pCARS Patch Notes - 1.4

I've just had a look at the other two cars on the news post and the 'Deadmau5' BAC Mono and a 'Rusty Barn Find' Ford Escort are in the game too, it was probably easier for them to add them through the update than the Playstation Store.
The BAC one came with the first Livery pack, so I would have expected that to be in place, but the Barn Find Escort and the 190e ones I suspect are supposed to be locked, with the Community Livery Pack 2 free DLC then unlocking them.

Last night the fan was on for a long time when idle but that was due to the heat as it was very warm, I did put the tire force up to 100 and FFB to 100 right enough so maybe that's not a good idea. Will put TF back down to 75 see if it runs cool today.
my tire force is 100 but the FFB is only at 80 and it still whirrs for ages. i just got a response on TM's fb page (not sure if an employee or not, but the name was french) saying it's due to the FFB being higher as default in patch 1.4.

i can agree to a certain extent, but the difference in cooldown speed now is massive. hopefully TM will take a look and discover the fan doesn't need to go on for so long.

After doing multiple races last night in the rain I can say that they are still fast but not super fast like before. You can at least keep up with them or maybe can get a few passes in. But the thing I notice the most was the aggression and awareness of the AI was different. Yea I know it wasn't in the patch notes but I notice change in them. They give you room most of the time now. It's still times when they run into you still like they don't see you but majority of the time they give room. And they not as aggressive like before. They still are but not to a point where they just throw you off the track. I'm going to play more today but man I'm kinda happy with the results so far.:)

this is good to hear. i'm keen to test this in an open wheeler because the AI in those are crazy.

(just noticed my auto capitals is off. will amend)

They did list AI tweaks on 'first pass' for a number of tracks, but I do agree that its seems to be better overall.

I ran the historic invitational with the old Merc and Escorts at Oulton Park last night and never got flipped over once, so the collision detection on the Escort and the AI being tweaked have made it a good event (I still came 10th).

Speaking of AI, an issue that I've noticed is that in certain corners the AI can brake much later than me in certain corners. In the Clio's at Silverstone national in the heavy braking zone for Club they can brake considerably later than me. I think @V8-Johnboy also had problems at Oulton Park.

Has this been looked at? Potentially what they mean by AI tweaks for the tracks (I did see this somewhere).

Yep Oulton Park really shows this up. This is nothing compared to the race 2 pit stop fail I'm currently encountering meh:yuck:

My gripe with AI in the rain (and to a lesser extent to all AI) is that they are too consistent, don't make any mistakes like running wide or spinning off in the rain except when interacting with the player controlled car.

The AI is using dumbed down physics. At the higher difficulty levels some of their pace comes from braking impossibly late. That's why they are too aggressive and constantly dive bombing. It's totally unrealistic so I no longer race in single player.

The dive bombing every sharp corner is so monotonous!

This why I'm glad I'm old and crap, racing with the AI at around 60 - 70 and they act quite grown up.

I run the AI on 100 and yes they can be a little aggressive but this is sports car racing. I've not seen anything that has really got me mad. Certainly nothing as bad as you see in 99% of the random lobbies I have joined!

I also think at 100 they give a very good challenge but would like them to be a bit tougher as with a few tweaks to tyre pressure which I think is set far too high be default I can normally qualify in pole if not the top three and usually beat them in the race.

Have you ever watched any professional motor sports? They very rarely make mistakes. Consistency in challenging conditions is general what gets them to the top.

How often do you see every single car finish every round in a championship?

Just read on official forums...

As a former engineer student I started changing controller values back and forward and then I identified what caused the centerspring overdrive effect. Here it is:

Relative Adjust Gain 1.10 (1.00 okay also)
Relative Adjust Bleed 0.10
Relative Adjust Clamp 0.95

The bold red marked value has to stay strict at "0.00" with my CSW v1 ... even tuning it by 1/100 to 0.01 kills the centering and the wheel starts with overdriving instead of just centering. The other 2 values are fine but don't seem to have much of an effect.

Anyone playing just now able to try it out?

Edit - 100% no does not fix

The graphics fixes on ps4 are very nice with this 1.4 patch so at least that is good. It runs smoother, with none of the crazy blur or ghosting even in the screenshots.

The center spring not being fixed is frustrating .. I went through the reset process then re entered my global settings and it was pretty damn obvious. I put it nicely on the official forums saying they should start a ps4 test group to allow us to volunteer for so we can help prevent things from slipping past again basically.

The FFB does feel pretty good though maybe better than pre patch even with my same exact settings .. but that could just be in my head.

Have you noticed Ian Bell is replying to just about every issue bar the centre spring issue! What is up with that?

and tyre smoke too! Who doesn't like to burn a bit of rubber now and then? :P
I'd better take the caterham classic for ten lap races round Oulton Park again tonight then, I love watching my replays from that .... my tyres feel like I've killed them by lap 8 but it looks spectacular :D

The default settings for the FFB is way better than the old one but...

It seems i feel less some forces like the bumps, kerbs etc... i used the Inside Sim Racing video as a base to my FFB setting, now i need a new one. =[

So that's real geezer AI then? :D

On the PCARS forum some are saying the AI is still going on forwards on slicks when it starts raining, like the track is dry. Can some of you that experience a dry to wet race confirm if this was fixed or not?

Might change back to default as i dont think JOS settings translate to well to the T300
