The WTR Lambo definitely came home 1st in GTD unless I've missed something post race?

Soft confirmation that Porsche is planning on staying in IMSA for 2027.

Also a well-deserved promotion for Heinrich. Dude is quick and shows no signs of getting any slower. It probably helps that he's currently beating his bosses in a year-old car.

Edit: Vasser Sullivan will also be running a 2nd GTD Pro RC-F in Detroit. Chaz Mostert will be partnered with Aaron Telitz in the #15 car for the event.

The entry list and BoP for Detroit have been published. No major shakeups in GTP in terms of cars and drivers, and in GTD Pro things are mostly normal, with the exception of the aforementioned 2nd Vasser Sullivan Lexus.

In terms of BoP, though, both specs of the 963 have gotten another weight increase, with the '25 car gaining an additional 30 kg, while the factory '26 spec cars gaining 16 Kg, putting the total weight of both cars at 1082 kg and 1100 kg, respectively. Additionally, both of the factory BMWs lose 12kgs of weight, bringing them to the minimum 1030 kg weight limit, but lose some Stage 2 Power, while the Acura and Cadillac both lose 5 kg.

In GTD Pro, every car but the Lexus and Temerario will gain weight, while those 2 models will keep the weight that they ran at Laguna Seca. A variety of changes in Stage 1 & 2 power outputs have also been made, including the first power adjustment this year for the Temerario since it's inital homologation.

Of particular interest, the Mustang GT3 will be the only GT3 running at 100% of Stage 1 Power, while also having the lowest weight in GTD Pro.

Cadillac front row lockout in GTP and Corvette 1-2 in GTD in the shadow of the GM Reconnaissance center.

Surprise Omg GIF

Belle Island was so much better than this place but GM and Roger picked it so...

Not even half a lap in and the #60 Acura already has significant body damage.

Edit: Aaand first FCY of the race.

I saw smoke on a Porsche too, it may have lose something out of its rear.
Yup, just saw it. The #6 car has some front-right body damage.

Edit: Looks like there's a huge plume of black smoke coming from that car under braking, too.

Well, I was getting ready to post about this being a very tame IMSA Detroit round...and then the last 10 minutes happened.

1st & 3rd for Cadillac, including a long-awaited win for AXR! Podium for BMW in GTP after winning at Spa! The Temerario earns its first global podium with Pfaff Motorsport in GTP Pro!

That was a nice race !

Happy for Lamborghini Temerario's first podium, they played well the waiting thing.
I didn't expect to see Porsche so competitive in GTP.

3 moves over on the 14 for the lead, 14 gets the penalty. 4 moves over on the 15 for 2nd, 4 gets the penalty. :boggled:
I need to see a replay of the first incident again, because based on what I saw on the broadcast, it looked like the #14 rammed into the back of the #3 right as the #3 was turning into the corner.

For the 2nd incident, the #4 moved in the braking zone in response to the #15 being on the inside. That one was pretty slam-dunk, imo.

14 went left and then 3 tried to close the door.

I only caught the last 40 minutes of the race but that was pretty entertaining. Super thrilled that BMW and Lamborghini got P 2 in their respective classes.

Cant wait for Mid Ohio next weekend.

Maybe it's just my Aussie bias but I thought that was pretty amateur from Catsburg. Was really hoping for Mostert to snag a podium. 😅

I didn't know there was a race scheduled at Mid-Ohio next week. I don't remember seeing it on the calendar at the beginning of this season.

The circuit is rubbish. Isn't there anywhere else they could race?
Other than Belle Isle, not really- at least if only referring to the Detroit area. The M1 Concourse probably can't handle the crowds and MIS doesn't have a road course worth squat. GingerMan is on the West side of the state and doesn't have the infrastructure to handle the crowds either.

The real sad thing is that a lot of the complainers that got them to move the race downtown don't even visit the park after they did move the race. Those people stated that they would visit if the race was moved, never did, and then screwed the race.
