance at Daytona 2028. All the budget for the program is tied up running two cars for WEC/Le Mans starting next year.

IMSA put the Pilot Challenge race live on Youtube today courtesy of Michelin. Hopefully one day they'll be able to do the same with the Weathertech Races without needing to play the Geoblock games and dealing with the TV networks (though let's be real, the latter will probably not happen in the States).

Im really digging all these throwback liveries.

Off topic - is Lorenzo Patrese related to Ricardo ?

34 Conquest Ferrari looks like something mechanical going wrong. Looking at the flame pattern, it may potentially be something exhaust or turbo related
