I just wish the writers, or translators, or whoever, would stop using "interiors" and instead use "cockpit" so we know what the hell they are talking about.

"The 200 premium cars that take the final count past the 1000 mark are something else, however. The premiums have been lavished with a slightly worrying amount of detail - every single screw is visible in the hubs, the interiors have been recreated down to the stitching (standard cars won't have interiors, which is a bit sad, but there are, like, 800 of them), and their undersides have been comprehensively modelled to take into account a new physics system which, along with allowing for dents and scratches, can sends your ride flipping through the air during collisions."

Check out the image Scandisk posted. That was from E3 and it has some guy playing it with Move and there is only an outline . Im starting to feel ify about this.

guys just think something forza has almost 500 cars + dlc with dashboard view in only two and half years why shouldnt gt5 have 1000 in five and half years of development:nervous:

Agreed. The cars in Forza Motorsport 3 are definately not as detailed as the ones in Gran Turismo 5, but they still are darn good looking cars and all of them (nearing 500 if you include all the DLC) have great cockpit views. Turn 10 completed them in about half the time GT5 has been in development, so doing the math (unless PD is really short on people in the modelling department compared to T10), they should have had the time to complete a dashboard view of all those cars, especially considering they didn't have to model them completely from scratch.

According to Eurogamer, the muscle cars are among the "classic" models. ?standard??

And they don't look too shabby if you ask me. Definitely not ported GT4-models like back in GTHD.
Also note the "interior" is visible with at least dashboards and steering wheels. Enough for a playable cockpit view. As I (and others) have said before, premium cars are likely those you destroy down to the bolts. WRC, NASCAR, LM, SuperGT, etc.
Those cars have been modelled inside and out. Detailed engine compartments, detailed chassis, tubing and wiring everywhere, doors and hoods that can fly off, etc.

makes sense.

You mean you hope they went back over all EIGHT HUNDRED cars from previous games and modelled the cockpits? I doubt it, so they will have to draw the line somewhere - no good having some standard cars with cockpit views and some without. Best have them all without, and just leave that detail to the premium cars.

Either way, it makes no odds to me - all of them will have hood or bumper cam, and that's all I need.

So what will they do with the replays? Black out the windows of the non-premium cars?

Where I cone from a car salesman will try to sell you a car with a nice interior or a leather interior.
I'm not sure what part of the world a salesman sell you a leather cockpit.

Interior is the common wording for the dash upholstery etc.
Interior view = cockpit view. IMHO.

No, the interiors used when looking in from the outside are different from when you choose the cockpit view—they have two different models. When you see the interior when looking in through a window, you're just seeing an incomplete low-res model that isn't detailed at all. This is due to performance issues, imagine having to render 16 cars+the super detailed interiors. When you're using cockpit view, the detailed interior that PD has modeled appears around you.

I hope this will be cleared up as soon as possible. Cockpit view is the real deal to me, I'd rather have fewer cars, but all with cockpit view.

Nevertheless, it's gonna be an awesome game, but if all cars have some sort of cockpit view, it'll be perfect! 👍

classic=standard (the standard ones are cars from older GT's so it confirms cockpit view for 950+ cars :))

EDIT: Why would a Suzuki Cappucino be premium :P

Look at it another way, in the grand scheme of things a dashboard that can be used to produce a "cockpit view" isn't alot of work when you take into account the rest of the car. You already have to have some of it modeled, just for the replays, so to add a couple of buttons, switches, dials, and a higher resolution texture really isn't going to be too much trouble.

To deform that dashboard in the event of a crash, now that would be a different matter, hence premium mode.

Yes , I agree with you.Let's not forget about the 200 cars in the master car list which already have cockpit view :).

I'm sorry, but if i'm not mistaken, the Dodge Challenger is listed as premium too.
(E3 thread, video with all the cars)..

When is this "behind closed doors" presentation from Kaz? I'm sure IGN will be invited there, is it meant to be on the Wedensday? Anyone know what time?

Not sure of the time but the behind doors thing is done to show stuff not ment for general public anyway. I think.

This article doesn't make sense. It say 800 of the car models are upscaled and that they don't have cockpit view... Uhm, okay. No, completely wrong.

Apart fropm a handful of classic road and race cars I've driven enough of the 800 or so cars from previous GT titles.

Most cars have been supersed by newer models while I'm sure PD will have selected a number of cars from previous GT titles and re-modled them as premium cars.

So If all the classic cars, nascar cars, rally cars, racing class cars, exotic sports cars are premium.... how many cars does that leave out of the 200?

We can solves this with math!

I'm betting upscaled/standard cars still have internal view, just not fully modelled interior (in the same way they haven't got under the hood modelled.

As odd as I think it would be to have 800 cars without a cockpit view, I've been thinking about it and I'm starting to believe it. Lets think about this for a minute...

All the cars from GT4 are going to be in GT5 yes? Think about some of the more unusual cars and cars that would never come to your head unless you were scrolling through the games garage. I'm finding it hard to believe that PD would model cockpits for those cars...I mean the Ford Model T? The Ford XR8 Race Car, Nike One, Jay Leno's Tank Car, Isuzu 177 Coupe, the Cizeta Moroder?? Hmmm...as much as I hope that there will be cockpits for every car, I just can't see PD getting these cars to model them. Take a look at the GT4 car list...

I'm seriously worried now, I want a respectable journalist (cmon IGN) to clarify this!

The detail level of the premium cars is described as being able to see every nut and bolt plus under car detail.

That wasn't the case with any of the cars in GT5P yet the vast majority had interior views.

Hard to say, there are almost 80 cars in prologue. By this definition (cockpit view), all prologue cars are "premium".

But premium cars are supposed to be fully modelled in all areas such as under the hood, which none of prologues cars are, so by this definition, none of the prologue cars are premium - of course they could have been upgraded since prologue.

But I really doubt they are going to go to the trouble of fully model a Suzugi Cappuccino's engine innards.

So if said Cappuccino is now "Standard", are they going to remove the cockpit view they did for it? It just doesn't add up.

i just saw this at ign:
The game supports online racing and features over 950 cars, over 20 courses, 70 variations, the newest hybrid cars and electric cars, a new physics engine, a new in-cockpit view, HD support, and much more.

Looks pretty detailed to me, they even modeled parts you can't see in the cockpit view.
