Polyphony Digital has announced in advance an upcoming one-make race to be featured in GT6’s Quick Match events, which will feature the Renault Mégane Trophy at the Nurburgring GP/F circuit.
You’ll be able to use cars from your garage, so you can tune them to your liking in advance. The 15th Anniversary Edition of the Mégane can also be used in the event.
Polyphony points out their nostalgic touch with the event image: it’s a throwback to the Gran Turismo 4 home screen, which showed your current car in a garage, facing outwards if you won your last race, and inwards – in shame – if you lost…

I cant believe no one is pissed at them removing the 500pp quick race, it was the best thing about the game, and then to add salt in the wound they replace it with……..NOTHING!!!!!
After three frustrating failed attempts to matchmake, managed to join and win five races in a row until the ‘lost connection to the server’ message appeared.
I never used the Trophy AE before so was suprised at just how well it handled and cornered. Had a few mishaps along the way, but managed to battle my way to first place in all but my first race. My best time was 1:55.235 which suprised me as I started in 15th place and battled hard on the second lap to get that time LOL.
Definately going to be revisiting this QM again and again as the payout with 200% login bonus is around 609k for first place with a grid of 16 racers.
I expected more AE cars. Only two or three per race. Okay, so no contact penalties? I “ghosted” thru or others “ghosted” thru me at every curve. Overall fun with good payouts.
I did cut to the left after the first righthander. I’m so used to the other layout. Shameface, 1st to 9th on that mess up.
The GT4 menu reference is cool, but being quick-match pretty much guarantees the same frustrations ahead.

I appreciate the GT4 reference. Been backing into my garage because my whips too cool and can avoid rolling over the neighborhood kids.
As far as quick racing goes, those skilless drivers can experience ForzaStyle racing ;)
And i was curious why my cars were always parked in the garage showing me their back.
No need to reference GT4 again, there’s too many GT4 references with the cars.

Quick match does not work for me. The lag is so bad at times, I have cars jumping in and out of the driving line constantly crashing into me, or in some cases a car will just stop for no reason like the other player has lost their connection.
Why would anyone ever do a Quick Match event that uses cars from your garage? The only good thing about any of them is using the relatively balanced cars they supply.
Sucks that it isn’t on the Nordschleife. That way all the crash-‘n-smashers could go off on the first turn (and pretty much every turn thereafter) and leave the real racers to enjoy a lap around one of the world’s best tracks.

Kinda cool but I hate remembering GT4 & how crazy obsessed I was with the game at the time. I really hope I can feel that excited about GT again. Bring on GT7!!

Nice touch the garaje screen. Unfortunately, that is not the only thing I miss from GT4…
I can’t wait to see how the dirt balls negotiate the chicane before the last turn at nurb. Hopefully PD cranks the shortcut penalty for lopping it off up to 10 seconds. Also hoping there’s a good replacement for the 500pp Trial Mountain race…
