Hey,Hi Paintbox, Was wondering if you could help me add wipers to the Hilman please. Is it just a case of putting your file in the vehicle folder somewhere.
Many thanks
Greame
Very nice indeed! But the hotlap layout will often give 00:00.001 laptimes.Top Gear Dunsfold (FM7) - v1.01

Description:
This is a representation of the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold, UK as it is circa 2024+
It is still used today, for driver experiences, filming, etc and as a private track.
This virtual version brings not only the classic figure eight hotlap, but also a layout to race on the eight (beware chaos!),
as well a 3.6km layout using the full runway (thats a 1.5km flat run kiddos). and a few more!
Layouts:
- Hotlap classsic solo 1pit + hotlap start (practice or hotlap only)
- Top Race is the classic figure of eight for solo and multiplayer (beware of extreme head-on chaos in longer races)
- Top Loop is a new layout that continues straight after turn 1
- Top Speed is new using the full length runway (also in reverse and great supercar fun)
Features:
- Classic Hotlap for solo runs
- 4 Layouts complete with AI and 13 to 20 gridspots depending on layout
- 5 cameras per layout
- RainFX, GrassFX, lighting, etc = CSP is required
Credits:
- Original model by Turn10, converted to Assetto Corsa by @RMi_wood
- skids, groove and other help by @leBluem
- road PBR texture by @tyrone/Nukedrop
- objects and AI for Top Race layout by @mteam
- beta testing by those above and @shi and @macko68

Hey,
Unzip the download and you should find a file called ext_config.ini
Open the car folder within your Assetto install, open the folder called Extension then you should see a file with the same name as the one in the download. You can either replace with mine or open these files in notepad and copy paste the section about animated wipers into yours.?
I've had trash CPU performance when AI racing with the new RSS and VRC cars for the past 6 months. Huge stutters/frame time spikes and CPU drops for seemingly no reason.Anyone else get horrendous performance with 20 cars on track? Never had this before. Maybe due to latest CSP version?
When I'm alone on track no issues at all..
If you don't have the folder just create it and move my file to that location.hi @Paintbox , I tried but it did not work. I did not have a file of that name already in the folder. Is there something else I need to do? Should it not be an animation file for wipers?
regards
same here.I've had trash CPU performance when AI racing with the new RSS and VRC cars for the past 6 months. Huge stutters/frame time spikes and CPU drops for seemingly no reason.
Older cars from RSS/URD/VRC, even ones with recent-ish CSP requirements like the URD Radical SR3 the RSS GT1 pack (both updated and targeting ~0.2.3, I think) run absolutely fine in a 20 car field and as they have for many years (9900K 5 GHz).
I'd wager there's some wacky unoptimized CSP physics experiment going haywire with new cars tailored for it - that, or the modding teams have gotten extremely LUA-happy inside the car without any consideration to CPU performance. The dangers of an open platform.
No idea if it will improve - but I've had to earmark racing the new RSS GTs and VRC protos for my next computer a year or two from now. I can hotlap to try them out - but any decent-sized field, AI or human, really affects the smoothness of the game.
A shame.

Thanks again, I will try again when I get home. Yes CSP installed , love driving these in the rain but have found that a lot of the cars do not have wipers. Did you happen to make wipers for other cars in this tc legends pack?If you don't have the folder just create it and move my file to that location.
assettocorsa\content\cars\tc_legends_hillman_imp\extension
Its just an extension file for Custom Shaders Patch to do the animating. Do you have CSP installed?
Is it because of the figure-8-layout? I've had other versions of this track with the same issue.sometimes yes, restart the session
With encrypted cars you can try to enable "Use CSP for final previews render" option under CM/ Settings/Content Manager/Custom Showroom/Previews".Was just about to post that the first time I applied a CSP preview to the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano by LaMorte, it was all blue crystals and hanging off the side of the screen. I just hit the 'update previews' button a second time and the car is now centred and rendered properly.

It seems CM sometimes struggles to resolve the code the first time, but gets there in the end.
If anyone gets janky results with certain cars, just try another pass.
Edit: HA! One skin at a time is OK but I tried updating all of the Fiorano skins in one go and got this:

So yeah... something isn't quite right somewhere.
Edit: restarting CM seems to fix things... until they bork themselves again. Rinse/repeat.
Thank you so much for your work on the 155, do you plan on doing skins for the cars than ran in JTCC?1997 ADAC Super Tourenwagon skin
to install: drag and drop or install manually 4k only witrh AO only thanks to @CrisT86 for finding a sticker for mewww.gtplanet.net

Its funny you mention that as i did find some pictures of one Alfa 155 in the JTCC, the only issue is i need someone from the land of the rising sun to send me some japanese characters as i have no idea how to make themThank you so much for your work on the 155, do you plan on doing skins for the cars than ran in JTCC?
Its possible there is a fix, I kind of know why. Try restarting the session before setting off on the first try for now.Is it because of the figure-8-layout? I've had other versions of this track with the same issue.
Not a big problem, but it s@@@@s up the hotlap track records every time a bogus lap is registered.
LUA, or overuse of PBR, or ridiculously long ext configs, or the new (largely trash) physics, or new AI algorithms... or more memory leaks in CSP's spaghetti code. Who knows. It's bloody frustrating though.I've had trash CPU performance when AI racing with the new RSS and VRC cars for the past 6 months. anyone from Japan able to send me over these characters so i can do this skin?

Thankyou very much, nice to know the meaning aswell"がんばろう神戸"
(Ga n ba ro u Kobe)
This meaning is "Let's do our best Kobe"

I don't think it's due to my PC specs.LUA, or overuse of PBR, or ridiculously long ext configs, or the new (largely trash) physics, or new AI algorithms... or more memory leaks in CSP's spaghetti code. Who knows. It's bloody frustrating though.
I think it's definitely a CPU (as opposed to GPU) issue though. I have to ensure that my PC (GeForce RTX 4080 with i9-13900KF, so not tip-top but certainly no slouch) is not running ANY background tasks, and that I've not accessed YouTube while having CM started. Even streaming radio to my surround system while playing Assetto Corsa seems to be enough to tank the framerate. The only thing that works is a fresh restart of the PC and ONLY use CM/CSP (and any associated necessary things like Sim Commander) in that session. It never used to be this way though.
IMO it's the sound. AC is badly optimized for over 512 channels, some of the new cars have over 100 channels each. When the limit is reached AC starts throttling.I don't think it's due to my PC specs.
So it's definitely something in CSP and/or mods itself.
Tthe best cars in Sim Racing (aforementioned RSS GT1 pack, URD Radical SR3, AMS2 Brazilian Stock Cars, Fuzo Touring Cars, VRC 90's Prototypes, WSC Legends Pack, VRC LMP1s off the top of my head) all were made 5+ years ago now and run buttery smooth.Maybe thats the price you pay for progress and the best cars in sim racing .
