Just to try to add something to this, blender can't open ascii fbx files so make sure any exported fbx from other softwares is saved as a binary fbx and not an ascii one or blender won't be able to open it.

ahh. OK. didnt realise you are working in ascii? what program in 2021 is still making ascii FBX?

if you are stuck on file saved in the legacy format you can use Paint3d to convert them quickly, right click the ascii fbx, hit "edit with paint3d" then save the FBX from paint3d. (assumes you have an up to date windows10)

Who will help with the GMA T.50? I bought from Hum3D and I'm trying to get it to AC somehow.

I'm not an expert on formats, I'm in development, since exporting from 3dsimed also results in this format I tried, and yes have win10 updated.

I dont think there is a "correct way", but, there is a bug/limitation in kseditor wherein it "forgets" some shader settings, typically the transparency/alpha settings get lost for me. think its related to it not writing them to the fbx.ini correctly.

What I do is first open the last kn5 in 3dsimed, export to fbx (on my system its binary) tick export fbx.ini, then i copy out that fbx.ini to a safe location.
DO my edits I need in Blender, save the FBX and open in Kseditor, (immediately you will notice the issue with the tranprencies getting lost), in KSeditorAT i go to "load persistance file" and load the safe fbx.ini and all is good with the world. The issue is quite well known with kseditor and we all live in hope ilja will update kseditorat to remember these shaders at some point.

the other way around this and sometimes a simper workflow for me, is i open the kn5 in 3dsimed, export it to fbx, and keep 3dsimed open, then work on the track in Blnder/3dcoat/rhino etc and when I am done, save out only my changes to fbx. Back in 3dsimed i delte the changed objects, then simply reimport the new changed fbx's, the materials are still defined in 3dsimed so they still work properly. compile the kn5 from there.



edit: just popped into my 3dsimed and noticed there is an option to switch between binary and ascii, i set this up ages ago so typically i just click the menu through and didnt really notice that till now, make sure you set binary.

Hi all, I done a search on how to adjust the the brightness of the cars headlights but I've come up short.
I was driving the Ferrari 355 challenge at night and the throw is very dim and the headlights only light up the road about 2 meters in front of you.
Is there an ini file that I can adjust to make things brighter.

You can adjust the brightness of car lights using Blamer's great app called BLM Lights (requires CSP to work):

Soldat Raggio from Ridge Racer. Basically almost entirely scratch made (because the original 3D model isn't up to scratch), with performance as close as possible to the original car while making it believable for a sim. The author also manages to include a rocket start feature using KERS :crazy:

They're trying to port a few more cars and even some RR tracks. Reading the readme, their discord is called "Trackside 765" but I can't find it via google. I know one of the members is a member on GTP who used to do lots of hybrid modding in GT2, but hasn't been active since 2018. If anyone is interested in helping them out, get in touch!

dang.. finally managed to get a model out of forzastudio, but, cannot associate the texture to it properly now, some works and some just turn parts invisible.

Attached what I have so far to this post. (FBX and the texture file)

I didn't think about that app for lights. I use it to adjust my mirrors which is brilliant. I'll look at it straight away. 👍

HELP NEEDED

Anyone have a fix for Legion - Avus 91 v270221 pitlane or side? The car won't leave the pit, the ai drives into wall.


I've updated the whole track with EXT_CONFIG + VAO + Cams but if AI won't work fine, is useless :-/

Hadn't noticed that I'll take a look, any particular mod?

Thanks for the update guys, but why did you removed the tracks lights from Daytona? It looked so good with all the iluminated lamp posts in the distance! :(
 
yo.. @RMi_wood you know you want to do these.... got the fbx converted versions if its a thing you need but easy to do, Blender>>install xna importer>>import. There are a lso a TONNE of really nice 3dmodels, cars, trackside objects etc.

Sticking with tracks for now, I think I might have some of those models as well. Im going through all the games and 3d models I've pulled currently.You can toss any tracks or environments you find my way.
Expect more oddball, showroom (and photometric showrooms), 'toon and other tracks to put those cars in.

@browser might be interested in doing those :)
