As teased in last week’s news, Ferrari’s twin-turbocharged 488 GTB is now available in Driveclub as a free downloadable add-on. This isn’t the first time Ferrari has used video games as a way of introducing their newest models to potential customers as Forza Motorsport 3 and Gran Turismo 5 were used to showcase the 488 GTB’s predecessor, the 458 Italia.

Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 6 has picked up another series, in addition to the entire Formula E grid that was announced at the beginning of summer: the ever-popular V8 Supercar series from Australia. Today, straight from the official series website, the ten cars that will be present in the game come launch day were detailed, with cars from each of the five current manufacturers. With Mount Panorama returning from Forza 5, players will be able to live out the series in ways that haven’t been possible before on a console racer.

What, no trucks this week? I need trucks! I’ve spent hours trying to think up an exciting way to best last week’s presentation, and as I’m writing this I’ve come to the realization that it just isn’t possible and there’s a very good reason for that, last week’s opening was so unexpected, even to me, that is was entirely an act of spontaneity. If you know anything about spontaneity than it should become apparent why I can’t will this week’s opening into a better place on my own admittedly selfish hierarchy chart because it just doesn’t work that way.

Update 1.21 is now available to download for Driveclub. Weighing in at 533MB, the update introduces a new supercar awarded at driver level 66, new “Elite” driver levels, a new sprint mode, and rebalanced wet weather and night time event occurrences in Random Event.

A new batch of seasonal events are now available in Gran Turismo 6 showcasing this week’s super lap and drift trial challenges. If there’s one thing you can rely on with PR, it’s that if the first attempt to engage your audience is too subtle the second one won’t be. Its choice of accompanying hashtag harking back to the company’s founder Ettore Bugatti – #imaginEBugatti – may have raised a few wry smiles, but not as much as the image accompanying one Tweet from the official account:
