pCARS Patch Notes - 1.4

OK let me clear some issues up here about whether or not I leave my forum, re-register with another forum to help someone fix their broken game.

I DON"T CARE If they fix their broken game or not. I have posted here to help *MY* fellow members *HERE* with issues that I have found. Now *IF* someone from SMS or WMD wants to pass on what I have found that is fine by me and I am sure SMS will be appreciative for that.

By the same logic that some people use here why do we even post here at all and why don't we *ALL* go and join the PCARS official forums?

Just have some spinach instead ;). On a more serious note, don't think you have to be particularly strong to use something like the T300RS, technique of how you hold wheel makes a big difference. Like people stronger than me struggle to use G27 while I find it easy with one hand at full strength with light grip.
I think with this patch Jack Of Spades settings are far too much now with the T300, Started severly reducing the MZ scale and things are getting better.

AM I blind or is there no mention of the fact that they added taillight reflections to the PS4 version? (and possibly the Bone version)

I'm shocked that they wouldn't want to brag about that.

I guess it's actually better that way. With this attitude you'd be banned quickly over there, so all is well. Hopefully someone can pass some of your findings along.

I'm having a strange issue since the patch with my TM T300 which may not affect a lot of users. I'm using my T300 with a CPX adapter that allows me to use Fanatec pedals with my Thrustmaster wheel. Since the patch I'm unable to calibrate my break pedal unless I leave my wheel in PS3 mode (making it like a T500). If I do leave my wheel in PS3 mode I have very little Force Feedback, it is barely noticeable but it is slightly there. I haven't tried deleting all my game data yet and re-installing but as it stands now my wheel is close to useless. I did try plugging my wheel (With CPX adapter) into my PC and Thrustmaster profiler and everything was as expected so it's not a hardware issue and also everything was perfect pre-patch. I'm not trying to whinge as I love this game to bits, just hoping that there is some resolution to this for me as well as anyone else who may have have this odd occurrence.

OH my, I am sorry to say but the game is more unstable than before the patch.. If I play three game sessions then two out of those three sessions the game crashes.. I even bought the both DLC packs and this is the thanks.. surly Sligtly Mad studios doesn't do it on purpose? Getting so frustrating of all the bugs, and it such a shame because this game is or rather would be really goood... I am so fed up with unfinished games.

Already in the Xbone version, Also dust is added to PS4 and better lighting. Ian Bell said earlier that PS4 version the same as Xbone version now :) Just with less jaggies.

Mz is for feeling the back end lose traction. You sure you don't mean the Fy scale for heavy steering?

GTplanet is much better place, you'll only get frustrated if you get banned there. Keep providing reports and let those WMD member who read and have time pass them on to the dev.

I already told my mate about the 1.4 update, hopefully he will update soon, right now he put the game on the shelf as it kept crashing randomly ( PS4 )

After this patch the wheel is getting extremely warm! Was also cool to touch after a session but tonight it's hot!
i posted earlier about a T300 fan issue. are you on firmware 24? i've found the fan takes a lot longer to stop spinning after patch 1.4, could be because something is making the wheel overheat?

That's odd, mine's running much cooler, although i have ffb at 100 and tyre force at 75.
Have you got fy too high? I find it's best in the low teens. Ymmv

i didn't feel mine for heat, but the fan is behaving differently. do you know which firmware your wheel is on? does your fan stop quickly when it's idle?

It's on v.24, pre-patch it would stay on for ages after play but now it turns off after a few seconds. I'd imagine they'd run even cooler when ( if ) the spring issue is sorted.

thanks. very odd, i'm on v24 too. last week the fan stopped straight away, now it doesn't. might have to check the firmware again although i don't particularly want to, had major dramas updating the wheel to the point where it wasn't even recognised as a device for a while, then i had to reboot everything. probably a glitch there.

I noticed the taillights aswell, looks cool - although i saw some 'under' the track at what point if you know what i mean.

Has anyone else had the game crash on them while simulating rest of the Qualy session?

yes, i have i friend with the fanatec wheel and the adapters for logitech pedals and they are not working anymore after the patch and overall also the fanatec wheel still badly perform.

Thankyou. This is the sort of mature response I would hope for.

And you expect us to spend our day to find issues posted on gtplanet and post them on the wmd forum?

Well you (WMD members) were quick enough "spending your day" bringing information here from the WMD forums when the game was in development. You know, all the promotional stuff, saying how great the game is etc etc, all the hinting that you guys knew stuff that we didn't etc etc.

There is even a thread on here for bugs and glitches but hey, if you guys don't want to further help with the development of the game, that's no skin off my nose, bit selfish though.

Copy and paste must have been made harder.

Have you set your TV up properly? If you have an LCD, chances are your TV has motion interpolation enabled. It will be called a different thing depending on the manufacturer of the TV. Mine's a Sony TV and iirc it's called 'Motion Flow' on mine. I have my TV's contrast, sharpness etc all set up on one profile for my PS4, and this includes motion interpolation being off.

What it does is it adds extra frames into the image that are made up of the preceding frame and the next frame, to make 24fps TV shows look smoother. In content above 30fps it makes it look blurry, especially in 60fps content. A friend of mine had nothing changed on his TV when he first played Project CARS, and the ghosting looked so bad that it was almost impossible to focus. Mine was already set up before I got pCARS so the ghosting wasn't really that bad pre-patch on mine. If you're still having image problems, try checking out your TV settings.

Motion Interpolation is the enemy of games.
Mike.....Many thanks for this great explanation .No I don't have a LCD tv but gonna Play a bit with my tv settings anyway.
Greets .

I have a similar issue; I'm trying to use G25 pedals with a Fanatec wheel using the suppiled Fanatec adapter, & the pedals are not registering, so I can't use them at all.

I've also noticed that when I put my Fanatec GT2 into PC mode it automatically jumps into PS3 mode & all the buttons light up with the PS logos, is this supposed to happen?

EDIT: Problem solved! You have to recalibrate the pedals before they will work. Thanks for telling us that SMS.

Maybe I'm going mad here but the Mercedes 190E DTM has a few liveries I've never seen in the game before since 1.04. They're real liveries of the following drivers 1992 cars:
#3 Klaus Ludwig - Sonax
#4 Bernd Schneider - Sonax
#5 Ellen Lohr - Berlin 2000
#6 Keke Rosberg - Berlin 2000
#11 Jacques Laffite - Karcher/Castrol
#12 Jorg van Ommen - Karcher/Castrol

Last night the fan was on for a long time when idle but that was due to the heat as it was very warm, I did put the tire force up to 100 and FFB to 100 right enough so maybe that's not a good idea. Will put TF back down to 75 see if it runs cool today.

Interesting as the next Community Livery pack is supposed to contain six new real DTM liveries for the 190E.

They may have let them into the wild early by accident.

I've just had a look at the other two cars on the news post and the 'Deadmau5' BAC Mono and a 'Rusty Barn Find' Ford Escort are in the game too, it was probably easier for them to add them through the update than the Playstation Store.
