I know. The "Mustang" Mach-E is a common sight around here, along with a s***load of Teslas, so I didn't even think of it when I saw the new "Capri" commercial.

Norway has insane taxes on new cars, but electric cars are completly exempt from these taxes, making them artificially cheap compared to petrol/diesel cars. Or the other way around, depending on how you see it.

In 2024, 89% of all new private cars sold in Norway were fully electric, and so far in 2025 the number is 96%.

Heck, I even drive a BMW i3 myself, but at least that's an honest and partly successful attempt of creating something new and fresh. And it's mostly plastic and carbon fibre, so it doesn't even rust, which is a very common problem when driving on salted roads half the year. But then again, it will get stuck in 10 cm of snow, on flat ground...

So luckily we also have a Skoda Octavia 1.8T 4x4, which rusts like hell and smells like petrol all the time, just like a real car should.

Sadly, when our kids grow up, the only place we will be able to drive a smelly, noisy petrol car is in our simulators. I'm going to install a petrol-and-exhaust-smell emitter in my rig pretty soon. Or perhaps just soak the carpet in petrol and let it dry out, the smell will never go away, trust me.
You dont have winter tire in Norway? Over here its mandatory :scared:

A question for you modders out there. On the car page, just below Notes & Total Driven, most of the cars show speed achieved, but on a few its missing. How do I add this?

In South Africa people say "but it's a Yaris, I don't want a Yaris" or "but it's a Corolla, that's too much for a Corolla". They don't care about the extra performance.
And they are right, these kind of roadcars were already pricey in 2020, then DCT, AWD and the +300hp target ruined the little fun left.

Check the file name of the car, make sure there's max 32 (or 30 ?) characters allowed (punctuation marks included) and NO uppercase letters.
If that is OK you should see all the info you want.
Sadly a lot of modders don't know or just don't care.
Changing uppercase to lowercase is a no brainer, but if the name is too long, you just can't remove a few, because the mod won't work anymore.
Only thing left is changing the name, which is not difficult but needs quite some actions renaming kn5, sfx (bank and all affected lines in the GUIDs.txt)

This is a reworking (and renaming) of the much-loved fictional track by Sneer, Gentrack 1, which was one of the very first mod tracks produced for Assetto Corsa.
Requires CSP. Installs as a new track to preserve the original.
Some files have been included from previous Mike08 and DaBaeda updates.

v2.0 by Mascot, shin956, Nukedrop, mteam:
  • Location set to Genoa, Italy with appropriate geotags. Circuit renamed to Genoatrack Uno.
  • GrassFX and RainFX configs added. CSP flags added with new textures.
  • Fixed tree normals. New tree and treewall textures, aspect ratios corrected, existing foliage artefacts fixed.
  • New 3D mountains and terrain, based on the local environment.
  • New adboard, sign and distance marker textures, including Genoatrack Uno track branding for the start/finish gantry.
  • Various rock and fence fixes. Overhead cables thinned.
  • New active airspace additions (rename individual kn5s to remove any assets, if preferred).
  • Cam-facing crowds and flag-waving spectators added, with some Italian flag updates. Knicker97 crowd textures used.
  • Animated wind turbines added.
  • New road/groove/skidmark textures. Pit boxes fixed. New AI.
  • Various other tweaks and fixes.

Huge thanks to everybody involved, especially Sneer for the original track.

I have been thinking about this as well...

For full immersion I really want to smell the old cars (the fantastic WSC / AC legends for example), the smell of the 60's... parfum de voiture...

Some oil and petrol sprinkled around the rig should do the trick. Now only to find something that smells like brake & clutch.

Any ideas?

We do of course have mandatory winter tyres, studded tyres are common here in rural areas, but it doesn't help much when the only tyres available for the i3 are studless M+S bicycle tyres (155/70-R19) and the oil sump is resting on snow, lifting the wheels off the ground... :banghead:

Start with spraying a 5 litre can of petrol in your room and at your body. Please avoid fire. 🔥
You could also connect a tube to the exhaust pipe of your car leading it into your sim race room. Close all windows and doors to make the effect of exhaust gas effect better, start your car and enjoy the smell, while racing. 💨

In this race series we are using professional stunt performers, please do not try this methods at home without a psychiatrist . No animals were been harmed during this race

Well, hello you sexy Gentrack thing, welcome back to my HD.
Can I offer you some GT1 madness?
Don't move, I'll put up some Marvin Gaye in the meanwhile.

Yesterday I was racing the Kunos Ford GT40 @ Riverside with just one friend, we both love those vintage beasts and damn i have forgotten how that car is pure joy, fun, fear and petrol all mixed together. It´s a really great combo for that sort of vibes. With the massive ammount of mods sometimes we leave great original content at dust. Just grab some gruesome soundmod and get ready to catch some tails lol. The RSS Formula 70 is also underappreciated IMO.

lol, now that i got what you were talking about. What about getting some old, "stinking" truck brake lining and leave it close to your cockpit? :)

Anyone been keeping tabs on this?

Seems like this Portuguese guy is going hard on trying to update Mitja Bonca's old Estoril project - which got a "definitive" v. 1.07 from the usual GTP suspects around here a few years ago. A flurry of version changes for this new project over the past few months.

The updates look enticing, but trying to update it from even the base Mitja track looks to be a pain - and I've just confirmed is impossible with the GTP "estoril_21" build. He is trying to incorporate quite a few things from that GTP version as well - with apparently mixed results.

If 1.07 is still in the dusty end of the file cabinets of those usual suspects, it may be worth taking a look - and possibly reaching out to this guy to see if his work being folded into estoril_21 might be worth it. The screenshots and changelogs indicate major overhauls.

Obviously, Mitja's work is older, but his Twin Ring Motegi is still one of my favorite AC tracks to this day, and is right on the money with the real-life onboards and lap times. A definitive, even more modern Estoril would be a nice piece to have in the library.

I tried, but gave up. Maybe it's me, but this is a total mess.
I downloaded the track he uses from his link (AC Club), then I wanted to follow his 'instructions':
'''''
● Before installing this skin pack make sure you delete the following files to make a clean installation without any bugs:

Extension folder
Skin folder
landscape.kn5
structure.kn5
porsche_3d_logo.kn5 '''''

In that freshly downloaded track there's a skin folder, but it's empty
I can't find any of the kn5's he mentioned and there's no extension folder either...
That dwarf lollypop pitman was already in Mitja's old (original) version, so this guy seems to have missed that...

So I ditched it, saves me some time...
I already have an excellent Estoril_2021 anyway (v 1.07 from Nuno Lourenço,Mitja Bonca,Edit 101creative) and another estoril version 1.3 from Mitja Bonca, update SilvAfonso, Pestana58, slider666.
+ a few other classic versions...

Nevermind. I have been confusing Cathedral Rock with Castle Rock/Continental Divide (which doesn't exist, but I hear it's on Sergio's list :) )

Yep, several uppercase letters in the car filenames. Changed them to lowercase and speed achieved info now showing. Thank you.

Nice work Mascot, shin956, Nukedrop, mteam. You really brought this back to life. Thanks!

P.S. Sorry mods. I didn't expect I would inadvertently end up with two posts in a row.

I never quite know how to swap easily between Pure and default weather without getting 'weather controller' error messages and planet earth spiralling into the sun.
After changing weather, go to "Drive" and reselect your controller.

@Peter Boese
BTW:
I actually use the old SOL 2.5 contoller as it seems to work and suits my track modding needs (testing rain/wetness).
No issues using it. Maybe I will switch to the PURE version someday, I just like the easy access to the weather sliders.

Hello! Pardon my English. I would like to know what is causing this anomaly every time the vehicle crashes? Thanks.

I’ve recently added the full csp to get rain working in assetto also now using pure as well, I’ve done the integrity check on my assetto via steam, I’ve been mainly testing the rain with the new simdream 1997 mod which all works fine but I’m unsure if I should be using the extended physics or not, before I did the integrity check I could have it on or off and when I set the weather to rain all the cars would start with wet tyres etc after doing the integrity check i don’t get wet tyres as an option under garage and all ai are the same, I now have to have extended physics turned on for the cars and ai to show and give you the option to use wet tyres so is it fine to just have this turned on all the time?

Thanks

hi all, is there a way to have the time progression in AC set to 0 by default (on offline races) ?

(reason I ask is the shadows that progress each second are really immersion breaking. I would rather just have them not move or move seamlessly over time, but not like stop-motion if you know what I mean)
