Talking about the new URD EGT pack, does anyone know if the OverTake-RaceDepartment skins still works fine with the newer version of the pack or they are broken? I don't want to write over 30gb of skins for nothing on my SSD in order to test it out. Thanks in advance
All the skins works except for the Aston GTE and the Ferrari 488 as those are brand new models. The rest was just updated and had some refreshes.

Really nice to finally have this car in good shape in AC.
I did a few tweaks if anyone wants them:

New dealer plate and normal map (drop them into individual skin folders, or replace them globally in CM Showroom) to fix the squashed aspect ratio and put everything on a black background.

Original:

New:

New driver position for better hand/wheel interaction.
New shifting animation, looks more natural to me in VR, less robotic. Keep the original if you prefer it.
(remove the .txt extensions and put in the car's 'animation' folder after backing up the originals)

Fixed sunlight leakage around dashboard seams (add the following to the end of the config):

Code:
;stop sun ingress around cockpit mesh seams, into footwells etc
[SHADER_REPLACEMENT_...]
ACTIVE = 1
MATERIALS = bump_leather, bump_plastic, Car_Paint, Black_Plastic, plastic, black, chrome
CULL_MODE = DOUBLESIDED
CAST_SHADOWS = 1
DOUBLE_FACE_SHADOW_BIASED = 1

edit: dealer plate and NM added. Again, remove the .txt extensions.
Where shoud I copy dds? To each skin folder?

To replace textures globally on a car, what I do first is add them to the first skin folder (to make finding them easier, but also initially as a test to check how they look).
Then enter CM showroom.
So for this exercise:
1. Click on the texture (in this case the rear dealer plate).
2. Click the three little dots to the right of txDetail:
3. Select 'Replace' from the pop-up menu
4. Navigate to the skin folder where you put the new textures (you might already be in it)
5. Click the texture you want to replace it with.
Repeat for the normal map by clicking the three little dots next to txNormalDetail: and repeat steps 3, 4 & 5

This should update those textures for the actual car itself, not the individual skins, so you can then delete the new textures from whatever skin folder you put them in.
Could this texture changes cause trouble with online races?

Well URD and RSS seem determined to step on eachother's toes as much as possible now so that just leaves VRC. Also being that the Acura doesn't run outside of IMSA, there is probably less interest for it globally. Still, glad to see RSS is doing a Lambo so at least that car won't be totally excluded from having a good mod like the Vanwall was. The ACF LMU port is nice but I wish somebody would do a data replacement for it like the ones that exist on Overtake for the Valkyrie and ARX-06.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you essentially car clone the Alpine (as it shares the same chassis as the Acura), rename the clone Acura and then create IMSA correct skins for it.... Then just fiddle with the aero figures/car weight/engine power to balance it out compared to the competition?

Wheels are done, and headlights are currently being worked on. We’re also looking into the option of adding the alternative headlights that Saleen used during the '98 Sebring 12 Hours.

This thing is going to look wicked on track. By the way, if anyone knows more about this car, send me a DM. We’re trying to gather as much info as possible different aero setups and more. But most importantly, we’re looking for the series it ran in. We’ve got a pretty solid grasp on Le Mans, ALMS, and British GT, but just last week we found out it also raced in the 2000s Spanish GT series. So if there are any images or info about it racing elsewhere around the world, we’d love to see it.

As mentioned, send me a DM if you know anything. We want to make sure this thing is as feature-complete as possible.

I have a newbie question about blender, fbx, kseditor and kn5. Just trying to open track in blender, save the fbx, open it on kseditor to convert it as a kn5 and load it in AC via CM

This is my exact path:
  • extract the fbx + texture folder + .ini with CM
  • import it in Blender without touching anything of the already set options
  • export it in Blender without touching anything except the scale set to 0.01
  • open the resulting fbx in kseditor
  • load the ini file for persistance
  • save as kn5 without touching anything

Everything works well except the trees are now cut in half in the new track.

I tested to remove objects, change the ini file accordingly, rename the fbx etc.. everything went well for my modifications but those trees are always cut in the new track.

Would there be someone to tell me what I'm missing ?
did you rename the ini file to match your new fbx name? just noticed you said you loaded the ini file

Morning guys! Quick question... my previews do not seem to work the same in CSP 0.2.11 and since 0.1.79. Reverting to 0.1.79 produces the proper view. I tried using some of the newer previews from others in this forum, but have not had luck getting anything to work :banghead:.

0.2.11 (I tried to rework the preview in 0.2.11 to no avail)

0.1.79 (how it should look and work)

Please send the preview as a cmpreset here, I will try to help. What kind of showroom is that?

Thank you for the answer !

Yes I did !

I forgot to say that if I re-open the resulting "blendered" fbx (without modifications) in Blender again, I don't see differences with the original. But if I load it in kseditor, it is not the same than the original, and I see the cuttings of the tree objects.

I'm having some issues with the Big Snifferᵀᴹ in the pack. All of the RD skins have some weird shader nonsense going on that makes them look "dull", here's a comparison with one of the default skins:

Additionally, the AI for the Bayro is awful compared to the rest of the pack. I've tried races at many tracks (VIR, Road Atlanta, Buddh, Sachsenring), and all of them end with the BMWs spinning out over the curbs, while the rest of the cars carry on normally.
Anyone else notice this?

Have you joined his patreon as free member? You don't need paid membership. I can access his mods as a free member.
Yes, I joined his patreon, but I can't see some posts. I don't know if he deleted them or it's just me having an issue. For example: if I click on the link for the 499P that he shared on this forum I get brought to the home page of his patreon and I can't even see the post where he published the car.

I don't see the 499P on his patreon. He likely deleted it.

I hate these kinds of posts...

Our friend, my friend, @Fanapryde passed away earlier this month from a brain tumor.

He was one of the kindest people I have ever met in the world of SimRacing.
I had the chance to meet him several times over the last few months and I will never forget him.

I don't usually comment much on the forum, but news like this is deeply saddening. Even if you don't know the person personally, reading their comments makes you feel like you do. Rest in peace, Fanapryde.

May he rest in peace.
What's the difference between asr_owc_1992_round_08 and this? Thanks man
The original source for both tracks is the same: GP4. magnycours_1992 was converted for AC from a version where Caio Fonseca & From33to77 significantly reworked the objects/meshes/textures during conversion for rF2. The differences are most noticeable when looking at the kerbs, walls, and guardrails. Since the folder names are different, you can keep both and compare them.

Welcome Back!

Unfortunately, you've been somewhat overlooked here. The loss of Fanapryde and the many new questions in the forum have been somewhat in the foreground, which unfortunately happens every now and then.

It's good to have you back.

I'm not sure if those have encrypted data.acd, but if not, you can unpack the data.acd from the BMW and one of the cars with good AI, and copy the ai.ini from that to the BMW data folder. Make sure to rename the BMW data.acd to something like data.acd-Backup, and make sure the upshift RPM in the AI.ini is lower than the rev limiter in the engine.ini. I've done this process several times for cars with wonky AI and usually it helps the issue.

---

Also, so I don't double post, I want to add that I'm deeply saddened by the passing of @Fanapryde. He was an integral part of our community and a very nice guy. Unfortunately I didn't know him too well, but I wish I had.

If you ever manage to find a good model of the Bentley Brooklands and port it to AC I'll give ya a fiver (or multiples), it's been my dream car for yearrrs
