I didn't think he was trying to start an argument with me at least, we all just one big happy family here right?:D Also, it seems you agree with him at least, that these things are purely sales driven, I thought his post was a mildly comical way of putting the truth.
 
Whatever game they're talking about (I think its Eutechnyx's) I hope it'll bring:

- GT's graphics & physics (improved)
- SCC rain effects
- SSV8_NC dynamic track conditions (Grip increase /drying line)
- Private lobbies (no matchmaking please)
- Bug-free setups tune
- GT4's + TOCA's 3 + SCC + SSv8_NC real tracks
 
I think you're asking for too much there. As long as it's got good physics, don't care if the graphics aren't as good because I doubt anything will look as good as GT5. As long as it's got the GT/Forza style of game. By that I mean, that you can buy average everyday cars from manufacturers and take them to the track. Build up money, upgrade the engine, add a turbocharger etc...
 
For me, only one game comes to mind and it's enthusia. Eutechnyx's is for me, out of the question to jeopardize GT5, i belive that developers can not bring game in one or two years period, and have such a massive improvement.

As far as konami's enthusia, i think there is a big possibility, at least i am hoping, but again that statement could only be a marketing trick. Anyway i am hoping that we will see something new :-)

If such a game was ever to come out with all of this in, I could quite happily insert disc and weld the disc slot shut. No other games necessary!

If some of you recall, before EA got exclusive license for NASCAR, Papyrus made the definitive NASCAR simulator for the PC. Before NASCAR, Papyrus had developed it's physics modeling with an Indycar series, (Indianapolis 500: The Simulation (1989), IndyCar Racing (1993)). When I tested at EA during the 2004 season, we frequently used the Papyrus NASCAR game as the benchmark for the physics (which EA was never able to duplicate).

Could this be a new NASCAR title? Or has Ed Martin corralled the coders from Papyrus to produce a new sequel to the original IndyCar Racing?
 
I forgot about Enthusia, it was quite good. But I'm hoping it's either Enthusia 2 or Test Drive Unlimited 2, not sure it will be TDU2 though, I read somewhere (Eurogamer I think) that the producer said it will be released around Q4 2010?
 
They want to unveil something, TDU2 was already unveiled.
I doubt its Enthusia, i still think its either the Eutechnyx game (which i would like if they finally kill that incredible stupid steering assist for pad users) or MotorStorm 3.

It'll be nice wouldn't it?! I know this is asking too much, but no harm in dreaming.

Anyway I really expect the game to be the new one from Eutechnyx, Auto Clube Revolution (or something similar). Word has it that there's a second Eutechnyx game on the process also, but seems it'll be a licensed racing series sim (FIA GT? I wish...).

Realistically it seems hard to compete in some aspects of GT5 such as graphics and content. But, contrarly to what I've been reading here, SCC is really a very very nice game and, in my opinion, in some cars it does simulate handling better than GT5, specially classic cars.

Also allows for 16 online drivers and it has the best rain effects on PS3 racing games I'm aware of. Track list is also very very good (Spa, Hockenheim, Nurburgring GP, Silverstone GP National & South, Riviera (Monaco's fantasy track), Mugello Sports & International, Misano, Monza, Vallelunga, Paul Ricard, Homestead and Miami both oval and infields, Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Infineon Sprint & Road courses, VIR.

Oh anf the FFB is their Strong point... by far the best I ever seen in PS3

Nevertheless, the more the better racinga games in PS3... as long that they are good, nothing else matters 👍

Because in a car racing game the cars and tracks matter, why do you think everyone is screaming for a car list and examining every video with a fine tooth comb for new cars? If somebody made a game with ultimately true to life physics, picture perfect graphics and only put one car, a Toyota Camry, and one track, *insert some crappy track* nobody would ever buy it, because it wouldn't be a good game. Australia has a diverse car culture and history with cars revered enough and certainly worthy enough that they ought to be in GT5. Most game developers seem to think that if they include one Commodore and one Falcon the Australians will be 100% satisfied, not so. We've got soo many classics, and some more brands too, such as Valiant Australia, Elfin and Bolwell, it'd be great to see at least some of this represented in a game for us to drive, and to also expose them to foreigners. One Commodore and one Falcon is like a kick in the face saying "We think your cars aren't worth a 2nd glance".

Yes they do matter but GT5 have quite a lot of tracks and cars. To the point where claiming the absence of some arbitrary cars, means PD doesn't care about making a good game, is ridiculous. You feel they should include more aussie cars and tracks then fine. I want quite a lot of cars and tracks myself. Just don't try to convince me PD only cares about the money because they don't include some particular cars you want. That makes no sense.

PD only cares about the money, as any other company. Or do you think they put so much effort in GT just so you like it? No, they put that much effort so that you buy it, thus they get their money. I'm not saying Paulie is right, but that PD cares for money more than anything else is true.

I asume that's also true, at least for me. But that's not GT's case. Did GT4 had 5 australian cars (off the top of my head the Commodore, Monaro, V8 Supercars Falcon, two FPV)? Yes, it did. Does that make it a bad game? No. Having more makes it a good game? No, but it surely makes it a better one. Now, if you are saying that to make a complete racing game PD should include more australian cars, you would be absolutely right.


I have voiced many times that I don't like GT's variety at all. Those who like japanese cars have a good variety to choose from, and that's wonderful. What about the rest? For those who like american cars, no old Ford Mustang. Seriously? Those who like european cars must have missed a lot of great cars, I'm sure of that. I would surely be as pissed as you seem to be if I was australian and had just five cars from my country to choose from. The closest car to be an argentine car present in GT4 was the Pagani Zonda. An IKA-Renault Torino would be nice, for example. But it's just one car, to be honest, and isn't worth the trouble.

As for Aussie cars, they are being fairly represented according to worldwide cultural significance in my opinion, although some of those late sixties/early seventies Bathurst muscle cars would be very welcome as an alternative to the US ones.
Japanese, European and American cars just are more widely recognised around the world, like it or not.
The logic of a rich automotive Aussie car culture could also apply to Russia, Eastern Europe, India or South American countries, etc.
Each have them, although not widely accepted or even known for it, and although i would like to see all of them equally represented ( and i did really love the Aussie cars in GT4 ) saying they are only included to persuade Aussie customers to buy GT is not entirely true i think.
GT is also sold in Russia, Eastern Europe, India and South America and countless other nations with largely unknown but arguably similar rich car cultures as Australia.

What is happening here is called GENERATING HYPE. Any competition on the PS3 is good for Sony. And it's good traffic for that blog, though it's crappy.

If we are going over the Dutch automotive history xertainly we can't miss Donkervoort. It's been around for the past thirty years or so building high quality lightweight sportscars based on the Lotus Super seven at first but today almost unrecognisable. And then there's the Mitsubishi Colt which was also featured in GT4.

But that Colt was not designed or developed in Holland, it's only built in Holland but is basically Japanese ( BMW Z4 is built in US, still you don't call it an American car ).
And yes Donkervoort is a further development of the Caterham and has evolved into a unique car all on its own.
Basically Dutch car industry is just DAF ( long gone as a carmaker ) and two small boutique carmakers Donkervoort and Spyker.

Oh and after DAF was taken over by Volvo, Volvo designed and developed some cars in Holland, although apart maybe from the 480 ES, are best left forgotten
