Hi all, I know there have been many complaints about grass lately, but I haven't seen this one. It's driving me crazy - the car's shadows are rendered in front of the grass at certain distances. It's most noticeable in replay cams. Especially combined with that silly bug where the grass gets super big (anyone figure that one out yet??). I messed with grassFX settings to no avail.

Anyone else?

why do you use PorscheAO.dds to change the color? you break the ao, you have to use metal_detail_1.dds

you need to redo the car's ao with CM because it's not in transparent mode and this prevents the color in metal_detail_1.dds from being displayed.

Edit: simply redo the ao with CM and copy it in place of your PorscheAO.dds file for each skin to have a working ao.
Thanks , it was a quick and dirty way, and I didn't think it would matter much, but comparing it it looks better indeed !

Updated the skins package (same download link) also changed some of the interior colors while I was at it...

Hi guys, there used to be a guy called "JawnKwan" who did a lot of skins for the GTC60 and WSC Legend car. Sadly all these skins are no longer available on RD/Overtake. Does somebody still have these skin packs and might be willing to share them? Thanx in advance. Daniel

Since i'm bored, i'm going back over one of the very first track skins I tried to make. Still one of my favorite tracks to run vintage cars on. Unfortunately this is for the old version of the track. Sergio re-made all his materials on his new version and it renders my track skin mod useless. I tried to work with the new one, but it was getting frustrating so I went back to the old version of the track.

Swapped out all my original tree textures, grass textures and made new vao patches to get rid of the really dark\black shadow areas at the base of a lot of trees. I'm not thrilled with the summer time grass. Can't place my finger on what's wrong with it, just know i'm not happy with it yet. And as usual, I had to make seasonal looking trees. Just can't drive without them anymore.

That name vaguely reminds me of something. Wasn't it the guy who was stealing @Pasta2000 liveries or Am I confusing with someone else ?

And why no one ever made skins for the Formula Junior Mallock?
All that Jidè shenanigans and no skins for this parallelepiped wonder.

And why Pyyer extensions are still butchering Fenryr tracks?

So many questions.

Contrary to my earlier claim, I’ve figured out Blender well enough to get Londrina Kart 1 working: hotlap, pits, start boxes and timing sectors all working. Some work to do on AI, cameras, and the other layouts and I’ll upload it here (just the added files) - best case in 24 hours, but more likely next weekend.
Screenshot_psc_birel_iame_x30_senior_vhe_londrina_square.jpg

All three layouts now done, with hotlap start, grid and pit boxes, and timing markers.

I have not had any joy getting AI candidate files to generate/save, so this first version (0.1) is missing AI and working cameras (and maps/outlines). If anyone wants to have a go at generating AI, I will gladly add them to the pack, and will then generate some working camera sets for a 1.0 version.

Londrina Kart Layouts available here on GTPlanet. @VheEth 's original circuit required.

So a question regarding options for body panels in CM Showroom. How do you get the animations to appear as options in the CM showroom? And if you want people to be able to race with those options I presume they have to be options in the setup of the car?

And is it right to presume that each "click" of a wing is 1 frame of animation in Blender?

Nice. I've driven a S4 automatic. Amazing cars.

GTS is the goat 928. Is there a standard version with all original Cup2 wheels, etc?
I know of this GTS, not sure about the wheels though. I like the interior and the handling of this mod, but the exterior seems rather fuzzy to me, and I don't think the V8 sounds right for this car, but you might know better. I think the Real Specs GT might sound more like a 928 V8..? I just don't really like all the reverb effect on it near barriers, etc. But it's probably not hard to edit that value.

I don't think many of you have heard about the Luppa79 Pyynikki track here. It's a pretty wild experience :

Anyway, maybe it's on my side, but there was only automatic sidelines and any ai car with slippery habits ended up in one of the numerous trees during the racing process. I made a new fastlane and safer sidelines, i'm clearly not super good at it yet, you'll tell me. I suggest you run a few laps using Luppa's ones first, see how fast and reliable it goes, and in case you 're met with too many issues, here's my version:

It needs improvments especially on the hairpins (i'm sure someone better at this will take the crown soon), but using the Datsun Fairlady against the Honda S800 i still had a damn good time.

Also, i have to ask : are you guys still able to share CSP links? I can't anymore, and i trully wonder if it's another "just me" issue.

@racinjoe013 if you become bored again ;) could you please try to have a look and check the foliage of this great track? A lot of trees would need some proper treatment by some expert. :)

In my search for a 4-stroke 2 cylinder engine sound I find the KS Abarth 595 SS sound would be perfect but it doesn't reach the necessary RPMs. Is there a reasonably easy way to extend the rpm range of the engine sound (it currently cuts out at 6000 I think...)?

Getting there! ('64 Prinz 4L 600) Now at spec size and wheelbase. To do: redo tail lights, change rollcage, change back window, switch to steels, finish smoothing & mapping, find a sound... (hardly anything left ;) )

Luppa79 stated that he was aware of some of the scenery issues on Overtake, and working on fixing them (said he was on a break before coming back to Assetto as far as i remember). I tried to reach to him while doing the vid.

It might be worth having him joining the thread🙂, just to see if he updated the track further, or if you guys can work it out teamwork style.

Maybe Luppa would love getting some feedback as well, i have a strong feeling a lots of modders never hear about issues until they pop up with proper technical data on this thread

It really is a fantastic track for small cars so I made a few adjustments to make it more to my liking which I have added to the GTP downloads. You can try it out until Luppa79 makes the update.

All 928's are V8.

Post facelift:

S4 V8 319 hp automatic/manual
GT is pretty much the same car as S4 but always manual + 10 hp more
GTS was 348 hp and wider rear fenders, Porsche rear reflector and came with both automatic and manual

S4 left, GTS right.

As far as i am aware there is no way you can extend the exisiting sound easily

the only way around it would be to lower the engine limiter to match the sound

maybe someone else knows more.....

EDIT: they did know more than me............you learn something new everyday

Since we were talking about the 928... You can buy them for 20K.... sure... but very difficult to restore a bad one. The good examples of GTS are now demanding over 100K... they're almost air cooled 964/993 prices... but you can buy a high mileage S4 or GT for 25.000 euros. But it can have numerous very expensive issues. Not because it's a bad car but because it got very cheap at some point and the cars went to wrong owners who negleted them. That never happened with 911 because they were never cheap.

928 was actually the top model of Porsche. It was kinda predecessor of the Panamera... just much smaller, lighter and sportier. Only 911 Turbo was more expensive. 348 hp on GTS doesn't sound that much now but in the 90's it was enormously powerful. Top speed 270 km/h. Air cooled 911's are very simple cars (even the last 90's ones) as their foundation comes from the 1960's... 911 got updates but it was basically always the same car until the water cooled 996 came. 928 is completely different animal. It was "overbuilt". Here's a great video... it's a fascinating car. Well worth watching.

Always liked the 928. It's another one of those timeless designs that'll never look dated. Came very close to buying one many years ago. Still regret not biting.
