Years ago I found these instructions about driver model.

Install the Driver_60.kn5 model in your Assetto Corsa\Content\Driver folder.

Open Notepad and enter the following:

[DRIVER3D_MODEL]
NAME=driver_60
POSITION=0.0,0.0,0.0

Where driver_60 is the name of the model you want to use as listed in Content Manager.
Then save the file as ext_config.ini into the folder of the skin you want it to effect.

If you want it to effect all drivers of a car, regardless of which skin they have, you can save it with the car name into \Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\extension\cars.

Please be aware that the new driver will not show up in the CM Showroom, but he will be there when you race.

If you want to replace the driver for all skins of the car, and you want the driver to show up in the showroom as well:

In the car folder, open the Data folder.
If the car does not have a data folder, you will have to unpack those files by putting Content Manager into developer mode.
Paste the driver3d.ini file here, and click yes to overwrite/replace the file that is already there.

Is there a way to change a driver model with an ext_config? Skin.ini doesn't seem to do that. The VRC Alfa has the model set to driver_80 in driver3d.ini, I want it set to driver_1998. I know I could just distribute a replacement data.acd, but that seems rude in changing the settings for all other skins...

Creat a ext_config.ini inside the car skin folder and add this:

NAME= (driver model you want)
POSITION=0.0,0.0,0.0

[DRIVER3D_HIDE_OBJECT_0]
NAME=DRIVER:HELMET

[DRIVER3D_HIDE_OBJECT_1]

I doubt anything will replace Assetto Corsa anytime soon. We just have superior niche content that nothing can ever match.

LeMans Ultimate (imho) drives better than iRacing and ACC (esp. the GT cars). I was really impressed. It uses RF2 force feedback and the driving feel is very sharp. They should just create more stuff for offline racing. But it's a great game. DiRT Rally 2 still going strong and not surprised... I always enjoy playing it (although I suck). Amazingly enjoyable. Whenever I finish my RBR sessions I'm always in a bad mood but DR2 is always a lot of fun.

I used to run it on my distro I currently use (Nobara, based on Fedora) via Proton through Steam, even tho it was finnicky to set it all up via a tutorial and claims on ProtonDB, I managed to make it work and it ran fine, although CM is really buggy and is prone to crash a lot, not to mention the lack of perephials which have no driver on Linux so far (save for Moza and Thrustmaster).

So here's what I learned. Turns out it works with just skin.ini... for some reason I didn't need to hide the helmet etc for 1st-person view for some reason... ( can I do that hiding in skin.ini if I need to?)

The Alfa skins have been updated. They can be used for both csp and non-csp versions (I'd normally say so what, but there are issues)

I reworked the skins for the 2025 Aston Martin Valkyrie LMDh by iHTuning. Now, the IMSA skin has the correct logos and the WEC skins show correctly the car number. I also changed the ui_skin.json for each skin. The skins will also work with the FSR version of the car as it's the same car model.

If I need to modify or update a single car file, do I have to decompress all files first?After compression, is it the same as ZIP or RAR, forming a single complete archive file?

Second part of the final tests.
Now arriving at the (fictitious) commune (Citta di Aorta) of "San Benedetto Del Tronto," the next section will be using the Pescara track (by Italotracks).

Groups of cars (T750, T1.3, GT1.3) already completed...

and the cars (with the best overall classification in the simulation) arrived at the commune in pairs (with a car of another brand).
This way, I can better test/analyze both my performance and the performance of the "AI" with the same car and with cars of the same class.

The main issue you should avoid is to have more data in compression than your physical space.
eg: 4tb compessed on a 3tb drive.

random: compression wont do much for 3d tree .bin files (they are a zip).

I always wait a good two weeks to update my system anyways ! Ever since an update completely bricked my old W8 laptop a decade ago I just wait.

If you have a low end spec machine LMU is diabolical. And I don't get the praise for the AI, its the worst on any game I've played. I was trying to get my graphics to run smoothly the other day and in 10 starts at Spa the AI mowed me off the road 6 times at Eau Rouge. They have no awareness of a car next to them. But my favourite was still having the Ferrari 499 pass me while I was defending my position with all 4 wheels off the road, bouncing off the inside kerb but still managing to make the corner and pass me no problem. The stuttering issue which they introduced in the patch before V1.0 is now worse and they don't care about it, they only care about online cos that's their cash cow. Not to mention their pathetic attitude on Discord to customers and clear money milking tactics.

Yes it might be a CPU resource hog. Most of these new games are. Weird as nothing has really improved and changed dramatically in the graphics department. ACC still looks incredible (probably better than LMU) and I don't think anyone has performance issues with it. AC1 actually looks just as good or sometimes even better than any new sims. Why do the new games require so much more resources beats me.

I have a year old high end PC and LMU runs silky smoothly for me. They say EVO has stuttering issues too but I have no problems with that, either. Could these be compatibilty issues with certain graphics cards, huh?

Weird that you say that about AI. I have 6 full races at Bahrain and Spa and I haven't noticed such things. AI level 95 and default aggression (I think 50).

My biggest complaint is the lack of offline content (just a handful of tracks, even Interlagos is DLC) and they're a bit pricey. And no championship mode. It shouldn't be called 1.0 as it's clearly not a finished product yet. But I've had a lot of fun with it so far... I really like how the car drives. Way more forgiving kerb behaviour than ACC and you have better "feel" of the car. And unlike on iRacing you can actually save the car from oversteers sometimes. I have unsubscribed from iRacing and I heard they have improved the tyre model so this might not be the case anymore. Not going back there anymore as I'm mostly offline player and nothing will ever replace AC1 for me. It's just fun to be "unfaithful" sometimes and play other sims too.

I've always loved RF2 FFB but absolutely HATED the menu system. I think it's smart they have taken RF2 FFB. EVO should do that too with AC1 FFB too (which might be the best ever). EVO FFB is way inferior to AC1 imho. Don't fix what ain't broken.

Mine is a low end card (slightly up from their min requirements) and I don't expect brilliance, but I had it running smoothly during the EA period, only Le Mans was an issue cos it was running out of VRAM so I got the weird AI-warping thing which looks like you have a bad ping. So I just never raced there, but I could race fine anywhere else. But then they changed it with an update near V1.0 release and it was horrific. Nvidia did new drivers and that helped solve it a bit but now its just there all the time and they have literally admitted on this discord that they haven't bothered looking into it because only 1 of their machines has had it briefly. But there are people with even 4000 and 5000 series cards having it. So its really random.

They should simply stop prioritizing the eyecandy. I know other people have different preferences but personally I don't really care about the graphics anymore. We have reached certain point where the graphics have become meaningless.

I'm not saying it's meaningless literally because I can't go back to GP4 and RF1 graphics anymore but I think the turning point in sim racing graphics was around when AC1 and RF2 came... like 10 years ago. They look "good enough".

Prioritizing graphics and creating such resource heavy sims for some minor graphics improvements doesn't seem to be very good strategy. I don't think sim racers are so graphics oriented as some old sims like RBR and GP4 still have a huge fanbase. They still play GTR2 and Live For Speed too.

People went crazy when GT7 came and it was (supposedly) SO much better looking that GT Sport. Well yeah, I didn't see much difference and if there was any I didn't even care. But maybe I'm in the minority.

If someone asked me which looks the best AC, ACC, LMU, EVO... I couldn't even answer. They all look good to me.

I do agree with you to a certain extent. If developers had stuck with the visual standards from 10 years ago (Alike vanilla AC?), no one would be craving more eye-candy graphics today. Back then, people were content with what was put available. But nowadays, it’s all about visuals. The flashier, the better or so it seems.

It’s the same with physical appearance in our current society. People feel pressured to look good, even if that means undergoing chemical or surgical “enhancements” (that often end up doing more harm than good...) Still, as long as someone looks “good,” life somehow seems easier or more rewarding.

Of course, we need a certain level of visual quality in racing games like Assetto Corsa for immersion. But when you're flying down the Le Mans straight at 200 mph, you're not exactly admiring every pixel, are you? Let’s not forget the importance of smooth gameplay. That’s what truly makes the experience.

Must admit; I bought a 4K monitor to have AC look good, but I also do edit RAW photograpghs, Photos MUST look good by default (Static picture).
