I'm going to enjoy being a medic in this game, my favourite thing in BF4 was being the Assault class with defibrillators, medic bags and the M39 EMR with a 1911 as a secondary. Looks like the semi-auto rifles will suit me quite well. Also am I the only one who thinks that all the soldiers running around with capes look dumb? I don't think anyone even did that in WWI...

The only incentive to not heal I can think of would be if you were to put them immediately back in to a position where they're getting shot such as in @Team THRT Drift example on Metro OR if you're most likely going to die on your way to the body. IMO if they're just round the corner from some enemies it's still logical to heal them, you're always going to stand a better chance with there being 2 of you shooting than just yourself. I could be wrong on this but one of my friends said to me that reviving someone also means it doesn't count towards the ticket loss, I never actually looked up on whether this is true or not but if it is it can play a fairly big factor towards winning or losing a game.
I know for a fact that it doesn't count as a death if you managed to get revived, so maybe it runs the same way.

I am loving the medic class

And they actually did wear capes... when & why? not sure.

Edit - Found some stuff - Gas Cape

On BF1 when you die there is a list of all medics with the syringe equipped within I believe 20m, I had a friend test this out by taking off his syringe and he would no longer appear on the near medics list. In BF4 I can't recall there being a list of nearby medics so I guess on there you couldn't really tell whether they had the ability or not.

In BF4 if your health drops low, you can see medic icons above players' heads. If you request a medic those icons will flash. Same thing with Ammo.

I'm fairly certain that happens in BF1. I know for a fact it flashes when someone requests it. Although, he was mentioning not being able to tell who was who in BF4.

I very much agree with the weapons, and I always was partial to the semi-auto's in Battlefield 4 so it is an easy adjustment. The thing that bothered me about the Riggotti was the reload speed, it was just too slow. I was moving around between the m1916 and M1907 for a bit because of the bigger clips, but lately I found the Mondragon Sniper is the most effective for me. It also has a 10 round clip so if worst comes to worst I have to make use of my pistol, and that hasn't gone too bad for me lately.

Yea that's the main thing I dislike about it as well, after every time I fire it assuming it's safe to do so I reload it, and if there's only 1 or 2 rounds left it's quicker to just fire them off it seems. Plus it's nice that you can only put 5 rounds in it if it's completely empty and fire it in a pinch without having to fully reload it. I've been using the second rifle you get for the medic class with the 25 round magazine and it's good, but doesn't fire as quickly which has gotten me killed up close. Much faster reloads too. I've only used the Lee Enfield sniper, and I liked the infantry version of it quite a bit. Least used class though.

Which pistol do you use? I was using the 1911 but it seems the MLE 1903 (I think that's the name haha) and I've been more partial to that. Less damage but quicker and easier to put rounds on somebody and reloads pretty quick. Also tried the one revolver which was ok but prefer the faster firing ones.

Yeah, same workaround I use for the Mondragon as well, since its also a 10 rd weapon. It has suited me best so far, but I just can't stand opticals in this game so I stick to iron sights or the ones with the sniper scopes. I was also liking the higher clip sized ones alright, but like you said they felt too slow at times, and damage also being a bit lower, I eventually switched back to something with a lower clip size. As for the Mondragon Sniper, it's not necessarily from the sniper rifle class, it's still the Semi-autos that the Medics use, but with a small scope on it.

I was using the 1911 for a while, but have only tried one other which is the c96. I find it to be much better with less recoil.

Yea I'm not a fan of opticals either, much prefer iron sights, if you're having trouble with the LMGs I found the AA sights to work pretty well though. But ah gotcha, assumed you meant it was a sniper. I've noticed a lot of people using it, guess I'll have to try it out myself. Trying to get the service star with the 25 round rifle though first.

I'll have to try that one too, I believe that has a bigger magazine than the 1903 which is its biggest downside.

The main weapon I used in the beta was actually the M1911 pistol itself. It feels cool running around with just a pistol in close quarters in BF1

Had a great match last night, 25 mins in Rush which went right down to the wire, defending to the last Telegraph station and just managed to get the win.

Its matches like this that I love in Battlefield.

Anybody else like me and only play using the bolt action rifles w Th iron sights?

I genuinely struggle so bad to use them with scopes. When I first tried the scout class I was trying to use a scope and couldn't hit a thing, switched to iron sights and suddenly my aim is back to normal. Maybe it didn't help that I tend to play slightly more aggressive and close range than many of the scouts I see (although this is still much better than what I've seen on BF4).

Nope. :D Though I'm taking a bit to play medic to try and get that German 1906 rifle that looks like a Pedersen. :P Have the Lee Enfield and Masuer 95, fun to be realistic. :D

The M1911 is bad ass in BF1 .. hip firing in close quarters it is hard to match with any primary.

I play medic and like the longer range primaries but when it gets close or I'm working on reviving out comes the pistol.

I started using the horse more often lately and when I first began, I was like "man, what is this red rider bb gun.......oh 2 shot kills, ok I retract my earlier complaint!"

Does anyone else have connection issues? I'm constantly getting a few seconds of lag every few minutes in game.

Other than that, this game is a massive breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed both of the Bad Company games. Then Battlefield 3 was a bit meh. Battlefield 4 was better. But this is just awesome. And the graphics are just next level.

Nope. It took me a while for a machinegun guy (MOAR BOOLETS) like me to adapt to the high-precision fire those guns require, but engaging l337 guys with Sniper-variant rifles with my plain Enfield and winning is so satisfying it's enough to make the effort worthwile. If you're at less than 300 metres and would like to keep your chest unexploded and head attached to the neck, you're better not get in my sights.
And besides, it's also a remarkable weapon up-close: with most opponents wielding semi-automatic rifles, using sniper rifles in close quarters is much more viable than it was in previous Battlefield games, and the SMLE, with its straight-pull bolt and ten-rounds mag, is the best gun in its class in tight spaces, IMHO.

It does also help that the scout's become a far more useful class than it was in the past. I got a flare gun and a trench periscope in my loadout - this essentially means that I get at least as many points from spot assists as I do from kills. Especially during those charges where you end up having to dive into foxholes because there is a couple of hostiles suppressing you.

Favorite class's still the MOAR BOOLETS Support, tho. The MG15, if properly used, will absolutely mow down enemies by the dozens. Just find a nice foxhole in the way of the enemy charge, pop a box of ammo, aim down sights and then keep spotting and shooting, spotting and shooting, throwing a grenade once in a while just to mix things up. Of course it's also a brilliant weapon to clear up rooms while playing offensively, but it's still not the monster the M240 Bravo was in Battefield 3...

Called it. Snipers are OP. Predicted this long before even the beta launched, only by seeing the map layout on first gameplay unveiling video.

Then they're not overpowered, they're simply favored by the layouts of the maps. Which isn't even necessarily true - snipers will eat dirt on Amiens and Ardennes. And generally speaking, they can't do nothing to you if you play smart and keep your head down.

Regardless, the current advantage snipers have on most maps may be offset by the addiction of more close-quarter maps in the future.

I'm having the same problem on Xbox. Seems that the EA servers are down across the board, hope it's not someone DDoSing them.

(Spent some time playing the campaign instead. Finished up Avanti Savoia and The Runner. And... Huh. May be time to dust this room. Also, the ending to Friends In High Place... Damn, Blackburn, you scary!)

I feel like the snipers need to have much more bullet drop than they have now.

Does anybody else think that the Assault and Support classes need to be more balanced?

I just switched to Assault from Medic and I am having a blast with it. All the toys to do damage to vehicles. Sure the Medic guns are nice mid range but even your anti tank grenade is pretty useless vs vehicles. Have not tried Scout or Support much though. It is Dice with BF, they will "balance" the weapons at some point, they can't help it.

After watching gameplay of the Kolibri pistol, I'm surprised that DICE didn't speed up the reload time to balance out it's mediocre damage. Sure, it's a joke/humiliation weapon in-game, but that doesn't mean it has to be completely useless.

Just downloaded it today (well about 10 gigas left) but the campaign has been amazing so far with some fantastic moments.

Can't wait to dive into multiplayer tomorrow, any tips and starter weapons?

NOPE! NERF THE KOLIBRI PISTOL!!

DICE plz

On a more serious note, I have to admit that I'm warming up to this game. I had a few Team Deathwatch games lately and I'm regularly finishing middle to top of the table. Can't really say much about anything else as I'm new to the BF series but it's making me forget SW Battlefront and I thought that would never happen :D

The starting weapons for each class are actually pretty good. - All I can say is if you play medic get the Selbstader M196 Marksman when you reach Medic rank 2. It has a large clip capacity and is easy to handle.

I do not see any..It maybe that I am usually less than 150m.

On the Center Right is the measured meters when the bullet drops. Most of the maps on BF1 are probably < or equal to 150 meters. *

*from my experience and reading that chart.
