Senna content coming soon?

There was a time when I was excited about the prospect of Senna related content. After all the silence and still missing advertised features, I'm not really excited anymore. I believe the last update for GT6 I installed was 1.04 ha ha. If the Senna content was coming out 5/1, you'd think there would be some news about it by now; Senna is a huge name in motorsports, not just F1. For that reason, I had always expected to have to pay for the Senna content.

I honestly think that PD is doing the right thing right about now by remaining silent. They aren't giving false promises on content release dates anymore, I think, ever since the lack of a track in February.

They're doing the right thing by not giving dates if it's not ready, and completely the wrong thing by staying silent.

The cat is out of the bag. They already mentioned dates and updates. If they're not going to be able to release Senna content on his anniversary, the right thing to do is say so. If they're not going to be able to release it in May, the right thing to do is say so. If they don't know when it will be ready, the right thing to do is say so.

Yet somehow whenever they do communicate, they manage to do it completely wrong. Either they give solid dates before they are in a position to give solid dates (and thus piss everyone off when they miss those dates), or they give the vaguest of marketing waffle to attempt to fool people into thinking they've said something profound, when really they've said nothing.

It's as if when anything about PD is revealed, be it their development process, inside the studio, on-scene for modeling a track or vehicle, or even any of the staff showing themselves besides Kazunori, is like the equivalent of getting an quick, inside glimpse of Area 51; it's so secret and kept so quiet away from the public, but when they do have to confess something to us people, we often times question the validity of their word.

If this source about the Senna content being right around the corner is true, then I'll...I honestly don't know... :boggled:

What's sad about it all is that a large majority of information from GT is peeled away from Kaz by GTP and a few others. The rest of the information comes from leaks like development photos and shots of workers (VGT wall and Bathurst, BRZ. Etc..)

And if we do ask any questions it's as if they speak a word and they'll be fired... For Pete's sake let an American run PD and he'll never shut his arse up...

You'll get plenty of information from PD when they're ready to start the hype train because they want to sell you GT7.

Whatever Kaz and PDs original motivations for making this series were, it's pretty obvious it's only about making money to fund Kazs racing dreams now.

I have played all the GT games religiously and GT5 almost every day. GT6 only a handful of occasions and not at all anymore. This Senna content would have to be epic to lure me back, sadly for you all dangling on the hook I feel you'll be disappointed.

This is probably just adding fuel to the fire, and is purely speculation, but....

What do you guys think of the idea that, maybe, the planned "Senna Content" is ready...but will be delayed due to PD catching wind of this idea of "Senna was a great man, this anniversary content had better be up to snuff and not just a recycled Vettel TT marketing ploy," floating around the interwebz.

I realize we here at GTP are a minor fraction of the GT population, and I'm one of those who subscribe to the idea that PD pays little to no attention to much of anything regarding their game on the web....

But it's a thought that just came to me, so I thought I'd bring it up :)

Not a chance. That would imply that they pay any attention at all to feedback from the community. ;)

I really doubt we'll get the Senna content tomorrow. like...really doubt. But it would make sense to see it in the first half of May. Heck, I'd be fine with the end of May as long as they give us more heads up than "hey...it's may 30th...the Senna content is coming out tomorrow".

I think that video they posted about his legacy is at least some evidence that they are confident about being able to deliver. We shall see though.

The video doesn't mean a thing, unfortunately. They reposted a video that the Senna Foundation made. A blind, arthritic weasel could have managed that one, and blind arthritic weasels don't make DLC.

I don't really mean that they made the video (or posted the video actually) so they must have made DLC. I'm saying that why would they remind everyone about a commitment they couldn't keep? Especially so close.

Why do they do lots of things? Why announce that Zahara was coming in February? We're almost in May now.

If this were a normal company, I'd agree, the posting of related content would be a good sign that they're starting to promote
for an eventual release of DLC.

With Polyphony, what actually happens bears no relationship to what is announced beforehand. Sometimes it matches up, sometimes it doesn't. Reading anything into a blog post is a mistake, because there's no causal connection between that and the actual DLC we're waiting for.

Polyphony are the boy who cried wolf. Nothing they say or do can be trusted at this point, and nothing can be read into their actions. All we can do is hope that the final outcome is what we all wish for, a quality product that adds significantly to the GT6 experience and honours the memory of Senna.

The thing is, anything that comes out of Kaz's mouth always end up sounding like a well written haiku. It gets people excited, but in the end, it's just a haiku. But it's understandable. Kaz may have shifted his focus towards the 24hrs of nurburgring since the start of the year. If I had the chance to do such a thing, it would definitely be my top priority.

I'm hoping that content will come in after the big race. This big race is bound to refresh kaz's mind. I understand the feeling of being in such a race. The intensity, the tension, even the paddock crew's on edge. This is a godly experience.

It really should come out this week if it's to be relevant. That's the whole point of this proposed content.

Fingers crossed.

Just to remind eveyone of PD's form i'm going to leave this here:

'An interview with U.S. Gran Turismo producer Taku Imasaki recorded after last month’s GT6 reveal was just recently published by GamerHub.tv, and it contained a few interesting tidbits of information.

Taku confirms that “at least one additional track per month will be downloadable.”'

The website shows PS store update content.

PS store in US will update in 7-9 hours while the EU PS Store updates 3PM-6PM GMT on Wednesdays.

I think (if it is released this week) it's either going to make or break GT6 for a lot of people. Personally I'm not that interested in Senna, or F1 in general, so Senna specific content doesn't matter much to me, but what I am very keen to see is how PD handle it, I'm just looking for a sign that they do still have a foot in reality - I mean, if they get this wrong, is there really an hope that they'll ever sort themselves out.

To be fair I think it's safe to say that at the time they announced Zahara they planned on releasing it in February. So at least to me it would be a pretty reasonable conclusion to come to to think that at least at the time they posted the video they felt on track to release the Senna content on time. We won't know for sure for the next week or so (depending on when they plan on releasing it) but it's still just a matter of time.

But that's just my point.

When a normal company feels on track to releasing something, it's generally a pretty good sign.

When Polyphony feels on track to releasing something, it means absolutely nothing. We've had hard release dates, and they've flubbed them with no explanation.

Posting a video allows you to draw no conclusions about the release or otherwise of Senna DLC. It's about as informative as when Kaz replies to questions with "Yes, that's technically possible". Well, thanks Kaz, but nobody is any the wiser for that statement.

If you want to believe that just because whoever runs that website chose to repost a video from the Senna Foundation, that somehow means that the Senna DLC is on track for release at some still relatively unknown time, then more power to you. Just don't pretend that it's based on logic, because it's not.

Logic would dictate that if they're going to release something on the first, they'd have teased it by now. It's two days until the anniversary of Senna's death. It takes time for advertising to percolate out to the people it needs to, one does not simply advertise the day before and then suddenly release. Or at least one does advertise before release.

But then again, it's still Polyphony we're talking about so logic really doesn't mean anything either. Which brings us back to...the video means nothing and we have no idea what's going to happen.
