Having blown not one, but two engines in the process 👍

that was Davidson I think , I don't Aguri's blew the engines , but I know they had some kind of technical problem not sure if it was engine related though

I have a small feeling in my abdomen that Fisico will win this weekend..

...and you trust your abdomen? I'll bet someone out there trusts their spleen to make decisions for them. Personally, I'll take my brain over any other internal organ.

Mmkay something in my brain is telling me Fisi will win:D:p

And "what brain" jokes arent funny:grumpy:

Hey, my spleen picked Button to win in Hungary. Naturally, I didn't listen, but now I take it a little more seriously. Okay, so thats $5,000 on Albers this weekend...

I also had a feeling Button would win too at Hungary..

I think this race has Ferrari win written all over it, I'll call Schumi for the win with Massa second then maybe Kimi 3rd. Michelins appear to be struggling though so maybe a Williams can jump up there if they survive..

why are the lap times so fast:? is it just that aerodynamic and mechanical grip have advanced so much since 2004 that even with weaker engines the cars are just as fast? i though monza was one of the courses where the most powerfull cars really shined and downforce wasnt as much a factor ( Explainsbmw doing so well)... So... why is it that the lap times were 3 seconds off on other highspeed tracks?

The track has been resurfaced. Gives better grip, as I understand.

Is there any chance that the qualifying lap record speed is going to fall today? Montoya took it back in 2002 with a 1:20.264, averaging just over 161mph. 2006 cars are a long way down on power but with a lot more grip from the tyres I reckon it could be close. Schumacher's 2006 fastest qualifying time at the United States GP was a tenth faster than his 2002 pole time. Anyway, looking forward to a good race, I hope the championship gap closes again, we could do with another nail-biting finish to the season no matter which way it finally goes. I think Ferrari will be strong here.

Ferrari, BMW, and McLaren will be strong here. It will be interesting to see if Renault haven’t been showing their true pace. But somehow I don’t think they have an answer this weekend. At least not for Ferrari.

And the top 3 cars in qualifying were…?[/smug]

Woo! Go Kimi!

Great lap from Kimi, I was happy to see Schumacher 'take pole' but when Kimi went through 0.002 faster I shouted at the TV and couldn't believe. Kimi deserved it. It'll be interesting to see the fuel situation tomorrow. On my above question about the lap record speed they were nowhere near it, about a second off.

The drivers have said otherwise as with new Tarmac oils after resurfacing come to the top of the Tarmac.

Good end to Qualifying. The BMWs were very hot and that lap from Kimi to pip Schumi was brilliant.

And are Renault heavy on fuel so that they can get though on one stop?

Or are they just slow?

The Ferrari drivers, I have noted, were particularly happy with the new track surface. Read into that whatever you want.

Alonso has qualified 5th with the right aerodynamic side of his Renault partially broken.... how's that slow?

And hey, Fisichella is Fisichella. I haven't seen him doing a DECENT quali in a long time.

well done BMW the been fast in all sessions , and hopfully will be in the race :) , I'm afraid of that nasty first corner , in Blake's words "its a bitch of a first corner ..."

interesting fact BMW got 348km/h through the speed trap fastest of the field

That bested the qualifying sessions in Hungary. Only .497 seconds covered the top 9 in the 2nd session. The best moment for me was Kimi beating Michael.

Go Alonso

yay!! ITV have got rid of those stuupid team chiken sponsors. I hate those ads.

I so want F1 back on the Beeb, I hate having to go to Ads every 7 laps for 3 minutes at a time. Destroying the sport.
