Gran Turismo 7's Next Update is Coming September 28, Adds Three New Cars

The rubberbanding only kicks in in endurance races . 99% of people who complain about ruberbanding are doing full blown endurance races with pit stops. If you create Sprint races ( 3-5 laps) you can have a good time . I have proof of it too , all cars coming in within 3-5 seconds of first in a 20 car grid is a CLOSE race.
Why are players expected to do PD's job for them? Final Fantasy XVI players don't have to create custom hunt enemies. Crash Bandicoot players don't have to create custom levels. Why should GT7 not have the events in place already?

To get upto speed PD need a whole raft of new Le Mans Hypercars, SGT GT500's, GT3 models, and the latest supercars. I just don't see those being delivered in GT7 unless something extra ordinary is delivered in the coming months.
PD hyperfocusing like this would be my personal worst-case scenario. Everyone other sim-leaning racing game going seems to mostly only care about adding racing cars in <current year> right now - I like that we have one place that adds road cars, or classic cars, or tuner cars, or unique cars. Could it be faster? Yes, of course it could, but it being different and varied is a lot of the reason I come back to the game.

So I guess all those Best Motoring videos don't feature races?
You can not compare races done for entertainment purpose, tv show only with less than 10 cars on track to real races made under control of governing bodies (automobile associations)
Even club style amateur races are in most cases around 10 laps or so
The only type of races that have this few amount of laps per race and car on track is rally cross but this is a completely different form of motor racing

There are many sims that are adding old race cars.

GTR revival will be featuring the Lister Storm race car and the Car pass for Forza Motorsport 2023 will be featuring the Nissan R391.

I am sick of people trying to justify the lack if content with the fact that we have the ability to make custom races.

The simple fact of the matter is that the Custom Races mode as a whole is BROKEN!!
The way the AI handles are manipulated means there is no way at all to incorporate strategies into any races.
Not only this but there is a lack of missing options that still need to be added to the mode like usable/required tyres options.
A lot of options that are still broken from release.
The AI are stuck to using 1 tyre compound (Hard) and somehow then manage to do lap times faster than is possible if they were on softs.
And yes payouts are pitifully low but I'm not going to go into that one...

Please stop using this as an excuse for PDs lack of interest in creating a fun gaming experience.
One day, GT will feature a custom race mode, a livery editor, a track path editor, even a car buider ; but only two cars at launch, one track, one race, and those guys will still be here to defend a 200$ game because "if you want it, just do it by yourself and stop complaining"...

Ultimately there will always be "defenders" and there will always be "detractors" however reasonable or not, and there will be a multitude of opinions in the middle.

I’m happy with any new cars or tracks, but with VR being so amazing, I’m ok not really ever getting any new tracks or cars

I just want more robust events added. I want an event for every style of car on every track. Real endurance races (I’m amazed at how long I can comfortably race in VR, not because of sickness but just immersion. The 60 minute races fly by)

I guess I feel like what I’m asking for doesn’t require much.

I enjoy getting to race and or drive any car in VR. Sometimes I just pretend I’m like Chris Harris and review cars.

GT7 with VR is amazing, I just want more events to get lost in. I’ve played since launch and am just now starting to complete everything, so I’m not one to fly through the content. I’m also not the kind of person to take joy in repeating myself, so once I get gold I consider it done.

I also don’t want to spend time creating events, I don’t even spend time with the livery editor or scapes. Not my thing. Just want PD to curate the experience

I'm living on hopium that this update is more than just a content dump. I'd really like see some QoL features added/adjusted too. One thing that's been irking me lately is the inability to change car after you've entered an event. Why do I have to back out of the screen to change the car? If a car I want to use meets the event requirements, why not speed up the process and let me switch cars after I've entered the event but haven't begun the race yet (of course)?

But hopium I guess.

GT1 had just 3 races over 5 laps long, and GT2 had 7. GT3, however, had quite a decent number of races over 5 laps long. It had a number of entire championships of them. GT3 was awesome. For it's time.
I feel like the longest endurance race should be no longer than 4hrs, since in actual endurance races, it's not like it's just one guy doing an entire 24hr race. I suppose I also understand that for Sport Mode championships, it'd make sense that most races only go for as long as they do now, so that you can potentially enter the next available slot if you feel like you can get a better score for that given round.

Speaking of which, I do hope we get more missions this time, as we've only really received a single new mission pack since launch.

I wonder if they save money on licensing by limiting the sellable game.

Like say, it'll cost us XY dollars if we want to add Lotus to GT7 and GT8, so lets just save Lotus for GT8 and it'll only cost X and then we can take Y dollars and license.. Holden. I dunno, whatever.

Also wonder if the licensing is per car model or for a manufacturer. Would be wonderful to know these things.

I wonder if PD simply don’t care about improving GT7 as a game or if they don’t know how.
Fixing custom races should be easy, same for offering more endurance races.
How hard is it to offer a multi class race at the ring? It should have been there on day 1, yet after more than a year it’s not there. PDS priorities and execution are just painful to watch. It’s genuinely one of the few games where I feel they make the game for themselves and don’t care about the feedback we have.

We’ve had up to 24h prior without any issues. Add save in pit mid race, that’s all that’s needed, effectively making them stints.

I'm still not convinced that most people would be interested in completing them, even with the ability to save in the pits. Sure, I'd love to do a 24hr race with breaks, especially on circuits that have dynamic time-of-day and weather, but I'm just not sure about everyone else. Not that this matters, as I forgot that PD said that 24hr races were coming to GT7 at some point.

Maybe some NEW Races with 30 Mins. or even 60 Mins.
...Hope won't die!

It’s possible. With a Super Taikyu-like race car. Maybe a one hour Gr.4 race this time.

I’ll say it’s a product of what us players can do ourselves, that PD don’t have to do. Like certain cars.

PD give us parts for cars that don’t require them to model duplicates. We have livery editor that don’t require PD to model race cars.

No need to make 300km races from past GT games when players can do that. All the tools are there.

Someone will have to ask Kaz why.

Good choice of cars. And have been itching for an update for some time now.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for 2 player to be fixed. But now that is see Forza won't even release with a working 2 player mode, I'm giving the GT7 team the benefit of the doubt that's not easy to develop. Either way I hated the last Forza engine so much, hard to drive but not in a realistic way. I ended my year long GT Sport boycott for not having a career mode when I saw how nasty the Forza engine is.

I really really really hope the K24 Honda engine from Phil Robles’ Honda Civic ends up as a popular swap. We needed the king of engine swaps in the game with some big output.

I’m excited about the car choices. Annnnnnd….. I think this update is going to be a banger.

People can say all they want, that PD doesn’t care about other games… but they do. Most all other artists care about what other artists are doing. Forza, when it comes out, will largely be compared against Gran Turismo in its current state. Not the Gran Turismo that we got at launch.

My hunch is that we’ll get an endurance league….some of them being new grind events. A new track. New missions. And the return of Sophy.

Polyphony Digital by my calculations, is pretty vain. And they would love nothing g more than to beat the new iteration of Forza on all fronts - from physics, track count, car count, events, campaign, AI, VR CAPABILITY and so on and so forth.

I will be god-smacked if this isn’t me of the best updates yet

Shame we can't create custom championships.

Exactly. I’m looking at the “CHAMPIONSHIPS” at the bottom of the WORLD CIRCUITS menu. It’s all right there. I don’t think, during an interview, asking for a reason why we don’t have certain features in Custom Races, will be disrespectful to Kaz. Then again, I’m sure a question such as that, isn’t high on an interviewer’s query lists.

Do you remember what the complaints were during the days of GT5?

They were along the lines of:
-Why are there so many standard cars?
-The standard cars look awful
-I would rather have less cars and all premiums instead
-The cars sound horrible
-I wish there was a livery editor
-I wish we had engine swaps
-I wish we could customize our car more
-The events are the same old format as the old Gran Turismo games

You could think of more, if you were there to witness them.

PD has addressed all of these to some degree.

But still...
But still, it had a proper offline mode, just like every previous GT game. I played GT Sport more than this. :banghead: :(

PMK
I mean, can't say these are cars that were high up on anyone's wishlists.
PD seemingly don't care what anyone wants, be that cars, tracks, challenges, pretty much everything.

For cars and tracks, they have some weird non logical (imho) tastes in both. I always wonder if there is one mind behind the choices, or by committee, or staff randomly putting forward choices. From the outside there does not seem to be a coherent plan. :indiff:

It's time to play Guess That Price. It's relatively simple this time around with just one non-formulatic car and 2 holdovers from the previous update that will finally be available for purchase.
  • Toyota HiMedic - I guessed last month that its cost would be 125,000 Cr., and that is still just a guess as the cost of a new engine/new body is currently 0 Cr.
  • Toyota GR Corolla - Unlike the HiMedic, it has a cost for a new engine/new body, so unless PD messes with that, it will cost 71,500 Cr., which is roughly 20,000 Cr. more than its $51,420 sticker here in the US.
  • Honda Civic SEMA winner (likely in a separate Brand Central dealership) - All of the SEMA cars so far, both launch and post-launch, came in at 300,000 Cr., so I don't expect any difference this time.
  • Honda Civic FL5 - Considering the "exchange" rate between real-world US Dollars and fictional PD credits is rather unfavorable, the 2023 sticker of $44,890 translates into 64,000 Cr., which would also be 9,000 Cr. more than the 2020 FK8.
  • Mazda3 Gr.4 - The lone non-updated post-launch Brand Central Gr.3 car (Suzuki VGT Gr.3) did not have a price premium over the bulk of the Gr.3 cars, so I'll say this one comes in at the same 350,000 Cr. the other Brand Central Gr.4 cars are.

Considering only the 3 new cars, the value it would be between 720,000 and 750,000 credits, or do the Sardegna WTC 800 race (between 25-30 min) not bad, so will be quick to get thr new cars
