Forza Motorsport 7 Coming to Xbox Game Pass, Arrives October 8

The Xbox Game Pass subscription service continues to grow, and next month sees the addition of a fan favorite. With DiRT Rally 2.0 leaving the service on October 1, it begs the question: what’s going to take its place for sim racers? Now there’s an answer, Forza Motorsport 7.

Fans of the Forza Motorsport franchise have been able to play the seventh iteration since October 2017. In the months following release, Turn 10 expanded the car roster with monthly car packs. After nearly two years of support — the longest of any Forza Motorsport title to date — the game’s final update introduced the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, among other features.

When we reviewed the game, we referred to it as “the Forza Greatest Hits album”. Even the vanilla version of the game has more than enough content to hold one’s interest, featuring well over 700 cars and 32 tracks (with over 120 variations). FM7 also features dynamic time and weather on select tracks, a first for the series. The previously mentioned car packs added more than 100 cars to the game.

For Xbox Game Pass subscribers that never pulled the trigger, this is as good an incentive as any other. FM7 joins sister title Forza Horizon 4, also available on Game Pass. Add to that the game being playable on the Xbox Series X (and Series S) and it’s a winning formula — especially if Motorsport 7 sees the same enhancements that the XSX will gift to Horizon 4.

The timing feels appropriate here as well. Earlier this year, Turn 10 revealed the next entry in the series, surprisingly named Forza Motorsport. By all accounts, it appears it will start the franchise anew for the next generation, but fans of the series will likely have to wait until late 2021 at the earliest for a new Motorpsort fix. Until then, both Microsoft and Turn 10 look to tide things over with the 2017 game.

Xbox Game Pass starts at $9.99 per month on console and PC, and $14.99 (£10.99/€12.99) for Ultimate that bundles Xbox Live Gold and now xCloud Game Streaming. There’s also an introductory price of $1 for the first month, and Xbox All Access includes Game Pass Ultimate in the price.
